I agree with some of your comments but reading the article you can see features that are missing from GT. For example the community side of FM4 especially the rivals mode which allows you to challenge your friends laptimes. This is something that cannot be done on GT5 because it doesn't even have friends leaderboards!

Like i've said many times, give me GT5 graphics, physics with Forza gameplay features and you would have the perfect racing game.

I agree Forza & GT are very different. However the advantage Forza has over GT5 is the fun factor.

+1! Well said!

Fun factor? Don't get me wrong FM3 is fun I like the fact you can hook up your car to your liking but, for me when playing a racing game the fun comes in with driving the cars. I would spend hours trying to make a paint job in fm3 but when it came to driving it just did not do it for me. GT5 is different I hot lapped the ring on a saturday for 3 hours straight. My wife was just boggled, I told her driving in GT is fun and addictive. GT5 will get better and better as time goes. At least the driving is top notch.

Yes I do love the driving hotlapping is great. My wife did the same thing yesterday. Had the headphones on and all, she just looks at like "what the hell"? But thats all I did for 3 hours at the ring!

No doubt man I'm telling you our women look at us like we are insane lol.

^I know right I was telling her I was going to watch E3 Monday and she was like "Is that for video games"? "God"!

Funny Enough we were having a chat on GTP during the Sony Conference on How P.D might and should have done better and although my Point still stands Yesterday was Probably one of my best nights I had with a GAme.

Doing the Seasonals with My own (bad :D )Tune and Winning both by using every bit of skill concentration (I never concentrate that hard during any game)and Finally using those races to Reach the magical level 30 and Dear me driving the X1 for the First time

After that long boring write up there is only one thing left to say

Polyphony Digital Thank you

PD lets me drive as real as possible on the world's most dangerous track in some of the most fastest and dangerous cars on the planet in the comfort of my own living room. What's not to like ??:sly:

Also, unlike Forza which gives you access to 100% of cars in arcade mode, GT5 makes you work for them and so requires you to buy them in order to drive/race them in arcade mode.

Forza loves cars, that's what that says to me.

GT is no iRacing, but it certainly isn't arcade.

Well to be fair, GT has no qualification, the tire grip is a constant, downforce barely induces drag, we only recently had adjustable transmission returned but we still can't see over what RPM range our gears cover and the power curve chart we're given is absolutely minimalist. The cars don't roll over online, damage is forced off by default, most races have laps in the single digits and cars that should never meet on the same track ('85 RX-7 vs '03 Shelby, etc) in the same race. And credits. And now levels.

I like GT and do consider it a sim, but there are many arcade features in the game.

Even knowing that this is GT5 brand new engine developed, I'm sure GT6 would get better and probably not going to take as long. Knowing that lots of people is praising FM4 for their features, we don't know how the game is going to be turned out yet. There may be bugs who knows? Lots of people were hyped from this forum about GT5 and was very disappointed with FM3. Now it's the other way around with GT5. I think PD problems is the fact they were developing two titles which was GTPSP and GT5 at the same time.

In my personal opinion, I bought GT5 for it's graphics and physics. I was so curious to see how the ps3's capabilities can turn out, which is the best experience i've ever seen from a console.

I'm sure many of us seen from the gran-turismo website about what to expect from GT5. When GT5 was in development, I've seen lots of complaints from this forum about no reverse lights, realistic smoke, skid marks, day/night transition and weather. By seeing all these features into GT5 that shows that they are hearing us. Also people mentioned about livery editor as well. Kaz said he's not ready to implement that feature yet into GT5 (maybe GT6?). Even with this new update may have disappointed some of you but people were asking for the ability to wear different costumes from a-spec. They already implemented it. This shows that you can criticize a game for what you want. I think the best way to criticize for the things you expect from GT5 is to go onto Jordan's feedback section. But in my own guess, we may have a way better game for GT6 but there's still going to be criticism to make the game better wether the game is a success to many of you or not.

I do not think anyone questions that actual driving aspect in GT5 is by far its best trait and arguably physics wise a step above all other console driving games and in terms of experience, above any racing game. Driving The Ring at 6am seeing the sun rise is breathtaking. But at the end of the day, it is not right to say that makes up for everything else that is wrong with the game.

Like i've said the physics on GT5 are superb easily the best on any console racing game. However when you say you hotlapped the ring for 3hrs straight were any of these laptimes uploaded to a leaderboard or did you just write them down?

My point is just endlessly driving around is something I was content to do back in the 90s/early 2000s. However thanks to Forza im now part of an online racing team and hotlapping has more meaning because im not only challenging the rest of the world but aqquiring points for our team.

There is no denying the actual driving experience on GT5 is miles ahead of Forza. Unfortunately the right mess PD made of everything else ruins this experience. If you enjoy hotlapping without leadeboards, endless grinding then fair enough but I personally don't.

