Just wanted to say that it is possible to eventually get a race seat by clearing less than half the challenges. I tried to get into immediate race seat through Magny-Cours initial tests but was not fast enough. So I went the "normal" testdriving way. I feel some testdriving tests border to the near impossible at hard level and I had to redo many times most of the tests that I eventually cleared and some tests like Melbourne fuel test and all Catalunya tests I just consider impossible for me to clear without spending horrific and unjustified amount of time to pass. I created this thread in case some other poor soul out there is struggling in frustration with the hard level testdrivning and to tell that there is hope. When I summed up my performance on round two I thought it was goodnight for me even though I spent much time at this. But I was awarded second driver in the end! :)

I was sooo relieved and happy about this it's crazy really! I wanted to play career mode on hard for so long and I've won hard level world championship races so I know I can compete but I just found test-driving extremely demanding :banghead:. I was sooo happy getting on track for free practice on Malaysia waving at the audience like I've already won the race just for the chance to prove myself! :dopey: ha ha ha :)

So, don't lose faith. Stick around and you'll get there. Yes, most of the first season is now gone but there are four more so that's ok.

I'm no expert by any stretch but I thought it had more to do with the type of tests passed and not the total number. It took me a while to figure out, but I think there are goals for personal tests and team test before you'll get the promotion. For me it didn't matter how many team tests I passed, I need to pass "x" number of personal ones as well.

It is true that it states on your contract what your goal is. That goal is just to keep you as a testdriver and I think it is to win 1 personal test. That's it.

Thanks Alltidxx! Interesting information - will give us all hope! It's a bit odd that the test driving is harder than the actual racing...

That wasn't the case for me. My goals were 2 personal tests and 3 team tests. I had several team test and only 1 personal passed and it wasn't until I passed a second one that I got a promotion.

Either way, I agree that being a test drive is probably the hardest thing in this game (and frustrating.)
