I don't think the ecology would be that vastly different as the shadows would move north and south throughout the year. So, everyone would have the same summers we do now, as far as direct solar contact is concerned, but the winters would have moving shadows. So, the primary growth period for the local ecology wouldn't be affected nearly as much as the cold seasons would.Not just warmer weather for humans, but think about how radically different the ecology would be. You could travel a few hours and the entire natural world would be completely different.
