Glad to see you have most of the kinks worked out,

Count me in with the Shelby! It may not be the wisest choice, but i just like it! lol

Balls' it will be awesome to have you onboard!

With Jump's help we've put all the cars - modified versions - through a drag and 2 different tracks. I just have about 4 more cars to go and we'll be able to crunch the figures and see which ones need a little help and which ones DON'T!

I aim to have this done around the end of this week, work out the figures and start in just a few weeks time, aiming to come in at the end of the DTM and JGTC series.

Shucks Koly I dont know what to do! This series looks like a heap of fun, but Im afraid that with me going to college soon I may not have time. :(

I hope everyone has a great time with the series and that it goes well!

LOL Nice one Koly!

School starts soon for me, too. Summer reading though...I've forgotten all about that! :scared: Oops!!

Instead I'm now reading Sun-Tzu's The Art of War and must say that it is a VERY good study of...well...the art of studying things. It focuses on war but the techniques can be used in various other applications. I've also been TRYING--and drying so damned hard!--to finish my own fictitious novel. I've been working on it for 18 months and I've been close to finishing it for several weeks, nearly 2 months in fact, but haven't written more than a few sentences at a time.... I KNOW the ending and what I want to do, but I never have the time to progress it.

"Liff"...I wish I had "liff" instead of "life". It has to be much more sensible than this chaotic "life"! lol

Your own novel is a cool thing. I keep having people tell me that I should write ... but, yes, everyday life has a wonderful way of halting any such artistic expression.

I've never read The Art of War, but I know it crops up in a thousand different modern day applications ... including business.

I've had a marvelous success with the novel insofar as getting it written. However, only now has it ground to a halt so violently--much like a wrench in the cogs of some large machina.

And yes, The Art of War, while not intending to do so, does have a place in modern applications. You just replace things like "generals" with "managers" etc. I'm dissapointed in my copy, though; a majority of it is the author flaunting his knowledge of the time period and the history of the book itself. While this is cool, it takes up half of the book! I just wanted the original book, translated, with notes at the end about some of the more confusing things.

bleh... don't mention school or summer reading.... *cringe* It just serves to remind me that I haven't read anything either. Of course you can't really blame us when we're assigned some of the most boring and drawn out books of our time.

Anyway... So how much more testing do you have Koly? I've already done some testing of my own with the budget you already have. Must say, I like the Cuda like this. Not fully tuned, but it'll still beat out some other cars without much touching(Not that I can touch anything other than what parts to put on, weight balancing, and driving aids). I wanted to test some other cars, but I'm saving up my money to buy some cars to test out at Las Vegas *sigh* Millions and millions of credits just for 1/4 mile.

Well, *ALL* the cars have now been put through their paces on 2 tracks and the drag strip. It has been quite informative in many ways. Take the [C2] Stingray, for instance, it only has 3 gears (stock), but it's top speed far exceeds any of the other cars (including the C3), which on the long New York straight is very useful ... however, this seems to be at the cost of raw acceleration and the net result is actually weaker.

Most cars run very close lap times - close enough for my satisfaction - but one or two are way behind the pack and one or two are way in front of it, so I'm going to look at some HP$ adjustments and non-HP$ allocations. I want to have all of this done by this weekend, so people can then spend a little time doing their own testing and arrive at a car and mod-list choice that they are happy with.

The Cuda, btw, is one of my favorites ... it just sounds and feels like such a pure muscle car. At Deep Forest (testing track) it was certainly competitive, although at New York I struggled to get it up there in the right time range ... this particular car will be receiving some TLC until I'm happy that she's running well.

That's funny, Koly. I ran a bunch of the cars at Deep Forest, too, and found the 'cuda to my liking. lol I ran them all on SS tires in arcade mode with -10%kg and +20%HP to see how they handled in general. The heavier cars made a show of their suspension: the GTO seemed a bit TOO heavy though the heavier Charger turned much more easily to me. :P

I'll just have to wait and see how the cars handle with actual upgrades to HP and suspension when the list is finalized! Can't wait! ...Still! lol

The GTO .... as given ... is one of the weaker cars in this line up ... not *THE* weakest, but it's going to need a little something-something to bring it up into the pack. The Charger is one of the strongest, but doesn't need to be made any 'weaker' ... it's fine as-is.

For the record, when this thing kicks off and people start picking their cars, I'm probably going to go with something unusual and out of the pack, just to keep things spicey. I've had to buy, outfit and test all of these cars for the purposes of the competition (in some instances 2 or 3 times :P), so I'm looking forward to going with something like the C2 or a Camaro.

