Ford Mustang GT350R, Ford Mustang Galpin Rocket, and Ford Mustang Roush Stage 3.

Thanks, realised they were all Mustangs but all different ones. That Galpin Rocket seemed very pinched/svelte somehow, less boxy, though perhaps I've not been as appreciative of the current gen Mustang as I should have been.

Plus Jeremy never getting fired from anything

He hasn't, has he? He wasn't fired from Top Gear and he still works for the BBC.

Back on the main topic... great show, I really enjoyed almost all of it. The three-dead-celebrities segment went on a bit and Hammond's delivery is still ball-achingly annoying at times, otherwise it was exactly what's expected from the magic four.

Beat me to it.

He's not the guy I would have gone with - since they have the budget, I'd have got someone well known - but he's a very brave man.
I agree,

I would have approached an Ex Champ Car / IRL race winner.

Overall though, I loved the show and it can only get stronger!

While not technically American, I would have loved to see Dario Franchitti do it.

His contract expired and wasn't renewed. He can still appear on the likes of HIGNFY and QI as they are shows made for the BBC, not by the BBC.

And I thought Mike Skinner was the guy from The Streets.

Oh and about the tent itself, pretty sure that was a massive screen behind them rather than a window, which presumably would've messed with their lighting.
I can 100% truthfully tell you that is a genuine massive window looking out onto whatever is behind :)
From the outside looking in:

We also got to see a celebrity die outside from that position.

Quite a good first episode, although i am not sure the Uk biased humour will work in all jurisdictions in a live audience, but I am sure they will tweak show to show. Great first show from a content perspective, being the 3 cars in question.

The track is horrid though, as is the test driver. Also back to TG inconsistency - JC made a meal eons ago of how Porsche made the Cayman good, but not as good as it could have been, to ensure it was slower than a 911. It's the same deal with the M2 - slower than the M3 which is slower than the M5. Glossed over though.

Looking forward to the rest of the series though.

Watched it last night, it was... alright.

Seemed like a minor evolution of the old TG, I was expecting something different I guess.

If you zoom that picture @Famine just posted you can see him but not me :odd:

That aside, some IDs on some of the more obscure vehicles in the intro sequence would be awesome, even the exact IDs of the cars the three were driving, I would appreciate :)

Richard Porter or Sniff Petrol as he is otherwise known tweeted about that yesterday :)

Two celebrities actually (on TV anyway).
We weren't at that one, we were at the Whitby one and we saw one celebrity die (won't say who or how, but the windows look directly out at Whitby harbour).

A second celebrity died in the following day's Whitby filming, but we didn't see that either because we were only at the first one.

I really hope all these celebrity deaths don't happen too often otherwise that'll be a permanent mark down for me. It was funny the first and second time but the third time it fell absolutely flat.

I'm also getting the feeling it's a running joke about how there have been so many celebrity deaths in 2016...

So you mean they do the dead famous person joke every show?
At least it isn't SIARPC again with boring interviews.

Anyway. Not the best episode I have ever seen but at the same time I do like it and will be watching the rest.

Also the McLaren being over a second down on the others is BS to make the joke of JC losing his house I am sure

Thing is, I used to like top gear when it was about cars.

Do I want to see a chat show with Jeremy clarkson, slow and small guy?

Hardly. So subzero they wouldn't even make the cool wall.

Mike Skinner was the best part of the show. "Couldn't pull a greased string out of a dog's ass."

Agreed, for those that haven't seen it, Skinner can actually drive pretty good for an American.

Mike Skinner has a significant set of brass ones. Better than that F1 driver, they obviously had three good drivers for some of the driving shots, anyone know who else drove on the portamao section ?

Richard Porter tweeted that the first episode they shot it and were told to build a show around it, so guessing changes still to come.

Loved the part where they asked the Mclaren and Porsche engineers which car was better  , also not sure the part where Jeremy braked hard and the P1 was all over the place because he had the DRS activated but he did look terrified.

Any news on the ratings so far?

Edit: does anyone have the times set by the trinity during Chris's show?

Edit2: Wow checked Harris's video and he is significantly faster than D'ambrosio (especially with the P1). Wonder if it's track conditions but man for a former f1 driver you expect more.

They did put a different tire compound (The same one on the other cars) on which supposedly lowered grip

So did Chris, he did the same running the regular compound and then did a lap on the Trofeo R which made the P1 much faster than the other 2.

You also have to bear in mind editing, despite it being a serious timed lap TG still like to show the slidely slidey stuff because it's more exciting TV, some of the shots of Jerome could've been from slower laps.

I wouldn't say it "made the P1 faster" as much as it "brought out/allowed it to do more of what the P1 could inherently do". You could say that about all three cars and therefore the P1 can inherently do "more" than the other two.

Taken into consideration but
Chris was faster with the Mclaren (arguably the most difficult to drive, and Dambrosio was a whole second slower than the other two, the GT results suggest the Porsche and Ferrari are equally as fast while both being quicker than the Mclaren which isn't the case.
