He's the biggest asshole in the league, and doesn't deserve to play with all the poor sportsmanship he displays.

He's also the best receiver in the league, arguably. He's an idiot a lot of the time, but he's also in the upper echelon of players in the NFL when it comes to talent. It kind of sucks that he did this now though, because I got a big game in Fantasy football this week, and I always rely on him for big points, so now I'll lose. :dopey:

You don't have to respect him as a person, but as a football player, why not. The guy is clearly a jerk, but oh well.

As for my fantasy game, someone somehow got into my league, and has been screwing around with everyone's teams, so now that league is wasted. The guy even changed my NFL account password. :odd: He made an 8 player trade between me and another team, and since he's controlling both teams he approved so I can't withdraw. :rolleyes: Pretty friggin' annoying. I liked that league too.
 
I don't like or respect TO as a football player either. He has no sportsmanlike conduct when playing, even if he is "good".

Anyone who catches a football and holds the ball out to a chasing defender doesn't deserve respect. I'm suprised Andy Reid didn't bench his ass on that first play of the season.
 
Well the rumors are already starting. Apparently some of the Eagles players are telling reporters "privately" that they can't take playing with him anymore. So the big rumor already is that Philadelphia will bench him for the rest of the season and then trade him in the off-season. Only rumors of course, but who knows what'll happen.
 
Well the title says indefinetly but the coach could put him back in (if he wants to) right? It's only as long as the coach wants it to be?
 
The only way I’d offer Terrel a contract, were I an NFL organization would be if it were loaded with a bunch of restrictions and conditions such as:

1. Not to be renegotiated until present contract is up.

2. Communicating team business to the press is grounds for dismissal without pay.

3. If you miss more then 5 games in a season your annual earnings are cut in half.

4. Contract must be an ascending contract meaning the annual salary gets larger as seasons pass.

5. Disruptions/failure to participate/attend team events is grounds for dismissal without pay.

6. Causing a disturbance with team mates in grounds for dismissal without pay.

He'd never go for it, but those are the terms I'd offer him. I'm usualy on the side of players rights, but this person is the one acception I'd make to this rule. He does not deserve to have the protection normal contracts would afford him. And he doesn't like it, he can simply go home for all I care.
 
Refer to the other thread about Owens for my opinion. The fact is that he's a complete ****ing asshole, I'm glad he got suspended. He's not even the best receiver in the league anymore for cryin' out loud. I'd much rather have Hines Ward, Steve Smith, Marvin Harrison, or even Randy Moss on my team than him. Moss is a jerk too at times, but he has never been as selfish as Owens, and he is a MUCH more talented athlete.
 
I can't stand him. He's good, But Tony Gonzalez is better. I'll wait for the groans to roll in...
 
Someone tell me, why you would try to get suspended if you're already making lots of money? :crazy: Some of the things he says and does just make him a complete idiot, even if he is good. Did any of you hear that if Farve were the starting QB they would be undefeated?

That somes up my opinion on him perfectly. He deserved this suspension earlier.
 
You can't compare TO to Tony Gonza'. They're two seperate positions.

Terrel Owens isn't worth a damn, though. The only reason he was "One of the best" is because he was San Francisco's only hope when he played for them. All the WR's Max mentioned are better than him, with the addition of Keyshawn Johnson as well. The Eagles played much better without him. All of their recievers are equal to him, minus the mouth and the attitude.

Hugh Douglas is fresh; he's a cool guy. If you manage to beef with him, I'd say its about time for you to go.

Screw Terrell Owens. That ol' raquetball headed fool.
 
First of all, he's still going to laugh all the way to the bank, even with the suspension.

Secondly, he's one of those people that may not have gotten good "home training" coming up. If you take a boy from the hood and offer him the world in college because he's got some talent, then offer the inner eighth of the universe upon him turning pro...What do you expect.

Not many folks can go from nothing to everything, and maintain their good sense.

Not that I know TO's history.
I'm just saying not every one can be a Derrick Thomas, or a Gretsky, or Tiger Woods.
All of whom, made it big, but never really forgot where they came from, or the circumstances that they came from.

With the money he's gonna make the rest of this season, and if his endorsements don't fall thru, he'll still have many millions of dollars to bank or blow.
 
I can't understand how everyone here says Owens is not one of the best receivers in the league. Hines Ward? Please. Terrell Owens, Randy Moss and probably Steve Smith - in that order - are the best receivers in the league right now. I don't care how much you hate a guy, you can't just say he sucks as a player when he clearly does not.

Am I the only one who will defend him as an athlete?
 
Maybe I'm being a bit of a Homer, but I think Hines Ward is much more valuable to a team than Owens ever will be. Watch the next Pittsburgh game, and see when they run the ball to the outside. You'll most likely see a CB being levelled by one of Hines Ward's crushing blocks. When's the last time TO ever threw a block, oh, that's right, he doesn't. And unlike Owens, Ward plays through pain and injuries and is a complete class act to everybody on his team. Ward is on a team that doesn't throw the ball much, but he throws the nastiest blocks, and will always be open for a first down catch. At the same time, he still puts up good numbers and is a pro bowl receiver. I'm tired of only the "big play" receivers being recognized, they're always the players who are the biggest burden on their teams. How come every time you hear someone mouthing off it's a Wide Receiver, they think they're the most valuable players on their teams when they usually aren't. When's the last time you heard a QB complaining about his receivers, or a RB complaining about his offensive line; they don't.

I never denied that Owens has talent, but I still say that every receiver that I mentioned, along with Chad Johnson are better than him. TO can't stay healthy anymore (whether or not he fakes his injuries) and he's getting up there in age, he's past his prime already.

Yeah, I read that line and the first thing that went through my head was the nerve he had to order a pizza in an area that hates him so much.

I wonder if Owens ordered phelgm on that pizza, cause it's certainly going to be there.
 
WTF... They suspend him WITHOUT pay for 3 days and then don't let him play for the rest of the season but he still gets a paycheck. That makes a lot of sense... :rolleyes:
 
Pay more attention bud, he's suspended w/o pay for 4 games...that's the maximum amount of time under the collective bargaining agreement that a player can be suspended for doing what Owens did. So basically the Eagles will get in a lot of trouble if they don't pay him when he's not playing the rest of the year. Stupid, I agree, but that's how it is, he is under contract you know.
 
i will defend TO's athletic ability. he is arguably the best WR in the league, but because of that, he has got the biggest ego in the leage and i will not defend TO as a person or a respectable athlete. He deserves every punishment he has gotten so far and deserves more. He insulted his quarterback, Donovan Mcnabb, who is one of the most respected people in the leage. He is an a**hole to his teammates, and his fans. in my opinion he is an embarrasment to the NFL.

BTW hines ward is more valuble to a team. TO would be the most valuble receiver if he wasnt like he is. Look at all the trouble he has caused. That lowers his worth significantly. Teams the offseason are going to say "we could pick up TO, but he is not worth the trouble"
 
I wish this many people came here to discuss football in general, not just some douche bag like Owens.
