Some pics of wasps :ill: Even looking at these pictures makes me wince, although they are strangely beautiful creatures (even if I am totally scared of them!)

Google "cicada killer" or "locust wasp" if you want something to be afraid of...

I wouldn't worry about those wasps, they look a bit dead ;) Especially the one with the spike through it's head in the second pic.

Great photos though. I subscribed to a photographer on DeviantArt who took photos of insects, until my "watched deviations" was being completely filled by close-ups of ants and dragonflies and the like and it began to get a bit creepy.

But what the hell, here are a couple anyway (the images link to the photographers' home pages):

Wolf Spider ?..
the little money spiders are the best, or penny spiders I don't know what yous call them, you know , the tiny tiny ones ?

Giant House Spider. Or Tegenaria Gigantea if you want to be really posh!

We call them Money Spiders here as well, but half the time I don't notice them cause they're so small!

My house back home (as opposed to at uni) often gets Wolf Spiders crawling around. I read somewhere that they're one of the quickest running spiders yet discovered, which I can vouch for because they're a bugger to try and capture!

How about some wolf spider eyes?

Looks like a mutated muppet or something

Oh, and apologies to any arachnophobes reading this thread...

I think it's just wet, eroded brick... or something like that. Can't reallt tell whether it's marble or not.

as opposed to brick, which is transparent

What's reflecting is water, so the bottom of it could be anything.

This is a screenshot from a really funky Interactive Infographic that the New York Times produced. Click on the picture to go the actual site, it's pretty fascinating stuff!

I clicked on the site and learned that 1% of unemployed people are working.

Wouldn't that make them employed?
