Tattoo&piercing

Outline of my newest project...

Just to clarify before you think: that's the ugliest tiger I've ever seen..
It's a Nue: body of a tiger, a snake as a tail and the head of a baboon đź‘Ť

^^^ Lookin good!

So, the process has began. My artist finally got her shop up and running after passing all inspections, etc. Very exciting. Anyways, did some prep measuring etc and discussed the project. We are talking about a piece that is a minimum of 18 inches by 22 inches on my back with some wrap arounds into the rib area. She has all she needs to start sketching out the ideas so we can start really looking at it.

Awesome man. Can't wait to see what you come up with. I just got mine touched up again a few weeks ago.

^ She's not going to have the bird on her head when she does your tattoo, is she?

Also, my wife and I are considering getting a tattoo on our ring fingers. I'm thinking either a Celtic knot or our wedding date. Possibly some combination of the two.

@Pako

That is awesome. Hope your work turns out just as good or better.

@TB

I would only do it if you've been together for a long time. It's kinda of risky if something happens you know. Not saying it will, just something to think about. It's one of those situations kind of similar to names.

I think 15 years this January qualifies as "a long time", doesn't it? :P

 I hope she has the bird on her head. That would ROCK! :D

She is super cool and a really good person that's an awesome artist! Love the ring tat idea by the way. I don't wear one because I lift all the time but have thought about getting one myself. đź‘Ť

The only complaint I've heard about hand tattoos is that the possibility of fading increases a lot more because of all the use a hand gets. Hope you do it though, I think it's a sweet idea.

Up until a few weeks ago I hadn't worn my wedding ring for the last 6 months because I had a strange rash, like I was becoming allergic to the platinum but after going back to wearing it, so far its fine.

And I completely understand about not wearing it lifting. Mine is no longer round due to not taking it off a few times, and I'm not chucking around nearly the weight you are. :scared:
Hope you do it though, I think it's a sweet idea.
It's only at the infant stages of discussion and even then it's only come up once. The reason my wife wants one in the first place is when she's in surgery she can't wear her ring and would still like that symbol there. :)

That's a fair request. Still would be pretty cool to do. Also, hope she makes it out ok :)

She helps perform the surgeries, she's not having surgery. In her words "It's not a good day until you're elbow deep in someone's guts."

Sometimes I worry about that girl.

 She's not the one I would worry about. :nervous:

Oh snap. Haha. :)

Cue the watch out we got a badass over here picture.

I've been looking at ideas and fonts for the last few days and I really like this one.

Im digging how the serifs give it a banded look but I'm a bit worried that it might be too thin and therefore fade too quickly.

Just like it is - January 16, 1999. :)

Double spaced looks a bit better:

I've heard of people branding themselves and then getting it tattooed over for a 3D effect. Probably would hurt like hell but the finished product would be cool to see.

Looks like the tattoo rings are off the table. She apparently neglected to mention that she talked to some people at work and the scrub the use before surgery more or less destroys tattoos.

Would have been nice to know that before I spent time looking for ideas...

What's stopping you from getting one? I mean it would be odd but still cool lol

It was going to be a 15th anniversary present to each other. There's more to the story than that but I'm not going into that here. ;)

So, I'm in the beginning stages of finding an artist/shop to do my next tattoo. I'm basically just getting Taurus from a well known company on my calf, but since this tattoo is one being done off an already created design, I'm a bit curious as to how the artists manage to replicate designs people bring in & create an outline for them. Do they just place an outline over your design, copy it, & then apply that to the skin? It's a stupid question, but I am curious since I do want this done right & with as much of the body details. It's just been some years since my first which is now gone. For reference, though.

Going to be in black, but hopefully the artist will find a way so the body does not just blend into a blob.
Only talked to 1 artist, but he's quoting me $250-$300 in 3 or so hours. It should be a little bit bigger than this image as I do want it to take up most of the calf & be noticeable. Fair price?

^ My artist would copy or scan the sample and bring it into Adobe Illustrator where she would manipulate it until it was copy ready where she can print it out on her carbon paper for the transfer.

Not sure if this is standard practice but makes sense to me. :)

I figured it was a simple process, just didn't think that simple. :dunce: Hmm, so I suppose I'll have to print it out then, or something instead of showing the image off my phone like the first artist. I did find an image of someone who did this exact image as a tattoo, but I've been weary of using it as an example for whomever my artist will be; I don't want to be discouraged by looking like I'm copying someone. :indiff:
