Got a question for you pros. I finally got my hands on the RZ.
Been tuning it, checking out tunes for it here, some good tunes here and there but im not satisfied at all.

My problem is the 2nd gear. Downshifting to second produces horrible oversteer. i have to force myself to take corners real slow or in 3rd to over come this, which is pretty inefficient.

Ive tried all sorts of tuning, lsd, susp, toe, camber, ballast but i cant get the right combo going.

How do you guys go about minimizing this through tuning? Anyone have a magical tune?

My supra is stock, + turbo + weight redux 3 + no aero

If you like to drive it stock , the only thing you can modify is the brake balance. If you run stock 5/5 ,put some more brake to the front like 6/4 or 7/4 or 4/2....
The other solution would be to install the LSD and set higher deccel value, or a customizable suspension to play with it....or a transmission to set it differently.... But stock , the only alternative is the way you drive it and the brake balance.
In my opinion.
Have a good day.

my peeve with GT5, is car behaviour on downshift into high RPM, in turns., so I changed things around.

I am beginning to favor having taller gear ratio's, that means, slide your 2nd gear ratio left, to increase it's top speed, that way, when you downshift into 2nd (at the track location where you need to^), it won't be screaming in high rpm/revlock, and it' won't throw your car into over or understeer. Another favorable tactic, is when downshifting at a highspeed, say from 6th to 5th, or in your case, from 3rd to second, give the throttle a blip, to rev the engine, and then downshift. Also, never realease throttle in a snap anymore, un-squeeze it. I employ this tactic throughout the Nur now in my driving style, and can feel split seconds being shaved throughout, as the car is settled oh so much more nicely everywhere. (try it atop nurburgring kesselchen section, unsqueeze, blip, downshift, turn & grip at 215km/hr), whereas snap release, downshift, yields 180-190km/hr, and fearful gambling slides.

The transmission is the one thing I haven't used to try to minimize this, since I haven't really figured out how to properly work my gear ratios yet. Always manage to screw em up a bit. Will install the fully customized tranny and work on it tonight. Thanks for the info.

Understandable stormbringer but you have to remember (and this was a slap in the face for me since this is a video game) is that not one setup is going to work on every car. It took me literally hours to get my Supra's transmission to where I wanted it, I will let you know this though, I put the real life gear ratios on it to begin with, and worked from there. I try to do that with all of my cars at least starting out is just doing a google search for "Supra gear ratios" or something to that affect and find a website and try plugging those in to see what you get. Might be a little better than what you have, at least it was for me once I started adding power upgrades.

That sounds like a good starting point for tuning the tranny. Will look it up in a little bit. Thanks.
