Stop Quitting the race if you're the host

I always quit.

But not because I'm loosing, is because I don't get matched in the same race with my friend. We always pick the same car, tires, no abs, and stuff to have fun races..

I don't feel like racing all alone with S or N tires with a stock car against some ****ing tuned R tires fited cars.

It is always the same thing, about 99% of the online "racers" choose that Elise or that Evo X.

Let me get this straight, PD picks the online races for GT5P, but doesnt have anyway of making everyone use the same tires, or race cars of the same class. I won't have GT5P until US launch, so I'm a bit confused as to how it goes online. Its actually possible to join a game where you can have N tires on while others use R tires? Is there separate rooms for standard and Pro physics or do they race together to? I find this as a gross oversight, and would make racing online even more painful experience than what I already knew GT5P was going to be.:guilty:

Polyphony Digital uses a 'matchmaker' system base on the person's region proximity (or how close they are), what event they have chosen and QTS points they used for their car. There are different events to cater different peoples needs whether they want to use Pro or Standard Physics. The Beginner and Intermediate events tend to be set to standard physics while Expert events uses Professional physics. For Beginners events there are no QTS tuning points, you can choose what car you want required by the event but its in stock form with no adjustments. The grid in these events is determined on how fast the person drives on the track, so the slower people are usually in the front while the fastest are at the back.

Intermediate and Expert events take advantage of QTS points. The QTS gives an indicator of handicap the person is using for their car. As for example, you can tune your car to have more grip or more power but these take up QTS points. Cetain events have a maximum limit that they can't exceed, therefore its not possible for people to have the highest power and the best tyres at the same time so they make compromises. The person which enters the race which has the least QTS points has the biggest handicap so they start in the front while people with the most QTS starts at the back. Typically alot of people tune their cars to the maximum QTS points required to enter the race so they have the same value, for this their grid position is usually randomised as a result. Its up to you whether you want to handicap to such an extent and if you're sufficient enough to race in N tyres while others in R tyres for example.

The example you just gave is, at least to me, 2 blocks. not just 1.

You're drafting on someboy, get close, pull to the right. The guy does the same. He blocked you.

If you still have the momentum and the reflexes, you swerve to the left to keep on gaining on him. If he pulls to the left (as you said, to 'his racing line'), he's technically blocking you a 2nd time.

At least that's how I see it.

Also, as you gave F1 example, the same principle applies. You only get to change lane 1 time and that's it. the return to your original racing line, if done while the driver in the back is trying to go there as well, counts as a 2nd block and it's illegal.

In F1 the driver can swerve to block once, and then he may move back to the racing line to take the corner.

If, while moving back to the racing line, he blocks the driver behind for a second time, there is no problem with the rules.

On the quitting issue, I've only quit one race. This was when I first had the game and was testing all the options.

If I get rammed off the track into last place, I keep playing, and usually pass at least half the players that dont quit before the end. I've even won a few races after being rammed off to the back of the pack.

People that quit races after being rammed off remind me of babies that spit their dummies/pacifiers out of the pram because they are upset.

Just grow up and be a man.

LOL my grid position 99.9% is last, sometimes 15th..... 👍
i find it hard to gain positions however, but most of the time im finishing between 5th and 7th keeping the gap to the leader constant.
i often saw the guy from the pole winning the race though... So im not sure about your theory there( especially for racing suzuka pro 650pp )

It's more fun anyway starting from the last place lol, The Ford GT Test Car is pretty much supreme and if you're good enough you can pretty much come 1st-3rd easy :)

Then you should probably stay away from the online mode until private lobbies are in place, shouldn't you?

I stay away from the online mode as much as I can, but when my friend ask me to race I cannot say no, we've been racing together online since GT4 came out and I enjoy racing him, so much that when we join in the same race, we brake when the race just starts and let everyone overtake us so we can have a nice one on one with a standing start, apart from the R3-tires-highly-aerodydamic-tuned-car-guys.

I think one of us is always hosting, since we always start 1st and 2nd. Lower PP I guess.

