Yep, totally agree with that!
But we should've already know it when the commercials "we love cars" came out! They never said, "we love racing":odd:

Perhaps that's what GT5 is all about? Almost an encyclopedia for people who love cars, not necessarily racing per se. I do get the feeling that GT5 is a car collection game rather than a typical racer like almost all others out there. That's what makes it unique. You notice how all cars have detailed descriptions? Even Forza doesn't give you that.

Also, unlike Forza which gives you access to 100% of cars in arcade mode, GT5 makes you work for them and so requires you to buy them in order to drive/race them in arcade mode.

Maybe too many people were expecting a type of game GT5 never set out to be in the first place?

People who say PD does it only for the money are crazy. If they would be we would be at Gran Turismo 9 or so now. With them releasing a DLC with cars that are already on the disc for $10 a piece. Releasing 1 game in 6 years and not releasing DLC for 6 months already is a really good way of earning money!:P

Tell me this isn't what you wanted for GT5 with a straight face:idea:

I don't hate Kaz, PD or GT5....I just want a BETTER game. Tell me fanboys...WHY is that such a bad thing??

edit...one thing I'm starting to HATE Tsukuba!!! PLEASE PD stop using that track ALL the damn time!!!

I could do without them using tsukuba for the for and nine hour races. Use something more exciting.

Even with the seasonal it's been used in 38% of them!! And it's the most used track in Apsec 9 times, then monza 7 times and a few used 6 times.

That's all well and good saying it's a car collecting game. BUT PD made such a hash of the in car economy that collecting every car is an absolute sod. Add in the mind numbingness of the UCD changing every 6 days then it gets even worse. Then the "updates" that made it EVEN HARDER, like the 1 mill cap of xfers. I'm trying to collect every car and have missed loads when they appeared in the UCD but I didn't have the funds. Whereas in Forza, if I have the dosh I just get the car I want WHEN I want.

No, I don't want Dan Greenwaltynuts

He wanted two more years for development but had to release the game right? So wait some time for the full potential of this game.

I for one still love this game. It's the first Gran Turismo I've played (apart from GT5P) and I am still amazed what this game has to offer. Go play Need for Speed/Burnout/GRID/F1 2010 and see how quick you're back to GT5 because they don't even have half of the things GT5 has.

Of course I would like more premium cars and tracks and I'm sure they will be released as DLC somewhere in the future.

Quoted for YEAH!ness

Yeah but in Forza you can use every single car in the game "out of the box" as it were because every car is unlocked on Arcade mode and so you don't even need to spend any money. It kind of spoils it for me. I would have preferred to have unlocked them during the game.

My biggest disappointment with this game is the use of resource outside of racing/tuning.

Who seriously would rather take photos of their cars than have the ability to truly turn their car (Like dialing in MAF tables, A:F Ratio, variable boost pressure, timing, etc - and have a bad tune go wrong and dmg the motor) to maximize their driving style and exemplify their individual tuning and driving capabilities? The developers took their eye off the ball, as IGN reported, and gave us an unfinished product lacking in so many areas - they might as well have released a polished and updated gfx GT4, which is evidently what they did, but with more skylines.

How on earth is that a good thing? I play games to have FUN, not to have a second job. And unfortunately, GT5 lacks in the fun department. The fact we have to grind like crazy to get the cars we at least want to try out is ridiculous. Getting cars you want in this game is a CHORE, especially with how insanely expensive a lot of them are.

Funny. I play NFS Shift 2, Burnout 3, and NFS Hot Pursuit on a regular basis and I barely touch GT5. Because like I said, the game has everything in it but the most important ingridient: fun. I expected GT5 to at least be as enjoyable as the previous games, but unfortunately, I didn't get that.

^I have "fun" by playing online and challenging awesome racers, with the most realistic physics engine that matches real life vehicle counterparts, that no other game matches on a console.

You see how we all have an opinion.

Check out the photomode forum, LOTS of content. And the Photo competitions are really competitive. Photomode is not useless, it has a pretty big fan base

Fair enough. If that's what you enjoy about GT5, good for you, really. But to me, the physics are only part of the GT exprience. I'm not big with online gaming, and there are only few games I truly enjoy playing online. So single player is really big for me. And unfortunately, the single player in GT5 is very lacking compared to other racing games, and especially compared the previous GTs.

No, I won't leave PD alone. They are behind in everything except graphics. It's pretty sad when the competitor can release a new title with the same features as GT5 in 2 years that takes PD 5-6. If I had known that GT5 was going to be a half baked game I would have just bought a disc and not the whole collector's edition.

I would say, generously, that 3% of gt5 owners care about the photo mode. Wasted resource from a marketing aspect.

Some of you guys still complaining even after 6-7 months? Move on guys..there's nothing you can do about it. Just make a proper suggestions to PD & hope they can add your suggestions/ideas into GT6.

That's what i've been thinking

My only disappointment with this game is the lack of content really. I get tired of seeing the track filled with standard models.
The driving physics are on point though as well as the graphics.

Dan Greenawalt said that he likes the Gran Turismo franchise too. Your argument is invalid.

I know I know. I only said that because that JohnnyMapang is always posting FORZA in the GT section. He's always making jerky remarks about GT. So, an eyeball for an eyeball lol

That's kinda why I don't care for GreenAwalt's fanbase. He made a game that is being compared to the GT series when they serve completely different purposes. Forza is a great game. But, it isn't what GT is. It's not a Sim like GT is. And oh how annoying it is to hear someone call Forza AND GT arcade simulators. GT is no iRacing, but it certainly isn't arcade.

You hear that Johnny!?!?!?!

lol

Okay, okay, I now get your point. 👍

I agree with some of your comments but reading the article you can see features that are missing from GT. For example the community side of FM4 especially the rivals mode which allows you to challenge your friends laptimes. This is something that cannot be done on GT5 because it doesn't even have friends leaderboards!

Like i've said many times, give me GT5 graphics, physics with Forza gameplay features and you would have the perfect racing game.

I agree Forza & GT are very different. However the advantage Forza has over GT5 is the fun factor.
