Exactly, Kaz thinks he knows everything but developers from other game studios got one thing right that he has almost never gotten right: doing what the fans want. Kaz clearly is deaf to logic and reason.
Now I understand since the age of 15 he's wanted to create a great racing game which he did until GT5, but he needs to understand the importance of communication with the fans. Nearly every good game or even the games that don't have many players, the developers read about what fans want and try to implicate their ideas so the game can be more enjoyable for the consumer. Kaz doesn't care for the consumer or how a consumer wants his game to be improved. He only cares for the money and that the game eventually becomes his "perfect vision" of GT. He's selfish because he thinks that if he makes a game that's his vision that we all will automatically be satisfied with the game. I don't mean to get angry and irrational but clearly his priorities are ****** up, and if the Gran Turismo series starts to decline from this point on,(which I think it already has) then it's his fault for having the wrong priorities. Kaz isn't doing it for us anymore, he's doing it so he can have more supercars in real life then there are in the game. Only the cars that he actually likes sound good in the game. I bet any member on GTPlanet if they had the opportunity could create a game studio company and create a better GT game with the top features being what the fans actually want so the game would be enjoyable and replayable for years...💡
Just my thoughts,

Very in depth, Sounds like you and Kaz are really close

Should this site change it's name to Forza Planet?

Just a thought :/

👍 That's sad to even think. BUT,

this is a home to Gran Turismo. We should treat it like such.

that guy is wakko. He has no idea what he's talking about. He's borderline delusional.
No one can even imagine what Kaz has to go through to make a GT game.

@ Melfice7

Agreed people that say stop hating on PD what world do you guys live in it's 2011 everyone around PD has stepped their game up majorly.

Look at Turn 10 I don't like Forza like that cause it's a bit arcadey in some aspects, but the graphics on the 4th one look like GT5 almost probably is. I wouldn't be surprised if T10 overtakes GT by the time the 6th one hits store shelves.

Lets be honest GT5 is one of the biggest disappointments i've ever known in my long history of playing video games. Now because this is a dedicated GT website it isn't representative of the majority who purchased GT5. However after what happened today I can tell you the majority who purchased GT5 were bitterly disappointed.

Today I decided to trade GT5 in because I hardly ever play the game anymore and im also going to sell my G25/Wheelstand Pro. So today I went into Game and was only offered £10 for both GT5 & GT PSP. I was amazed at this and was expecting at least £25. According to the manager the reason for the low price is because he has 20X more traded in copies of GT5 than he has originals in the store! Seems everyone who traded GT5 says the same and that is they find the game a chore and boring.

I won't say I hate PD but im certainly bitterly disappointed in them. I purchased my PS3, G25, Wheelstand Pro specifically for GT5 and yet im selling all of these. My G25/Wheelstand Pro are virtually brand new because I kept these in the box until GT5 was released. So im entitled to be annoyed at PD because i've wasted alot of money. I really enjoyed GT5P but I never for one minute expected GT5 to be inferior in some respects!

Absolutely right. So many of the flaws that hardcore fans are choosing to overlook are downright deal breakers to your average PS3 user. GT5, as a game, is broken.

I too bought a wheel specifically for this game, and GT5 was also a significant factor in my initial purchase of the PS3 system. And it's truly amazing that the disappointment comes not from over-hype (which affects almost every big release) but that fact that specific statements about the games content, and also very sound assumptions about the game's quality based on GT:P, have been proven completely false in GT5.

And the general unfinished-ness of the whole package is infuriating. Why can I see my car's power in kW in Prologue, but not the full release? Why can't I choose to have a standing start on the Top Gear track? If you've spent 5 years making a game with 1000 cars, how hard is it to have even a few more events? I think there might be more licence tests than races... GT5 doesn't even have a simple Arcade mode like GT1 had where you use stock cars to unlock more cars and tracks - it's basically just a practice mode. Simple. Little. Things.

I would definitely agree that GT5 is one of the most disappointing video games of all time, mostly because it's still just good enough for me to keep playing, and keep being disappointed every time! :scared:

I would just like to say that I love GT5 personally.

I do agree, however that the inclusion of so many duplicates (Skylines etc) which have only miniscule differences was unnecessary. I mean, even without them GT5 still would have 100's of unique cars.

Is there really a need for a '99 S2000, a '00 S2000, a '03 S2000 a '06 S2000 and then go on to a US and EU version of the same car?

Same way they have the Vitz and Yaris even though they are identical. Or the MX-5 and the Eunos Roadster. Simply badged differently in different regions.

Unfortunately, that's 100% true. :guilty:

I, for one, don't play the career mode at all. It's more of a chore than being fun. So I only race online with my friends, we're doing weekly sessions and it's a lot of fun. However, I have to manage with B-Spec for prospering my economy status, cause I can't stand career. It's just that offline racing isn't fun anymore. IMHO, it's just pointless in a racing game. It's not making you enthusiast in any form compare to online mode. :\

Yep pretty much sums GT5 up that does.

