Has anyone been drifting with sport tyres to simulate FD or D1 cars? Will try it tonight on my 370Z. Curious to test it because it would be more akin to what a FD car would be like (With Nitro the Z34 could produce up to 800 hp which is what Chris Forsburg runs with his Z34).

Been thinking that a S tyre comp would be suitable since I read some forum posts. CH comps are fine because we just use the tyres we always do, but we know a JZA80 running 900hp with competition spec setup wouldn't use such tyre compounds IRL (not saying we shouldn't run high HP on CH though, I reckon lobbies should be CH only).

It would be interesting to try because even when (CH) comps run high hp limits they can have a street legal vibe to it, even grass roots in some cases. That's not a bad thing either because I dearly love the D1SL cars but with SH tyres or other, grippier tyres it can be more like what we see done at D1GP.

I highly doubt sport tires are equal to what FD/D1 drivers use. I think Comfort Softs are the closest thing, anything higher and it just gets too grippy in my opinion.

I've been waiting for ages for some one to say that. I would still recommend using CS though as I find that SH really do limit your angle I've been running test on tire compounds in GT6 for a few weeks now and find that CM and CS really change the speed and entry style with a better compound you can really hold some big slides into corners. I have not had the chance to try tandeming with anyone on these compounds as you know most lobbies are restricted and I the guys from my old team have not played GT for quite a while now. It would be very interesting to see the outcome as I believe that this would advance the comp scene on GT a great deal.

Any how sorry to hijack your thread I just got excited to see someone else thinking the same way I have been since the release of GT6 the advancement in physics deserves to be tested.

Good luck to you guys.

There is a big part with like the tyres on FD cars that you wouldn't be able to replicate.

Because with FD the cars are allowed to run upto a set size of tyre depending on what there weights are.
Here is the weight to tyre size that FD uses.
2100-2399lbs up to 235mm
2400-2699lbs up to 245mm
2700-2799lbs up to 255mm
2800-2899lbs up to 265mm
2900-2999lbs up to 275mm
3000-3099lbs up to 285mm
3100-3199lbs up to 295mm
3200-3299lbs up to 305mm

But some of the cars in FD and D1 use tyres that are a softer compound then most people would think but again, it really comes down to what the cars weight is, what sort of power it's putting out and most importantly. The drivers style.

D1gp cars were allowed to use any tire compound as long as it was road worthy and commercially available, racing slicks were banned in 2001 after Taniguchi won the series on them.
Really depends on which rule book you want to play by.

After some thought it sort of leads me to think why PD didn't implement a tire width system instead of S/M/H to increase traction. One compound per category different width tire to increase contact patch.

I know that JZX uses a Federal 595 UHP, Toyo Proxes R1R's. His cars vary around the 300hp to 600hp. I'd say the tires are close to a Sports Soft compound or Medium. Mostly its tire width, and car weight that will change the drifting.

595's are amazing on pretty much anything over 200hp (depending on the weight too)

But they can come apart pretty badly tho.

Got a new PS3, so i'll finally be getting back into GT :3
getting it all set up now, loading my backup from my old PS3 as i type :sly:

Well having no A/C in this heat is now like driving round in a sauna.

And ahh yeah...

Yeah, the heat is insane.. went to Manly beach on Saturday, currently sitting here with 2nd degree burns... ****ing blisters are killing me

Alright, enough of GTA. Lets all get on GT6 tommorow, sometime tomorrow afternoon. We need practice as a group.

Who plays on a 250GB Slim console? Because apparently, it doesn't work on either of mine.
it doesn't even work on the new one i've got, which got delivered TODAY. i'm gonna put my fist through a ****ing wall wall.
$500 later and its still ****ed, and nobody else, anywhere on the internet has the same problem, what the **** is wrong with this ****

I use to play on a 320GB slim and it ran fine but I have noticed that my GT6 disk is already wearing out which is something im not very happy with.

I think you have the glitch yo! Let me post it soon.
Actually post whats wrong.

1.03 is live on GT6 and boy do I LOVE the FT-1 now. It's an amazing looking machine and drifts very well for a stock car.

Freezes on the name selection screen.
Freezes there on both of my 250gb Slim consoles, but runs perfectly on my sisters 500gb console

I gotta say the new car is disappointing, it's rather slow, cornering isn't that great, tops out at 297km/h, can't do anything other than change tyres but it can drift somewhat decently...

It weighs a fair bit judging from the braking distance you need for it which explains the handling characteristics. Makes it more akin to the old JZA80

Enjoyed the team session today, hope to see more of us this friday. For those who weren't there, we have decided to make Friday's our official teamJDMT Only meet days. There won't be a specific time, but sometime mid evening would be great. It was quite fun with only just the 4 of us. So the full team, would be a absolute blast!

I'm out unless it's a cool day since my room has no AC so it's been getting to like high 30's to mid 40's during the middle of the day so I'd rather not have the PS3 on in that heat.
