And now for some nice buildings.

EDIT : Argh why aren't they showing!

Are they off your computer or the internet?

There's not much amazing in these pictures - especially in the second one - and even the architecture looks dull. The second building is an example in ambitious megalomaniac projects - it's not pretty, and on a sunny day, becomes a nightmare for all around it.

The first one is Falling Water, an iconic building in America by one of, if not the most famous American architects Frank Lloyd Wright. It's cantilevered over a stream and waterfall and built directly into the surrounding rock. There are sections of the house where the rock sticks out of the floor. It's difficult to see the details that make it special in a photo, it's something you have to experience in person.

Falling Water is one of the most famous pieces of modern architecture. It defines FLW's style and plays a significant role in American architecture in General. Definitely not one you would insult.

I reserve the right to insult art.

Having googled it, it does sound like a rather interesting building, and definitely not as boring as I thought it was - because that picture, apart from the small size, also doesn't really show the building that well. As for the architectural design criticism, it was mainly aimed at the rather hideous second one.

More of Falling Water. Must be the nicest place to live in the world.

Yeah I'm gonna stop with the Buildings now.

I love great architecture, so I'll gladly take your lead.

That second pic reminds me of this one in Chicago, the photo is one I took when I was over there. Can't remember what purpose the building serves.

And why not add another pic I've taken, this one slightly closer to home. The Quayside in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Gateshead.

The brick building left of centre is The Baltic - once a flour mill, now a contemporary art gallery. Behind that you can just see the curved glass front of the Sage, a performing arts centre. The bridge nearest the foreground is the Gateshead Millenium Bridge, which tilts on it's axis to let taller boats pass underneath. Behind that is the Tyne Bridge. Newcastle is on the right (to the North) and Gateshead is to the South, left of frame.

Here's a high contrast picture of The Sage, which I took recently (with a little snow on the roof):

The background on the bird shot... it's a painting, right? A painted wall?

But the bird itself looks awesome. 👍

"Unknown bird"

With feathers like that, those colours, and wings and a tail that shape I'd suggest it's some kind of parrot. I'm no ornithologist but that's my conclusion!

Three Scarlet Macaw pics I took in zoos in the States:

All from my Deviantart page. Macaws are definitely worthy of being in the cool pictures thread :D

Thanks for bringing those up. I tried finding them for hfs but couldn't locate them. I really should use tags or something at the bottom of my posts, I can never find anything I put up :P

No problem. Did you check out some of the films from that Project? They are worth a look.

For anyone interested I've got the link --> http://www.showstudio.com/project/perroquet.
Bottom right video is my favourite.

Awesome parrots - here's an awesome reptile for you:

Holy crap it's a real version of Uroboros! I was just reading about it the other day as it's the title of the newest Dir en Grey cd. Also knows as Jörmungandr to the Norse, it appears on the cover of the new Amon Amarth cd.

I love this picture. It's the RMS Olympic and RMS Mauretania waiting to make their final voyage to the breakers yard.