I honestly believe PD have shot themselves in the foot because not only have Turn 10 a real opportunity of being the best racing franchise but the sales of GT6 will be the lowest in the franchise.

These days gamers expect more than just single player, racing online. For example the community side of Forza is far superior i.e sharing paintjobs, tunes, cars. Many of the Forza players belong to teams and these teams consist of painters, tuners, hotlappers because of course Forza 3 has an abundance of leaderboards compared to GT5.

For me the physics/graphics on GT5 are superior. However it appears Kaz/PD spent all the development time on premium cars and every other aspect of GT5 was an after thought. The A Spec mode is good example because it appears they spent 5mins on this.

Im more of a hotlapper and my enjoyment is testing myself against the world rather than the A.I. This was my biggest disappointment in GT5 because apart from a few seasonal time trials there wasn't any time trial leaderboards like GT5P. I understand it would of been difficult to have leaderboards for all of the cars but they could of at least had leaderboards for Licences, A Spec, Specials, stock time trial for premium cars.

If this had been the 1990s I would of been happy grinding and collecting and writing my laptimes on a piece of paper because thats what I used to do back then. However the likes of Forza have shown me how there is so much more to a racing game. Unfortunately Kaz still lives in the 1990s and so do those who are perfectly happy with GT5. When I read a thread on here asking members to post their laptimes it nearly made me want to cry.

GT5 doesn't have what Forza has.
Forza doesn't have what GT5 has.

It will be a race to first! But which one has what is more important?

The flame wars which rage through here reminds me of why I avoid this sub-forum.

Yes. Appreciate what you have, or shut up and go home...

GT5 is till damned awesome.

Fanboys, fanboys, fanboys, that's what's plaguing the entire earth. :dunce:

Amidst all the ranting and raving I'd do what most people haven't done in GT5 - go deeper and find new ways to have fun and stuff. Instead of whining, why not do something productive like drifting, photo shooting, or something else?

Sarcasm or retardery?

both?💡

uMadson?

thats pretty much the only thing that keeps me on GT5! Pretty sad...:grumpy:

But who cares, it summer!!!!!:dopey:

He wanted two more years for development but had to release the game right? So wait some time for the full potential of this game.

I for one still love this game. It's the first Gran Turismo I've played (apart from GT5P) and I am still amazed what this game has to offer. Go play Need for Speed/Burnout/GRID/F1 2010 and see how quick you're back to GT5 because they don't even have half of the things GT5 has.

Of course I would like more premium cars and tracks and I'm sure they will be released as DLC somewhere in the future.

Indeed. I have GRID which I played a lot before GT5 and now I can't back to it whatsoever (I think I'll just sell it), mostly because it feels stupid compare to GT5 "seriousness".

Pretty clear judging by the replies that some people just don't have a clue what they are missing because they obviously haven't experienced some of the gameplay features that are present on most other racing games and yet missing from GT5. It appears some of you are like Kaz/PD i.e living in the past because you're playing racing games like how I used to back in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Let me ask you this. Why is it basic arcade racing games have single player leaderboards and yet the supposed king of racing games only has a few seasonal time trial leaderboards? The most obvious missing leaderboard is the Top gear TT.

What some of you just don't get is how A Spec leaderboards would of greatly improved the whole experience. For example trying to be consistently fast for x amount of laps around Grand Valley Speedway and then comparing your overall time with your friends/community would of been great fun. Imagine having a overall leaderboard for some of the endurance race events! However the most important aspect of this is it would of made repeating events far more fun. The reason being is your not only repeating events for credits but you have the motivation of trying to improve your overall time and beat your friends.

I don't care what anyone says but in some respects GT5P was a better game. At least this had time trial leaderboards for each car.

Sorry but GT5 is a racing game with fantastic physics but thanks to Kaz its a car collecting game rather than a video racing game.

Yep, totally agree with that!
But we should've already know it when the commercials "we love cars" came out! They never said, "we love racing":odd:

Imagine gaining XP for gaining positions on the leaderboard. Imagine being automatically notified when a friend beats your record, giving you the option to try to beat him right away by one click of a button. Imagine being able to suggest friends to run a certain event. :)

Far fetched? No, at least two racing games already have this, and more and more will follow (and not just racers either, shooters and other games alike). It's an extremely good way to keep single player career interesting and drive against your PSN friends while you are not online at the same time.

This is probably the most important feature why I play S2U for the offline bit and stick to GT5 for the online bit.

...If PD were only concerned with money, there's no way we'd have GT Academy, as that does nothing but lose money.
GT Academy is a big ongoing PR campaign for the GT series, which most likely helps to pull in money and pay for itself. It's not charity.