Kewl .. always loved the Chargers and will just have to see how I can do over the long haul.... Even if it is last :sly:

That is, if the statisticain can get out of the office, after crunching numbers. {Hint Hint, see e-mail 👍}

Glad to hear it Kolyana, she needs the attention IMO.

I just drove the C3 'vette. Very tame, almost too much so! The Superbird may be my pick but I've really yet to decide. I want to see the rest of the lineup so I can have a car with a different paint scheme at least! lol

Curious, I liked the C3 'Vette ... in my hands she was faster than the Superbird by far, but then I can't control that damned bird ... plenty of evidence of that from the Bird week in the WRS.

The 'bird was more willing in easier corners but in the hairpins it was a bit rebellious. We shall see how she flies when upgraded, no?

EDIT: in the WRS race I felt that it was rebellious in all turns. But then I realized a few things. One was that I had particular troubles in the uphill corners: once you reach the azimuth of the hill, the car has VERY little grip. The second was that this was without upgrades other than weight reduction at -10%. It did not find it a fair representation of its potential.

It was a tough week, that one. Control and cosistency were key more so than actual speed. I think that will be true here, as well. To a point....

The bird is a great car. There are a few muscle cars from this game that I'd have loved to see however.

Quick list:
Roadrunner
Boss Mustang
Daytona Charger(looks like the bird but it's a manufacturer preference I have)
Wider range of GTOs
GTX
Dodge Challenger
Belvedere
And the best of all-----
Plymouth Duster :lol::lol:

Ok so it wasn't a quick list. But still a list of cars that needed to be added!(Ok so some of them shouldn't... but they're still nice).

Actually I'm surprised the only version of the older Mustangs was the Shelby 350. I thought for sure at least the '67 model would make an appearance in the Classic garage.

Shoot, try playing Forza ... not one old car. Anywhere. At all. No muscle cars, nothing older than the 90's ... heck, maybe nothing older than the last 5 years :(

I have Forza. And yes, that DOES suck. Though it has a cool version of the C5 Corvette: the GrandStand edition.

And is it me, or do tires in that game have a hard time of doing their job?

AHhahahaa, it's different that's for sure .. you just have to remember to brake, never turn and brake, and then brake early. No ... earlier than that.

No ... earlier still ...

I quite like the game, but there's something about the car choices that seems somewhat limiting and ... of course ... a lack of wheel.

Still, it was while putting this series together that I realized one of their greatest flaws ... no freaking muscle ... not one!

It does have its moments.

For example I was racing the Rotary series in my RX-7 GT-X (Gen 2 in Forza) on the tri-oval like speedway. The INGS and the other semi-race RX-7 were neck and neck for most of the first lap and on the second lap when I caught up, the two spun each other out and I had to be careful to avoid them. It was freakin awesome to watch the parts literally flying from them and watch them eat up the track trying to recover. I didn't come out unscathed but I had the lead and won the race because of that! lol

And the breaking in that game is the most rediculous thing ever! :yuck: It's one of the hardest things I've done in a video game, and on a regular basis, no less. It tends to kill the fun when you have a smooth lap and you get beat because you breaked later than you thought; sometimes you feel like your breaking early but in Forza it's not enough.

Still, not a bad game. Just not as fun as GT4 nor as many different cars to drive. Like these here classics. ;)

Jet, your link got all screwed up there :/

Good to have you onboard, btw ... there's something about the GTO that is really nice, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

How about it being one of the first true muscle cars ushering in a new era? :)

Thatsodd. I figured the link would ...work.... Oh well. It was the Ultimate Muscle Car Challenge.

Edit: Just had a novel idea: A longterm choice to make.

Let's put up a situation here: I don't really like my GTO because it has the shortest gearing and is really hurting my laptimes. Why can't we save some of our upgrade money towards a new vehicle if we don't like our current one. I think it adds a real-world factor towards it. For vehicles you cannot buy, just figure three weeks of using your current vehicle (but not getting any money, since they are "free") to compensate for your saving. During those 3 weeks, you cannot upgrade a single item on your current existing vehicle. Any comments?

Well gearing may not be an issue, because to an extent all the muscle cars suffer from this to one degree or another (I took them all onto the NY circuit and they all maxed out their revs on one or both long straights). For those cars that really suffer in this regard, they may well find that they have the funds to buy a fully adjustable transmission as part of their non-hp package ;)

Your idea though may be a sound one ... perhaps the chance to switch cars at some point rather than receive the additional upgrade package I've been thinking about.

Let me mull it over.

EDIT: Regarding your link ...
You have something like http://http//blahblahblah in your link ... http is repeated and one of them doesn't have the colons in it (the text does, but the actual link doesn't).

Try this:
