That is indeed wrong, your country has to have amazon prime video, which a grand total of what seems like 3 of them have. I emailed them about it and got a royally long winded sorry explanation that basically said you have to live in one of the priveleged few countries.

James May and Richard Hammond appeared on the BBC's nightly primetime show called 'The One Show' last night, and it was as awkward as hell. May was especially grumpy and abrupt, and neither appeared to have much of a sense of humour - the presenters seemed a bit unprepared and instead of making light of the situation just seemed to make things worse by refusing to name Jeremy Clarkson or Top Gear, preferring to make garbled comments about 'he who shall not be named' and 'that other show'. It was really painful to watch, but I wish I had recorded it as there seems to be alot of discussion about it online today. They did show an 'exclusive' trailer for the show which showed Clarkson, Hammond and May in what looked like a combat zone and storming a building with smoke bombs - even from that short clip it looked like the same old same old from TG, scripted and contrived and precious little to do with interesting new cars... anyway, it remains to be seen what The Grand Tour will be like - here's hoping it is not as bad as it looked from that clip!

If this ends up well-enough, I may be jumping ship from Netflix and their recent price jump.

Will probably binge-watch the latest TG they have prior to that, however. :D

I think you should expect exactly that to be honest, doubt they'd change the formula at all.

I can't share any content, but we were shown a film or two at the Whitby show and... yep, it's the three of them cocking around expensively and occasionally there's an incredibly expensive car. The three characters of Powerape, Stupid yob and Curmudgeon are preserved.

Don't expect a huge format departure.

Well I just looked-up prices for Prime..., suddenly Netflix's price-bump doesn't seem so harsh.

I think I'll wait a bit. Would rather put money towards the next Porsche-pack.

Netflix is $9.99/month ($119.88/year).

Prime is $99/year or $10.99/month. Half that if you're a college student.

Two hundred per year and unlimited streaming is why I have both.

As for The Grand Tour, I've only seen one trailer for it and, yes, it's regular old Top Gear, just with a different backdrop. I can't wait. :D

That's the thing of it though, Netflix I watch day-in day-out, multiple times a day, easily filling a years-worth with multiple series/shows and movies.

TGT on the other hand, can't possibly have enough content to match that being just one show, let alone spread across the span of a full year.

There's bound to be a gap where I'm paying for Prime that I have no other interest for, and I'm just not interested in that. (I already went on a tangent about this in a private-convo, it just doesn't have common-sense in it for my interests.)

Not that we can talk about it here but I imagine New New Top Gear The Grand Tour will end up being one of the most pirated shows, even more-so than things like GoT because at least that is on TV in some form.

Anyway Prime is obviously not meant to be just about the video, whether you value it as a service will likely come down to whether you order a lot of stuff from them for delivery, or any of the other perks.

You should probably be using Amazon Prime anyway. I order a ton of stuff on there, even groceries sometimes. You can't beat two-day shipping for clothes and shoes and whatnot.

1 Day to go

I think it should air in about 7 hours IIRC.

Yep, doubt people would wait till December. I'm interested in which local channel will pick it up here, the channel that used to pick up Top Gear didn't bother with new Top Gear so will see what they do with the Grand Tour.

I read somewhere that this show will be in 4K, HDR so heads up for those with a decent TV.

Being a pilot presents problems occasionally. My current problem is that I know three clocks. It's a problem because anytime anybody tells me a time, I have to clarify with them which clock they're using so I actually know what time they're talking about. Getting together at 7? Is that 7 am or pm? Pm, so 1900? It might rain though, the forecast says rain at 24Z. Yeah, 24Z. You know, 7pm, when your party is.

The Grand Tour debuts at 1201 am GMT. Does that mean it debuts at 701 pm EST? If we assume they're releasing it simultaneously, yes. But what if they're releasing it at 1201 am in all time zones? They didn't say they were releasing it at 1201 UTC, they said GMT. Those are different. If they'd have said 1201 UTC, I would know for a fact that it's debuting at 701 pm here, but they didn't, so I can only assume that they're going to release it simultaneously. Why would they cite what time they're releasing in the UK if Amazon is an American company and 701 pm EST is basically primetime here in the US? The US market is going to be even bigger than the UK market for this show, so why wouldn't they cite EST like every other show that debuts in the US? Ugh, this wouldn't be a problem if they'd have clarified which clock they're using.

So it either comes out at 701 pm today or 1201 am tomorrow morning, here. I won't know until 701. I'll get back with you.

I think 12:01 GMT is the worldwide release.

You can just get video which is cheaper.

Edit. Not having pizza now. I had curry for dinner and I am stuffed.

It actually went live around 11pm GMT - I flicked it on by chance at 11.25pm and just got finished watching it...

Spoilers incoming!

Overall, it was great. It was like how I expected it to be. Nothing more, nothing less. Being the pilot episode, I'd expect the next episode to give a better indication of where the series will be going.

It seemed like they used all the Instagram filters whenever they got a chance. Personally, I think they're hideous. In 2016 where everything is 4K, HDR, and cameras with a bazillion megapixels, the filters ruin the true beauty of the shots.

There were too many moments of pure cringe. For example the guest segment. That was just awful to watch. They even joked about how no one likes the segment and yet they continued to try to get a guest. The fact that they killed them all was just so cringeworthy. Also the "fight" between them and the audience was awkward. Someone shot the drone? Was that really needed? The Eboladrome is also just really over the top. Like who cares? There's no point in describing how dangerous it is. It's just a race track. There's no need to add drama. The drama should the cars! I get it, it's supposed to appeal to the casual audience now, but c'mon.

Mike Skinner? Who is that? There are a lot of American drivers that would have been better of a choice in my opinion.

The follows the Old New Top Gear's flow and overall there was nothing "innovative". It's just the continuation of the trio. People love them. People will watch.
