Taking advantage of sponsorship

So at the end of the year we're going to get the new game - GT6 and new cars and liveries. What I'm wondering though is why PlayStation and Gran Turismo Series don't take advantage of their own sponsorship like for example Forza does?

Many racing cars and even Super GT series are sponsored by Gran Turismo or were, not so long ago.

I'm a little annoyed that there are many cars with GT or PS sponsorship that aren't in the game and obviously cost PD or PS money as adverts on those cars aren't for free.

And as GT Series are one of the main sponsors of Super GT series I cannot understand why they don't implement a proper 'Super GT' series into the game as I feel if Forza would be in the same position they would take full advantage of it.

There are so many cars with GT or PS sponsors, here's a few...

This car I feel should be added in the game. The Hybrid4 version and the 2011 version which lost Le Mans to Audi by 13 seconds. Both have Gran Turismo 5 on the rear wing.

Maybe we'll get this model as other R8's are already in the game and new premium models are confirmed.

Welcome to the World of Poliphony Digital. Where odd decisions are the norm.

This.

OP, your argument sounds constructive, realistic and logical. It makes plenty of sense and is nothing PD can't do.

That's why they'll ignore you. Because they don't do constructive, or realistic, or logical, or sense.

You found the final car list for GT6 and chose to make a post about the lack of sponsored cars rather than posting the list? That's rather amazing...

This has been going on for years though. The amount of cars i thought would be in GT5 because of all the sponsor strips on the windscreens, and the weren't.

I have now learnt to expect very little, then the disappointment isn't so bad.

That was a must for all race cars at the 24h of Nürburgring. This indicates not that these cars have to be in the game.

I can't believe how certain people think just because cars have a GT sponsoring on them, they must be sooner or later in the game.

Tons of cars have GT logos, normally all cars from an entire racing series. Including cars we definitely won't get in near future. Porsches as example.

Turning this on its head, how sweet would it be for PD to create a Playstation branded livery for every premium road car? That way when you've brought it up to race spec, you'd have a lovely livery to cover it in?

Just because they sponsor a car or series it doesn't make it any easier to get in the game.
Being a sponsor doesn't necessarily give you any right to do whatever you want with the item you sponsored.
If Chevrolet tossed up a ad at Yankee Stadium that doesn't give them the right to making a New York Yankee edition Corvette.
The sponsorship cost money yes but it's serving it's purpose of being a advertisement.

I think the case of GT sponsoring whole series, I agree that expecting such cars to be in game due to advertising is pointless. The Porsche & VLN example makes this quite clear. However, the case of the Peugeot 908, the Oreca R8, the Pescarolos and the R8 LMS (Standard) prove that advertising and in-game presence DO have a link for PD. It's not a link of necessity but rather one of practicality: A relationship built on the grounds of sponsorship can grow in order to make easier the inclusion of the cars in game because PD, being somewhat related to the sponsored party, can access the car easier.

Furthermore, advertising in this cases can benefith both parties: Not only Sony/PlayStation/Gran Turismo got to show their logos on the Peugeot LMP1, Peugeot also got to show and advertise their Le Mans cars in GT5 and, it must be said, in a much detailed and favourable way than their rivals, Audi, got represented in-game. Games like GT sell, and some manufacturers like that exposure. Peugeot for instance was represented in GT5 as "Look at us, we build this :censored:ing amazing Le Mans car that wipes it's shoes all over the other, out dated and poorly modelled, Diesel rival. We do Diesel better than Audi". With that in mind, why leaving a commercial relationship as a mere one-way advertising relationship?

It just makes absolute sense that cars sponsored by GT/PS are featured in GT. It even makes sense about cars sponsored by Nissan! (As in the DeltaWing, GTA cars, etc.)
