...I caught it earlier today. Not only the episode reminded me of how much I didn't like EB110 back when it was new, it also served to remind me that I still think it's one of the ugliest thing ever made in the history of motoring.

But still, kind of bizarre to see Clarkson not ripping the Bugatti's questionable Italian 90s build quality to shreds. It was as if he wasn't given enough time to drive around in it. And then, no footage of XJ220 doing the Eboladrome? What was that all about?

I think they're done humorously pointing out all the flaws in our classics and now it's about legacy. Not theirs, cars in general.

...Not sure if they would ever stop doing that, if I'm honest. After all, mocking people/stuff/each other is kind of bread-and-butter for these three guys.

The Jag & Bugatti item was very welcome. Too bad the track was so wet when they posted times though, it's not much of a level playing field to say the least, though I might be kidding myself that they would perform much better otherwise. I hope Clarkson was including the oft-overlooked Noble M600 when he said only 3 current cars can go faster than 217 :)

Edit: I guess not, though the LaFerrari, P1 and 918 all supposedly reach 217, then you have the Chiron, Huayra, Regera and (arguably) the Venom. Hmmm.

Also the Aston Martin One-77, SSC Ultimate Aero, Saleen S7, Dauer 962, Koenigsegg CCR, Mclaren F1.... scrap them!

Just realized he said "current" so which cars are they then? The 918 and P1 don't even count for example as stopped production a few years ago on that pair.

Chiron is one but what are the other two?
EDIT: Rimac as the second?

Depends on when it was filmed I presume, but I can't imagine it would have been completed after Koenigsegg did their top speed run.

Otherwise the fastest car of 2017 other than the Chiron is the Aventador S, which is capable of 217mph. The AM Valkyrie is reportedly capable of 250mph but of course that hasn't been verified.
EDIT: Rimac as the second?
The Rimac is not current production, that was released in 2013

Loved the XJ220 and EB110 segments as I had both diecast model when I was a kid. What a blast to see them on tv again. And it was nicely put I think.

Between the Lancia 037, the Aston, Jaguar and the XJ220 and EB110 c, we had pretty high quality video

Didnt watched yesterday episode yet.

I wish they did more with the Stelvio. I would have love to hear what they actually thought of it instead of just doing circles in a dirt field.

The horse bit was cool and got me thinking.

Has anyone ever raced something against a single horse but in a truly even match? A horse has.... one horsepower. But how much does it weigh? Now find an old car or something with ~10HP and weighs as much as a horse. I doubt there's a car with 1HP but an old ~10HP engine over time probably has diminished to around 1HP anyway so that's close enough. One race on dirt (horse has traction advantage) and another on paved road (for the car's advantage) and average the two times?

Celebrity Face Off is great but why don't they have all of the times up to compare with previous celebrities?

...Just watched the latest episode. I chuckled a few times, but I gotta be honest, I was really puzzled by this week's pairing. Paris Hilton and Rory McIlroy? Eh? The only tenuous connection they have is, one's a champion golfer and the other has parents who own a bunch of golf courses? Huh.

She said she's a golfer but I have no joke ready... Did seem weird seeing her, I can't remember the last time she was on TV

...Just watched this week's episode. This one's the last one of the season, huh. Laughed my butt off at the very wet and miserable James May, but I gotta say, that ending sure felt abrupt and all. Feels like... something's missing, a segment or some part of the footage or something. How bizarre.

I agree and 11 episodes doesn't make sense either.

I think it was mocking what Jeremy had said at the beginning about Hollywood stars just showing up somewhere and taking some photographs and then leaving.

Where was the episode about how they chose their new test driver? I know Mark Webber was one of the "applicants".
They didn't reveal exactly how they chose it. They just said there had a new racing driver. They didn't even mention her name until the credits rolled.

...Probably them trying to not clash with the TG Season 24? Or is it 25? Can't remember. It's starting on 25th of this month, so... Or, I guess not. I dunno....

I'm pretty sure they said it was a 12 week show at the start when they showed a montage of what was to come, if so then the 12th episode wont clash with new series of TG starting as that's on a Sunday.

Enjoyed the episode on the whole, funniest part was May first getting soaked in his Mercedes.

The final episode was entertaining, but I can’t help to think about what a culturally insensitive way to end the season..

The cultural insensitivity was a big part of what I found entertaining. Excellent special, some real laugh out loud moments too.

Edit:

The message there is mostly that to the "west", one might wonder why on Earth people have little access to food only 200 miles away from an area with lots of food. And this highlights one of the hurdles in Africa - infrastructure.

Also, these guys love to end with the joke on them. They talk about nobel prizes and the good that they're doing for the people and end up failing miserably. What they managed to accomplish was not of any interest to the people in the village. That's part of the fun.

It started out interesting, but the gags ended up getting monotonous. Also seems painfully short both distance and time wise compared to the other specials. I remember their previous Africa special where they showed the trio staying in crap (literally) hotels and had to turn their cars into mobile homes - they just glossed over all that in this.

Anyway, S2 is a clear improvement over S1. Let's hope this trend continues. In the meantime, TG is back this weekend. What a good timing :D

Personnaly I found myself beeing quite uncomfortable at the end seeing so many fish wasted when it could have been put in good use if they had put a bit of effort into it instead of being idiots like always. I mean it's not funny, people in Africa are really starving and they dont have the money like us to get a car and do those miles to get there food. So I found the whole episode quite bad ethic wise tbh. I was never bothered by what TG was doing but this is going a bit too far for me imo even if it had some enjoyable moment, the end where they wasted all the food kinda spoiled it for me. I was hoping they would still deliver fish maybe from a freezer from their Range Rover or something.

Maybe they did and its just not on camera?
