I said exactly nothing about whether I think it's tasteful or not.

A Citroën DS with the Maserati V6 from an SM may or may not be tastefully executed, but if it's still got the 4-pot, it isn't a Citroën DS with the Maserati V6 from an SM.
 
I think David Lee is blowing smoke with the claim that it's an F40 engine. I think this for a couple of reasons:

1) I'm given to understand that there's a fair bit of commonality between the F120 and earlier F106 on which it's based, such as bore spacing and basic architecture, but the castings are very different. The F106 has a skirt at the rear of the block to house the flywheel and clutch assemblies, and then the drop gear assembly bolts onto that to deliver power to the gear stack beneath the motor. It's fairly apparent this Dino uses this configuration due to the engine orientation and its location laterally; plus the configuration was borrowed from the Dino and merely bolstered when developing those V8 cars. The F120 is a shorter casting and the flywheel and clutch are housed within the longitudinal transaxle bellhousing. Of course there's nothing to say the F120 can't be modified to work in the F106's place, but why go to the trouble and expense when it's worth also noting the stuff folks like Bob Norwood do with the F106. The F40 is special as an unmodified package but its power is easily eclipsed.

2) It's David Lee.

There's a long thread over on FChat about it. After sleuthing through pictures people have taken of that particular engine, consensus on FChat seems to be it was not a F40 engine to start, though it seems like the F40 engine actually shares more similarities with other Dino type V8s than thought.

Yeah, it's kind of incredible the run those motors had and how similar they remained apart from details related to application. 1973 to 2005 in displacements ranging from 2.0L to 3.6L, 2 to 5 valves per cylinder and in transverse and longitudinal orientation. Also available factory turbocharging without having to go for the halo cars. Plus the parts interchangeability.

Anyway, I figured I should probably post this since I teased it.

I'm not crazy about the fender vents, but they probably help to get the extra heat out.
 
The cars looks good but that last one ruined it. What in God's name is that damn spoiler? Nasty.

Those fenders :yuck:

I have seen worse though, everything looked fine to me though but, I won't stop you from disliking that one. Tastes are subjective.

Both the chassis and suspension are reinforced, the track is widened a whopping 14 inches, and the wheelbase is stretched 3 inches for increased stability at speed.

All of this sits on 2.5-inch front and 3.0-inch rear three-way adjustable coilovers that help provide 12 inches of suspension travel up front and 13.5 inches in back.

It's all wrapped in widebody fenders, a molded rally-style hood, lightweight doors, and a hard top all made from composite materials. Total weight is down a claimed 400-plus-pounds to 2,800 pounds due to the removal of the factory steel body parts.

Power comes from a Rothsport Racing-tuned 3.8-liter flat-6 that makes 365 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The engine started life at 3.6 liters and was bored out to 3.8 liters. the engine's internals, throttle bodies, and intake manifold are upgraded, and it's all controlled by a Motec ECU. Power is sent to all four wheels on this particular car, but Russell Built Fabrication also offers rear-wheel drive.

The Hofele kit on this (facelift D4 S8) one doesn't look too good. The front splitter doesnt fit it but the rear end is mint

It makes me wonder if Ford should've added a Focus ST & RS sedan for the US Markets since some Americans prefer those. Kinda like how Audi sells the S3 & RS3 here as a sedan.
 
The company that makes the kits is based in Ukraine. They're around $1700. They also have custom kits for other Fords like the Fiesta, Mondeo/Fusion and Mustang.
 
Looks like it wants to be a Subaru; not solely because of the wing, but it certainly plays a significant role.
 
According to the site, an RS kit will be coming soon for the sedans. I'm looking forward to that. Probably be more expensive than the ST kit.
