They don't really flow in the same vein as PC games, though. Console games are going to be held back by the lowest common denominator - Consoles are potentially squandered by their cross-gen(or even cross console) counterparts when expecting big "next gen" changes. PC games aren't held back by less powerful PC's, as the user just has to dumb down their experience visually if they want to be able to play the game. Unless it was a game that was ported from consoles, that is as that would mean it'll flow like a cross-generational game.It could go on for years and it wouldn't faze me; not because I have a gaming PC now, but because Playstations and Xboxes are closed-box gaming PCs now. It does not surprise me at all that developers are treating them like PCs, especially given the PS4's install base.
So really, it affects the console generation as a whole, just a bit indirectly.
