Super Unofficial DiRT 4 Thread (PS4/XB1/PC)

I'm sort of stuck in the middle. Gamer handling is boring, but I reached my limit with the cars swapping ends unprovoked in Simulation mode.
This used to happen in early Codemasters games like TOCA 2--normal difficulty was way too easy, but the next step up was impossible.
Gotta wonder if Codemasters will address this at all, with a patch or something. While some say it isn't an issue I've read that a good amount of people are just plain upset with the Sim mode of Dirt 4. I dropped it down to Gamer mode to complete career but it's not very satisfying and Sim mode has become too frustrating to play.

Per Codies roadbook today, the leagues are near :D
:cheers::cheers:

I got the opposite impression:

We also have been making progress on Clubs but this is still some way off being ready to release.

On the plus side the RX teasing sounds promising!

The racing itself was spectacular but Andy and I were actually there to have some very important meetings with our current (and hopefully future partners) in the World RX paddock. Suffice to say that those discussions went very well and hopefully we will be in a position to talk more about their outcomes in the not so distant future.

Played a few of the beginning Rally events today in D4. I like the game but can definitely tell a difference between the handling and DR's handling. I chose 'simulation' and the wheel and car weight seems heavier than DR. My first thought was 'strange' but regardless it's good. I'll probably not play D4 a whole lot until I've had my fill of DR since going between the titles takes some practice and getting used to. It's definitely easier going from DR to D4 and not the other way around.

So far I prefer DR. D4 is very good, but DR seems more professional and polished. Can't put my finger on it, but maybe D4 comes off as a little more for those that have never played a DiRT game before. Like when I finished a stage in the beginnng event the co-driver says 'nice job!' as if I never drove a Rally car on dirt before.

The team building aspect seems deep in D4, but I don't really mind the basic team building in DR. I know a lot of players also enjoy livery editors, but that hasn't been a priority for me in a while. I just want to get out and drive. Either way, I see myself having fun with D4 eventually.

Your co-driver will say different things at the end of each stage, and it's not always complimentary. I binned it in Sweden the other day and finished a stage in twenty-fifth place. Nicky was pretty critical of me at the end.

Are you playing with a wheel and pedals or a pad
A pad. I can't afford a wheel. And I don't play enough racing games to justify the cost.

I'm sure that with enough practice, I'll get used to the cars like I did with Land Rush. But unlike Rally and Historic Rally, there's not much variety and now that I've won World Rallycross - I tweaked the difficulty settings to make it manageable - there's not much of a reason to go back to it.

@TRGTspecialist & @Pfei - yeah likely not this month (or the next 3) but the fact theyre mentioning it makes me feel better
The chat about the RX stuf makes me hopeful of RX dlc but I so want more rally locales , at least like 2 more

So do I. What's in the game is a lot of fun (except Australia; I hate the open-air sections with the fences along the side of the road), but it just makes me see the potential in it.

I'd like to see snowy tarmac (Austria?), a tarmac/gravel hybrid (Poland?), a high-altitude rally (Argentina?) and something muddy.

Wish they don't take too much time to add leagues. After im done with the campaign, i won't have much to do apart from community events and pro tour.

I like the rallycross in the game on SIM handling, I just think there needs to be more of it, and they need to swap out the stats for the polo and the Ibiza because the Ibiza is really quick and the polo is really slow. Also I have a t300rs if that helps the opinion.

Can someone help me?
I played some multiplayer game, and after returning to my career, I lost all my mechanics, hired just before (and quite costly). Is it OK? Is it happened by design or is it a bug?
It seems completely unreal that a few MP stages are equal to a few career championships with countless of stages. Is there any codemasters support email? I'd happily ask them about it.

I suspect my issues with rallycross came about because of a glitch. I unlocked Fearless mode by winning the Land Rush title, and experimented with it a bit to see what it was like. I turned it off afterwards, but only by switching on exterior cameras. I didn't realise it at the time, but my difficulty was at 95% and the AI rating was blank. So I think I've been competing with Brutal AI.

Still dislike rallycross, though. I know Hell and Holjes from Dirt Rally, so they're not particularly challenging. Lydden Hill is also carried over, but it's dull (and in the wet, I can joker every lap and still win by a farcical amount). The AI is hopeless at Montalegre (especially on the short circuit). Loheac is the only challenging circuit, but only becauae I cannot get the weight to transfer the way that I want it to at speed.

There's an easy way around it - don't use your own cars.
This also applies to Freeplay mode, custom events will advance your contracts as well. Though personally I do like that team progression isn't strictly locked to career mode, because having to constantly grind the limited selection of events there to make any headway would suck all the fun out of the game pretty fast.

I haven't felt the need to grind events. The only reason I have revisited events is because I haven't won them the first time around. And I have repeated the opening one-stage event to refresh the offers for events that I haven't completed yet.

Excuse me, not trying to play smart or anything; just sharing my experience and trying to help:
1- "A pad" ==> Wheel is a must in my opinion to play racing games. Full stop, end of story. Nothing else comes close to giving you the full enjoyment.
2- "And I don't play enough racing games to justify the cost." ==> I see you have nearly 33,000 posts in here, never saw anyone having more than that; so it seems to me that you are pretty active in here and pretty involved/dedicated to racing; it's really a waste and a pity to not get a wheel.
3- "I can't afford a wheel" ==> You can get a wheel pretty cheap; nearly about 100 to 150$ I think for a FFB wheel.

I'm no rich guy either, but sometimes a relatively small amount of money can make us really happy.
I built my own RIG for like 20$ (using my baby's sitting chair and some camping chair), and bought a used G29 for 200$.
The overall cost hovers less than a midrange-entry level smartphone let's say! Or couple of wheels for my car! Or a mistake from me hitting my car! etc... You get the idea!

Anyways, just sharing my thoughts and encouraging you to make the leap of faith!

I should introduce you to Famine at some point.

so it seems to me that you are pretty active in here and pretty involved/dedicated to racing
I am. But my collection of games extends beyond racing games - in fact, racing games only make up about one in ten games that I have played. My most-played games are Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Final Fantasy XV, Fallout 4 and Far Cry 4.

Wheel is a must in my opinion to play racing games. Full stop, end of story. Nothing else comes close to giving you the full enjoyment.
I enjoy Dirt 4 a lot. I'm no fan of Land Rush or Rallycross, but I thoroughly enjoy Rally and Historic Rally, even without a wheel.

You can get a wheel pretty cheap; nearly about 100 to 150$ I think for a FFB wheel.
I have to be economical with the space on my XBox hard drive. I've currently used up about 65% of the space on it and there's a whole host of upcoming releases that I'm looking forward to, and none of them are racing games - Assassin's Creed Origins, Far Cry 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Chances are good that I'll have to uninstall one or two of my current games (both to save space on the hard drive and to get a discount when I trade them in), and Dirt 4 will probably be one of them.
