I say Tokyo R246, Cote D' Azure(sp?), or Seattle, something with lots of turns..

R246 & 787B?? ;)

Whatever it ends up as, i'm lookin forward to it!

I'm rooting for the R-GT fully tuned w/ over 1000hp @ complex string or complex string reverse.

Reverse would be my first choice as it seems to be the most challenging track in the game. (just my opinion)

I also figure the rgt fully tuned is one of the biggest challenges to properly control at the limit.

After that, I don't know, I would have to think some more...
Later.

I'd be intrested in a classic race, first week I think was mentioned a few times. Perhaps make the Castrol Supra the annual event since it is the mascot car after all.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Castrol supra? Mascot ?
Where in the world did you get that?

Btw, Im not really a fan of redoing the original first race... we never did enough of a variety to warrant redoing what we have already done.

I think an enduro would be cool... In honor of the grueling task and heavy load that has been on boombexus for the last year. ;)

Back with more next time I think of it... later. :D

I like this idea. Give the budget you can spend and one has to go BUY the car AND do what they will to it. One couldn't just use a car in their garage and mod that within said budget. No other limits....

Or begin adding limits like;

- X budget and car MUST me MR (or FF, FR, etc)
-X budget and spec tire
-X budget, spec tire, HP cap

you get the idea...

I second the idea of an endurance race ..

Could try a new format, too. How about taking a track that doesn't have an enduro, and submitting your best 10 hotlaps (could be even more, 15 or 20) ... the best total time wins. (You could have as many tries as you want to get the specified number of laps, they wouldn't have to be run back-to-back). The race would reward both speed and consistency.

Just a thought ...

...

@scuderia229, we've already done the credit limit thing. It's fun, but not quite the masterpiece I think Kent wants for week 52 ;)

The Castrol Supra has been the feature race car in the GT series, including GT3, often it was one of the first cars you'd see in preview shots and promos.

Mascot, featue, emphazied...what you will. That is just my take on it.

I'm new here so I don't know these things, but I'll learn...hahah

52 weeks = 1 year correct?

How about 52 laps on a circuit that is 5.2 miles/km long (or close in the game) with a budget of 52,000cr?

:-)

Ok, I thought you were talking about the weekly race series and the castrol as a mascot for that... Still, I wouldn't exactly call it the game mascot, but anyway...

I still like the rgt & cxs reverse...
It would take major skill to win a week like that if someone like mr.p or odp was to put in some work.

I also wanted to mention that I always see cxs races, but never a cxs race in reverse. I figure people don't know that track as well. That would contribute to making a fun and new race for sure.

I remember getting whipped on cxs in a gt-one back in something like week 28, and that was a great race. redeyedracer beat me by like 10 seconds... I sure would like to have another shot at that... :mischievous:

Later. :D

I just thought of a must have for week 52. An old custom that died... a race title.
The first 20-30 races had titles... "skyhigh @ trail mtn" "astranomical" "rally round the family"...
And now... nothing, so please boom, atleast hit us a catchy title. :D

Complex II is fine with me... be it a fully modded RUG RGT or a stock Mini Cooper I don't care :mischievous:

Who'da thought this would still be going strong a year later! Good work on bringing us the weekly Boom, may it continue until GT4 hits the shelves 👍

I hope that a lot of the racers from the beginning decide to turn up for the week and give boom even more work when doing the results :D

I actually tried it just for fun with the arcade Mini Cooper when it was time for TORC 11, race 2. Took about 6 minutes and a bit more to complete one lap, I think. Didn't bother trying again, too long! hehe

That would be crazy though!

I may have an idea....really wouldnt be "challenging" per se, but it certainly would be fun....Gokents you know what I'm talkin about ;) Its been awhile but I still havent forgotten about it

IDAFC, Oh hell yeah I remember, infact I still have a huge piece of data in a pm that was never sent to anyone but you and der alta.

Im also gonna stress one thing...

I want challenge, but not at the cost of fun.

If you make week 52 all challenge and no fun, your gonna end up with one un-happy racer... :(

But yeah, I would really like to see complex 2 & the maxed rgt...

Never liked the rgt at max, but one day I took the time to run it at deepforest 2 and damn, now I love thing... Just waiting for the chance to try her out in a race. :mischievous:

Anyway, like boom said, keep those suggestions coming !

the RGT (with no TC or ASM) maxed at deepforest (run eitherway) would be one hell of a challenge given the car's desire to loose the back end and deepforest's rolls/bumps/catchy curbs and corners that combine all of those goodies. Add in super-slick tires and you will have one tough challenge.

complex string has it's own challanges (roller slalom section, flat slalom section and tough braking sections - among others) that would challenge the maxed RGT... but i think given how fast and tight deepforest is and the RGT I think that is the tougher challange (minus the enduro factor).

This idea gets my vote 👍
Sounds like a blast:D

scuderia229,
I am glad you agree about the rgt, but your idea has two issues for me.

1. no tcs.
sure it can be a sign of skill, but it takes out fun as well as lap time.
2. deepforest.
If I remember correctly we ran an rgt at deepforest not too long ago, and on top of that, we run df all the time.

However, bollocks...
Thanks for the support, I very much would like to see that sort of match up for the 52nd week. :D

complex string reverse is just damned near impossible.
Slowing down progressively on the circles, and hitting the fast slolam at the very end. :banghead:  :P

Oh well, like boom said, keep those suggestions coming.

I second the longer (5 to 15 laps with pitstop) races.

I'd also suggest a race where the difference in laptimes must be as small as possible. Submit 2 (or more, but that needs calculation) laps for a given free run. The ones with the closest 2 laptimes win. With a draw, the fastest lap wins.

This would rule out the "lucky shot".

Variation on this theme: Index racing. Take any car, but meet the given laptime. Faster laps are not allowed.

Example:
Given laptime: 1'30.000
submit A - 1'29.999 - disqualified
submit B - 1'30.000 - perfect win
submit C - 1'31.000 - runner up

This is allready done in the sport of dragracing.

Hey guys...

A new host means some new race thoughts should come out too.

Bring 'em to this thread and enlighten me on your choices for races to come.
:D

It was actually introduced into dragracing to enable the less fortuned people race against huge budget cars (or bikes).

Yeah, it's called Bracket Racing.
You make a few runs and choose the time which you feel you can come closest to repeating. This is called the "Dial In".
You're then paired up with another and the difference between your dial ins is the interval between "greens".
If your run is quicker than your dial in, you're DQ'd. This is called a "Break Out".

I like the credit limit idea. Any car, any tuning. It would be interesting to see what cars people choose and what aspect of tuning they like to spend their money on.
