TEGA: V8 supercars general chat

That's one way of putting it...

Re points: I couldnt care less if Bright had won all the rounds, the point is he hasnt won a single round and he is still leading the championship
This system does not promote racing, as drivers do not see the point in risking themselves or the car just for a couple of points
Bring back the racing and the passing please

Wow...this is the last place I would think to find a v8 supercar thread.

Anyway, what a race! Even with a stop-go, Marcos came second!(feel for scafe but he's had it his way for long enough....)

I reckon with about 9 or so laps more, Marcos could have roundd up Iingle and made it a historic 5 in a row. But how anoying is the 'snickers' pit pass or what ever. Theirs a bloody race goong on and we get that s#$t!

That goes donw as a race to remember

And dont get me started on the points system. Get rid of the 'driver drops worst round' thing as well. When a driver has enough points to win the champoinship 3/4's down the season, he should be the winner. Having the drop round thing really puts a spanner in the works. Hopefully the points are more spaced out next year. But I tell ya those SBR crew really know how to prepare a BA ford.....

Now I'll just wait till FPV get some experience and start to join in on the fun...... FORD domination I say

The points so far from v8supercar.com

1 Jason Bright 1195
2 Marcos Ambrose 1159
3 Greg Murphy 1101
4 Russell Ingall 1013
5 Paul Weel 1007
6 Steven Richards 992
7 Mark Skaife 965
8 Craig Lowndes 908
9 Rick Kelly 898
10 Paul Radisich 836

I wouldnt have a clue what it looks like after the drop round issue

Paul Radisich has done alright considering his performance at DJR

Dammit, looks like I'm in a no-Holden zone... Can't a lil Holden fan just express his feelings? Please? Please? Don't be mean! :grumpy:

Though if a Ford driver had to win, I'd either go Marcos or Lowndesy, so GO those two! :P

welcome to the dark side Jon

you are certainly not in a no Holden zone at all, I just think that ATM youre out numbered

on a quick sidetrack for a moment, I have got on layby (and soon to pick up) a R32 Skyline GTR(1:18) as driven by Jim (ya nothin but a pack of ar$holes) Richards and Mark Skaife, 1992 i think, is the red, white and blue car

Ahh, the beautiful Japanese-Crap Zilla. Go a 2003 VY Commie. You might blow an engine.

You're nothing but a pack of arseholes.

I wasn't referring to you, I was refferring to the people who designed the new points system! :P

Wait maybe that's good, or Skaife'd be lower still... :scared:

Yeah go ahead and buy a Commie, blown engine guaranteed! :P

Can anyone provide a link or explain this points system cos Im not sure of it. All Ive heard from almost everyone that its a crock of ****.
So that must be why Ambrose just pulls away from the Holdens (no smart arse comments please;) ) in the previous rounds making the race rather boring?

Anyway, did anyone see the Qland Brute utes?
I saw them yesterday:eek: Such an awesome, entertaining series, Im glad I taped it. Those guys arent hanging back witing for the opportunity to pass, the just dive right into the corners whether someones there or not:mischievous:

Points system? I think it goes from highest possible points then drops by 6 points for every position further down the order, ie 1st 180, 2nd 174, 3rd 168, etc.

And the V8 BrUtes is one helluva awesome series, they go for broke! :D

True that. If you're consistently in the top 5 this year you will win the championship, mark me.

The new system SUCKS.

Yeah the brutes are pretty mad. But how about that historic racing with those XY falcons and the the like (even a good ol datto 1600 in there)...

70's suspension technology + 500 pushrod horsepower = sideways city! Has any of you blokes seen it....All you see is opposite lock (the way it should be).

They should televise more of that. The cars are at Oran park this weekend. I wonder how ford will go this time. Pity ambrose couldnt make it 5 in a row though in Queensland...

Should be a good race to watch coz I love the track ;)

has anyone seen those mini aussie racing cars, minature falcons and old holdens and falcons. theyre are the coolest things evr, i saw them out at willowbank and they flew along

Yeah - caught 'em on Speedweek, they're fantastic. Where's the chassis from?

I was at Oran Park for the V8 meeting today - they put on a good show.

Ambrose won pretty easily - SBR have got those Falcons working pretty well. Ingall was a bit unlucky but fought back to 8th. Lowndes drove a pretty smart race.

Yeah SBR seem to be doing a good job this year (not that last year was bad)
But that is just bull**** what had happened to Kmart and their new car

Ok this is my theory on the season so far. The reason why I reckon holden (namely HRT and Garry rodges motorsport and Team Brock) aren’t doing so well is the reduction in major $ that they were getting. Notice that all the teams that had a link to the recent holden backing controversy, once it was banned, the teams have struggled after (yes I know they couldn’t do any testing but surely the less $ they have thanks to holden being out of the picture has had an impact)....

That and many of the Holden teams haven’t gotten on top of the double wishbone front suspension change (project blueprint). I reckon next season will be the best season yet (for good racing) when the holden teams have some substantial amount of data for the new front end etc.

Ambrose will take this seasons championship out I reckon. Really looking forward to the enduro's coming up though :D

Ingall's race was pretty bloody impressive considering that he had to pit of like the 5th lap thanks to a flat tyre :banghead:
SBR have got their setups down to perfection and deserve all thats coming their way.

im not sure, they are privately made i think by some guy in nsw but im not 100% sure soon though they are making a vy commodore chassis

Way to go "Devil racer" at Oran Park and a great second place to Craig

When are the Commodore guys gonna start complaining about "P A R I T Y" now that the blue oval seems to be winning every thing?

Which is a bit of a shame really. When the holden boys were dominating for the last couple of years we just copped it and put it down to holden having more power or what ever. Now that Ford have started to win (not dominate. Its just SBR that are doing well.) its like, Oh no...ford are too good, cap them with aero dynamics restirctions etc...

If you take a look at the race results for the last couple of rounds you'll find its pretty even. Its just that SBR are at the pointy end now. Before, it wasnt just that HRT were winning but very often, they would be followed up by Garry Rodges Motorsport etc etc.. so it was obviously a parity issue but now I reckon its just a SBR issue (which is a good thing for us SBR supporters ;) )
But I reckon next season FPR will be strong too.

Im just waiting for all the HRT/Commodore fans to start writing into AA (Auto Action) complaing/having a great big sook about it

So who is it gonna be for sandown this weekend?

My money is gonna be on the Ambrose/Ingall combo with Skaife/Kelly second and Lowndes/Seton 3rd
anyone else?

I'd like to see Seton/Lowndes get on top of things. They both have had a bit of crap throw their way in the past - Seton especially. About time for a reversal of luck, i reckon :)

How about the shock announcement that The island will not be hosting a v8 round next season. There were plrenty of rumos doing the rounds but I thought they were just rumors.

It was my favourite track (behind the mountain of course) and its a crying shame. I wonder why they decided to scrap the round?
People say its the dangerous nature of the track as well as next seasons commitment to a round in china. The round in china will be awesome but couldnt they have just extended the season to 14 rounds :(

Oh well....what are your thoughts?
