My whole family sat down with me to watch it. I'm the only one in my family who is into cars. They loved TopGear, and they love this. As do I!đź‘Ť

Eh, it was roughly what I expected. Meet the new show, same as the old show pretty much. Agree that the celebrity bit was just a waste of time, I thought it was looking good that they'd ditched celeb segments altogether then they did that. Who knows, maybe they will for the rest of the run rather than doing more pointless stuff. Fighting the audience was cringe.

Portugal track stuff was good, really again very much the same as the old show.

Also bemused at Mike Skinner, never heard of him. I was expecting The Ben Collins to return but I guess not. The track just seemed....uninteresting.

On another note watching in pristine 1080p I couldn't help but notice Clarkson has had his teeth done after years of mocking Hammond. They were noticeably yellow in the old VT segments, pretty white in the tent. Oh and about the tent itself, pretty sure that was a massive screen behind them rather than a window, which presumably would've messed with their lighting.

Tag to follow, I won't read through but that was so funny. Except that "American" crap he was saying in the car. *In Clarkson's voice* So stupid...

REVIEW TIME

I loved watching Top gear but it was always tricky keeping up with the new episodes and what not. Having all the episodes streamed to Amazon Prime was perfect for me (ps you can get Amazon Student for $50 a year and still have majority of Prime benefits, including prime video). That being said, I knew TGT would be similar to Top Gear but dang, this IS Top Gear, I was hoping that they would take the time to do something atleast slightly different but nope, all Top Gear. The live audience and the scripted jokes were very cringeworthy. They also have to make sure that they start to deviate away a little bit from a primarily British POV, they're no longer housed by the BBC, they're international now. Sticking with the America jokes, All British terminology, and Euro-centric news will only hurt them in the long run.
Complaining aside I still thoroughly enjoyed the pilot. The car segments are better than ever, the track is amazing, and the good jokes are still spot on. I look forward to watching this every week.

I don't really agree, Top Gear was already sold all over the world as it was (200+ countries, IIRC) and there wasn't any problem, it was hugely popular whilst it was UK-centric at the BBC. They will always be three British blokes.

I really liked it, it was familiar but refreshed.
Surprised at how many deaths there were though

Completely agree. They wouldn't want to mess with the very thing that gained them such popularity. The 3 personalities are what make the show. I mean they could be doing a cooking show and we would all be watching it.

I absolutely loved it, looking forward to more. It felt different than Top Gear, but similar enough to be happy that the show is back.

Felt like the next season of Clarkson's Top Gear. Though the jokes are less british for some reason. But still enjoyable.

I felt that it will be even better than Clarkson's Top Gear, more focused on cars than challenges.

Pretty enjoyable, met my expectations, missed the trio.

The trinity test was amazing, comparing the cinematography to Harris's video shows how much of a budget they have, the results were as expected
Dambrosio was clearly struggling with the car, and the 918 wins as it won when Harris did it, very impressive by Porsche

My main complaint is the American, jesus that guy needs to shut up, all his jokes fell flat and rightly so. Just get Ben Collins again.

I like the track, has a bit of everything but it seems to favor the power cars more but will see.

Really liked it, great intro, Hypercar test was superb and worth the couple years wait, some of the jokes were good but the fighting the crowd bit was crap.

Yeah, that part was a bit awkward, but I think it was a jab at Americans (being stubborn and rude towards anything not American) and the guy was not serious. I think they should have left it out though, and gotten someone different. Maybe they will get someone from the countries they visit to do the lap times in each episode?

Considering Mike Skinner is a regular driver at Goodwood, I don't think he really considers all non-V8 American cars communist

Having been to the filming of an episode, it's been incredibly interesting to watch this first one go to air.

The great thing about this is although it's still essentially the format of 3 guys messing about, it's done in a much less stilted manner. Being able to pretty much do what they want and having a much bigger budget and more freedom has made for a really watchable show.

When they first announced this, I wasn't that interested, I've never really liked Clarkson or Hammond, I just stuck around because I like James May (and cars, obvs). Then I started seeing little snippets and with "new" Top Gear falling flat on its face, I was starting to wonder. And then I was given the opportunity to attend the filming in Whitby and my mind was changed. I've even become a little bit fond of Clarkson and Hammond now I've spent time "with" them!

Keep an eye out for me & Famine in the audience when they air the UK episode(s). Of course you may not see us, but then again you just might ;)

It was really awkward. The only bad thing about the TGT. Though Clarkson remark over it are hilarious nonetheless.

Next will be Johannesburg. Gotta see what would be.

Seemed pretty good, will be watching all of them...

Also, I was sent an invitation to be part of the tent filming in Tennessee, but can't make it due to schoolwork :grumpy:

Oh and about the tent itself, pretty sure that was a massive screen behind them rather than a window, which presumably would've messed with their lighting.
It's not...

I can 100% truthfully tell you that is a genuine massive window looking out onto whatever is behind :)

Anyone heard if this series will eventually be released on Blu-ray or something? The Prime subscription is not worth it for me at all, I don't do Netflix or anything like that and have never ordered anything off Amazon.

Loved the show, enjoyed "new" Top Gear too but probably enjoyed this twice as much.

That aside, some IDs on some of the more obscure vehicles in the intro sequence would be awesome, even the exact IDs of the cars the three were driving, I would appreciate :)

Ford Mustang GT350R, Ford Mustang Galpin Rocket, and Ford Mustang Roush Stage 3.