Just wait for them (leaderboards and features we should be getting), that's all we can do. Everybody knows GT5 is incomplete. Kaz said it himself. So don't you think GT5 is STILL incomplete? He needed 2 years to complete GT5, and now they only have a separate online team from PD working on the updates. It's only been 6.5 (damn near Exactly) months since its been released. And the 4 updates we've gotten that added features have been extremely helpful.

I find it hard to not criticise Polyphony when you see some of the shocking omissions and design decisions in GT5.

They're miles behind in some areas, and unless they catch up really quickly, GT risks becoming a smaller and smaller franchise.

And that's no good to anyone.

I don't mean to be rude but after waiting 5yrs for GT5 im running out of patience waiting for such a basic feature like leaderboards. These should of been included right from the start.

They've also added crap and changed things that NO-ONE wanted.

But PD have a secret weapon. And that's the chronically awful wheel support for the 360. If M$ get off their butts and support logitech stuff (yes yes I know the box doesn't do FFB commands quite right) and if Turn 10 support the wheels as seriously as PD have done then PD and GT6 will be in trouble. If M$ continue to ignore the fact that MOST hardcore sim racers have some sort of logitech wheel or other then PD and GT6 will be safe.

Sorry, I play both games but I don't see the big difference.

GT5 is more precise and less forgiving, but to a fault sometimes I think.

I'm not a wheel player so the physics may create more influence toward your interpretation with that method.

IMO the driving experience is better, due more to superior tracks and better recreation of the tracks and enviroment. It gives a little better feeling of realism to me.

Unfortunately the right mess PD made of everything else ruins this experience.

With this I can agree.

They have the leaderboards and can compare laptimes with friends but I think it's only for seasonal events though.

I must admit its probably unfair of me to judge the physics on Forza because I use the G25 on GT5 and a controller for Forza.

I know one thing though if the Xbox did support my G25 I would probably never play GT again.

You say it unfair but he has no wheel very hard to take somebody serious who plays with a controller talking about physics just my opinion I have fanatec for fm3. And I have a dfgt for my turismo. And you say you wouldn't come back to GT hmm.. I don't know.

I have very little motivation to return to GT5 because quiet simply its boring and repeating events for credits without leaderboards feels like a chore. I play video games for entertainment and its the fun factor that is missing from GT5.

The Forza franchise is becoming ever stronger and due to Kaz/PD living in the past they have allowed Turn 10 to gain ground on them. The only way Kaz/PD can address this is by jumping into a time machine and moving into the year 2011 instead of being stuck in the year 2000!

Like I said this forum isn't representative of the majority who purchased GT5 and because of this you are likely to find the hardcore on here who are still happy with GT5. However based on the amount of traded in copies of GT5 in various gamestores their are many who are also disappointed.

Just my guess but I reckon if PD released GT6 in 2013 they would only sell half the amount of copies they sold of GT5 and this is me being generous.

Hey man I respect your feelings, but reading your posts on this forums has me thinking we are 2 different gamers like everybody else on the planet. What you find boring and repetitive I find fun and challenging. That's it some folks have real patience some people have patience like my little 6 year lol. It's all good though if you think GT5 doesn't get me upset some time that's not the case, but the way some folks act on here is mind blowing. Just because I don't cry and rage does not mean I accept the game 100% or what you guys say (FAN BOY) I'm an adult and understand that everything is not going to be my way or perfect. For the sales who cares along as I get my copy I'm straight. I will leave those sales figures to you and all the over folks who care about them so much.

Hey JDM. Still fighting the good fight eh.

Ivor, what a turn around.

Just about to start this game up for the first time in 2 months to see what all the fuss is about these helmets.

Bye and take care.

Oh on topic.

Yeah stoppit ya big meanies. Lol

If I could just put my .02 cent in. I think you two guys are very much similar, in fact I think most of us on here are very much the same. I believe he likes the same kind of things you like. You both like to hot lap but like he said, and his friends and others can see what each other had run.

I like to hot lap too but I would like to see the leader boards. His frustration is like no others, we want what were were promised when we bought the game. Seeing the slide show picture of the features that were going to make it in the final game and them not deliver is why most of us are unhappy. And it has exploded in the past few months.

I agree with you but let me asks you this didn't GT5P have this feature? I'm sure it going to implemented, And that's the what I mean with my patience, I'm not going to come on here and go crazy I will just wait.

Putting your wise-ass controller crack aside, at least for the moment,
I'm curious to know, since you play both games with a wheel, what your opinion is of the physics on both games.

I really don't think he meant it to be a wise-ass.

And I could answer your question because it really is a fact which one is better, but I don't think you'll like me. :nervous:
