The one on the left looks like he is taunting you. "Yeah she mine, what you doing to do about it?? ...Come at me bro!!"

.....sorry couldn't help it

The last shot isn't to be confused with rice fields. That is terraced thermal pools, naturally formed by silica build-up over thousands of years. They only exist like that in a few places worldwide. And yeah you can swim in some of them.

I've been to a place in NZ where those sort of pools had existed . . . then were blown to pieces by a massive volcanic explosion in the 1870s or 1880s. The pools had been the most impressive on earth, pink and white colours.

Near the site is a museum with items recovered that have been found recently. Now these things have a hard white silica layer on them too. I think I have pictures . . . will look for that. -EDIT- found!!

I dont think anyone confused them! They are 2 distinct photos!

I was just using that phrase as a way of highlighting pic 2. As I then wanted to do a short write up explaining how Thermal pool terrace are an impressive and very rare naturally formed phenomenon.

That's all.

9 posts deleted. Lets try and keep it to what it says in the title. Amzing and cool photos. Not stills from films, not photoshops, but photographs.

Do we really have to be pedantic?

I'd rather have this be the amazing and cool picture/photo/photoshop/film-capture/painting thread than limiting this thread to photos only. Possibly even creating the need to start a new thread for the images that are needlessly banished from this one.

This thread is for photos, as it has been since it's conception. Outlandish photoshops are not amazing because they are fake. Outlandish photos are amazing because they're real.

The thread title is pecific. If anybody is being pedantic it's you, obviously very distraught at the definition of "photo".

How am I being pedantic? I'm asking for some leeway to the interpretation of the word "photo", that's the very opposite of pedantic. Hell, if we are being pedantic then I should point out that nearly every photo in this thread is not a raw photo from a camera but a "photoshoped" version of the real thing. Not that that's bad, mind you.

Anyway, I disagree that photoshops (in the usual sense) or any other kind of fabricated images cannot be amazing and cool. The only image I posted in this thread is not real, but the very fact it's not real is what makes it amazing and cool to me. I highly doubt I'm the only one who feels this way.

My point is, is it really necessary to force people to create a new thread about pretty much the same thing when we could just use this one?

I suppose it's your prerogative to find out.

The space shuttle Endeavour docks with the International Space Station, with the Italian mainland below

Two sulfurous eruptions are visible on Jupiter's volcanic moon Io in this color composite image from the robotic Galileo spacecraft that orbited Jupiter from 1995 to 2003. At the image top, over Io's limb, a bluish plume rises about 140 kilometers above the surface of a volcanic caldera known as Pillan Patera. In the image middle, near the night/day shadow line, the ring shaped Prometheus plume is seen rising about 75 kilometers above Io while casting a shadow below the volcanic vent.

There is a space shuttle picture that was taken with a phone from a passenger in a commercial flight. The clouds were notoriously low that day which makes for a great picture

I saw those space shuttle images in the news paper a few days go 👍

By the way, that winter shot of Yosemite National Park is pretty cool:

All of these photos were taken around the valley where my home town is located. This is where I spent most of my time during the summer. I used to hike a lot as you can probably tell. :)