And yes. I'm waiting for online private lobbies to come out.

And yes, I'm selfish.

And no. I don't regret for anything I've done.

Well, that's what happen when they give us this optionless online mode.

I mean, I'd love to have a good clean race with all of you, seriously, but what happen online is very, very different, 12 out of the 15 other cars is trying to win at any price, even if that means ramming you out of the race and using superultraslicks tires and highly tuned cars. That's why I don't care too much about them.

Thats why I explained the Suzuka 'Pro' Races are based on QTS points since it is a professional event, not on the persons ability. Professional races uses QTS points unlike beginner races as mentioned above. So even good drivers can win from pole despite the low QTS.

Thanks a lot for the info. Doesn't sound too exciting after playing FM2 online for so long now, but I may be suprised.:)

Great lap with that car, Sphinx. 👍
Still, if it hadn't been for that slight mistake exiting Degner, you could have shaved at least a couple of tenths off that time.

I agree. 👍 In fact, there a lot of areas where more time can be shaved off.

Which wheel are you using? (I'm assuming it's a wheel because the driving is smoother than I could ever achieve with a controller)

A DFP, but never really used it until GT5P came out, so I'm still a bit of a newb in that area.

Thanks for the comments. 👍

I was about to say that is an impressive time, considering that lap was far from perfect. You'll probably be extremely dangerous once you get completely used to the DFP.

Maybe you should, I've had a few occasions now where after the start the whole pack started to crash into each other because a few cars in front didn't start racing after the start sign, maybe you should concider to just start your race park your cars next to the track to let everybody racing in a normal way pass and then get back on the track to play your little game. It's a bit annoying crashing into someone on the start not being able to go around them because you simply don't expect behavior like that on a racetrack....

i'd like to make a point and this thread seems the closest theme in which to bring it up. I think race payouts shout be tabulated by how many people start a race, not how many finish. If two other drivers and I pull a big lead on the field and 5 people quit out, at the end I still beat them. I want to be paid for beating 8 racers not 3. thats a difference of millions of dollars-yen. With each race taking sometimes as much as 10 mins just to start i think I earned those duckets.

Hmmm... From my experiences, I have noticed a drop in winnings, but not that much of a drop. If the race started with a full grid then half exit, I still get 20,000cr that's not much of a drop from 25,000cr for the pro races. 👍

I just won a race that started with 5 players, after 3 laps (of five) I was over 5 secs ahead of everyone, before the end everyone else quit. I received a grand total of $0.00 for my win.

I have an easy solution for this. Host should get 500 credits per participating car if the host finishes the race. Then you would get something even if everybody quits. They are using hosts bandwith and host should be rewared somehow :)

What do you guys think of this?

I dont see why you should be forced to finish a race, especially of 5 laps with no chance of coming any higher than last, PD should sort this out. Not to mention the penalty system which is ****e. PD get it sorted!!!

Any Host that quits a race ends the race for everyone else. That is selfish and inconsiderate. The host should respect the right of everyone else to race.

Yeah like the consideration you get when bashed from behind on a corner, get given a ramming penalty for BEING rammed, and then get a short cut penalty for trying to get back on the track.

Fair point. I suppose that's what happens when you mix Human Beings together online. Private races should sort that out provided PD make it possible in a future update.

I tried 10 races tonight... 3 were quit within 5 seconds after the start, 1 was stopped before the start, 4 were stopped while in the final 2 laps... nice.

The remaining two races was nothing else but elise bumper cars-fest.

Do people really aim to take the enthusiasm out of me online? i mean.. just the thought of GT5 online made my mouth water... after doing a few races like these i just feel like im the only one that is interested in honest, clean races with different cars.

Now it's just a field of 11 elises against me, doing whatever it takes to take each other out and ram as hard as they can, and if that does not work.. they just quit.

I really want to play online.. but for now i have decided not to even try anymore.. i sincerely hope that they will fix this soon.. not in that fall update with damage, but soon.. otherwise i wont be online while it's in this poor state.
