Why do the cars do this? I seen stock lambos do this in real life but how is it even possible?

I believe it is due to a misfire sometimes- very possible that I am mistaken in this case though . But more commonly when droplets of unburnt fuel ignite due to the hot exhaust pipe 👍
 
I apologise in advance for this not being a gt5 pic, but just showing how backfires should look like on gt5, considering how long it took them to make.....(note reflection on floor and car). Thanks to Shift 2 for the pic!

It's just a shame Shift 2 cannot export more than 10 seconds of dreadful glitchy out-of-sync replay footage...great photo though! ^_^

Well...i agree with you only in the part that they don't reflect on the car, but i think GT's backfires look a lot more realistic.
