Okay... Well that was unexpected. Or maybe it wasn't.

SO, the Supra....seemed to have a thermostat failure within the first week of having it. But I didn't know that.

And so after I hated not having heat in November, someone traded me an Acura TL for it.
20131222_142839_zps34c0626f.jpg

Not that bad of a car. Had a little bit of a hard shifting issue, but other than that, it was ok.

THEN someone at work needed a car, and I was all like, you want one? Then here ya go!

Well at that point I had borrowed the Buick Rendezvous yall may have seen in the background of a few photos.
But I was looking for something that was quick and AWD. And I finally decided to just get a loan.

For this:

And then I noticed that I needed a third brake light....and if put a temp fix.
20140119_182620_zps2a4c2dc7.jpg

Its pretty tasty, and I just hope it lasts the 4 year loan...I mean it should, I guess it had a new engine in it and the person sent me pictures and the odo had 1100 on the trip meter, so they are either telling the truth or a very elaborate lie. Lets hope option A.

As much as I love the Subaru, I'm kinda sad you sold the supra ={.
Me too, and apparently the guy says that it was the thermostat. :/ Oh well, we might get some good pics in the summer when the 7 comes out to play.

Speaking of the 7, I plan to get an Adaptronic unit and get a nice tune on it. I plan to run 12~14 psi, should be good for 250~275 hp 👍

And the way I'm doing that is by selling the rims off the Sti and possibly getting some 08 stock ones or 18" Enkei J10s. :)

Oh and you know how was talking about how I seem to have the "best" luck? Well I do and some way or another My car skipped 2-8 teeth on the cam.....

But the shop I took it to put in a new water pump and reset the timing belt and its all good now. :) (just wasn't expecting another 1k bill right away)

Well thanks for dropping by!

I hope your friend with the 'Vette isn't still considering autocrossing that Supra. The 7M engines are bad about oil starvation, and autocross is known to cause it. WRX is a much better car for what you were looking for it seems.

What? Him? No I'm sure I just typed a confusing statement. I was saying that if my dad actually goes through autocrossing his 2014 'stang then he would auto x the 'vette/  The Supra has been gone since the end of Jan. :P
But yes I do believe it was exactly what I was looking for. 4 dr,manual, turbo. :)

Welcome to the scooby family! Car looks nice but I have always been weary of buying modded, and that STI looks like it has a few heavy mods. Good luck to you and your ventures!

Btw how are your Hellas mounted? I want mine further apart like yours. I'm guessing it's the square holes along that top bar but just wondering if they are mounted a different way.

You mean welcome back. ;) And thanks! Also you should definitely be weary of buying modded. Thats why I bought my R1 stock so I know what would be done to it. But YET AGAIN I managed to put myself in the situation where I couldn't wait for "the one". :/ Thanks for the wishes. :D

I have no idea how they are mounted though, here is a picture, perhaps it will help.
20140119_125048_zps88af6c20.jpg

Yup that picture confirmed my thoughts of where they were mounted looks like I know what Im gonna do tomorrow.

I know what you mean by the "couldnt wait" I was so tempted to jump on a built WRX wagon in the beginning but pulled myself away. Im happy I did so now I can build it the way I want and I know what has been done exactly. Scooby's are tough cars though so most problems can be worked out with the right skill and patience. My bad didnt realize you owned one before, so indeed welcome back to the right side dare I say haha.

Mine are to close together

"the right side" My Rx7 is the left side then. ;)

Yeah, your lights would look better further apart. Glad i could help. :)

In other news, we got snow....
20140220_172623_zpsf97a1eb6.jpg

My car was a plow.

I will get a carbon fiber one to match my hood scoop eventually. XD Though I didn't even really like the splitter TBH.

Also, my friend may get a new truck since this one with 262k on it is about to go, it seems.

Congrats on the 05 STI purchase!! That's my favorite year and you even have the 6 speed. Very nice. You really cant get a better car for the winter than an AWD car. Especially an Impreza. I own a 05 RS and a 04 WRX. These cars are just incredible in the winter. Especially with proper winter tires. I have easily pushed well over a foot of snow with my cars. This year has been really brutal and the car just keeps going.

I would recommend checking the cabin air filter right away. I decided to check mine in the WRX and I seriously could not believe how nasty it was. Solid black. The previous owners clearly were using it as a rally car or lived on a dirt road. It only takes a couple minutes to replace and its very cheap. Also check the transmission fluid for sure too since it is the same exact shared fluid that goes into the transfer case. If you see any metal flakes, flush and replace with synthetic.

Yeah maintenance items are next on the list for sure, and thanks for the comment. Since we had a corvette here I got the Nippon equivalent. :)

Nice STI, I really like it in black. I really wanted a black one meself.

Isnt the thing just a friggin blast in the snow? Love it.

Yes and no, when its not needing to clear a path with tires that BARELY get the all season mark....yes.

Mine is the same way, the all seasons are over a year old on top of that. I try not to drive in bad snow but when I do I'm sliding around every corner. And it's fun. Scary, but fun.

Well I'm definitely going to look for some skinny 17s to slap some winter tire on it. Then a coolant heater and maybe a oil heater too. This modded engine hates these 5 degrees starts...

Well just a general mini update.

I had to fix my ABS and Brake light.

And started doing some stuff on the Rx7:
20140330_160942_zps5591745b.jpg

Like replacing that handy-dandy bracket for my intercooler.
Btw Flamves vette is low enough we think.
20140330_145333_zps800c3fd4.jpg

And finally, some regular rims!

And the future? DYNO, pretty much set may 12th, switching to an Adaptronic unit. Should be good.

Looks soooo much nicer with the OEMs, those XXRs sticking out always look cheap IMO, hate it when people get that fitment on subys and make them useless. Can't beat gold on black

You have been busy and its nice to see some updates again. Glad I was able to help with that cabin filter. Your cabin air filter was even worse than mine! Just crazy how dirty those things get and most people NEVER replace them. Clearly the previous owners never replaced them at all.

So overall how are you enjoying your 05 STI? Still one of my top favorite years. Your headlights can be polished VERY easily with this product. I polish my WRX headlights with it all the time. It can also be used on gauge clusters, the clear coat, tail lights and anything else you want to polish. You could have those headlights cleaned up with just a rag, your hand, and a few drops of with this product in about 5-10 minutes.

PS. When you tag forum members, don't forget to put the @ in front of their name. ;)

Subaru looks MUCH better with the new wheels. The other ones, design wise were ok, but the fitment was horrible.

Obviously, couldn't agree more. 👍

No they do not change them. How it picked up that much is beyond me....

And yeah I really like it, I still need to take care of my rear driver strut, but other than that. Well then another tune on it. Kinda doesnt like the cold. Which is why I still want a stock one. I figure, I have a modified Rx7 and my R1 is pure speed, it would be nice to have the mild mannered four door with a kickin 6 speed.

I also got some turtle wax headlight restorer that helped a lot, the drivers side is pretty shot though, whoever tried before had no idea. However it was right after that pic that I cleaned them...Well actually I have pictures of a car meet that I can share next... Yay.

p.s. I did not know that.

I used that product and was totally underwhelmed. Cut and polish is the way to go IMO

Digging the harbor freight "racing" jack.
Actually its pretty legit, 2 piston design for 3.5 tons, but steel. And it only takes maybe 2 pumps. So thanks! 👍
What tires have you got on the Subaru? They always looks like semi slicks from the shape of the sidewall.
Some Michelins, which is funny because they are a 50 series tire instead of the stock 225/45R17.
I like the extra height, like its rally ready.

Oh this was from boost for boobies awhile back:

I wasn't knocking it. I have one of the new "racing" jacks from HF as well and it has been great.
