Thank god we won. When that first goal went in, I died a little inside. Really. Then, after Maniche's terrible performance, when he got sent off, I think I was clinically dead for about 10 minutes.
Drogba had a brilliant game. He was calm, a very good sportsman, he played as good as he possibly could for the entire game, done work in defence, and worked harder than anyone else in the Premiership this week, and it paid off with a goal and a win. He really shone, and showed that he can be the good guy. The pairing of Drogba and Crespo worked quite well, though we don't really properly know how well they'd do together as a proper striking tandem, after both were forced into the midfield for periods to make up for Maniche's stupid, stupid tackle. No wonder he's never started before for Chelsea, and no wonder he barely plays.
I'm also very happy with Essien. He played a magnificent game, not far off from Drogba's performance. The two usual antagonists played very good protagonists today, though Essien's three header-attempts on goal were hilarious. I'm getting tired of Del Horno lately, too. He's been playing very average, and it didn't get any better against West Ham. I don't think he'll be staying long, personally. Bring back Wayne Bridge!
Oh, and I'm annoyed that Arsenal didn't win, but I kind of expected United to get the three points. They do look unstoppable at the moment, but if Chelsea play the way they did yesterday in the coming game against United, it will be a very good game.
