That new Durango looks awesome. So does that GMC Canyon. The Canyon looks like I could punch a whole in it though.

The Crossfire Cabriolet and SRT-6 begin production in the late Spring, early Summer according to Chrysler's 2-year plans. Hummer H2 SUT debuted all the way back at SEMA. Hyundai Tucson is a new SUV debuting in Detroit, same with the Ford scape HEV, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, the Lexus RX330 Hybrid, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, etc. The 9-2X is on Saab's website so I'd assume it's the final name. And the Saturn ION and VUE Red Lines, although jokes, are still models you're missing.

I'll see it when I believe it.

Hummer H2 SUT debuted all the way back at SEMA.

Yeah, for public view. It isn't for sale, and I question whether it will be.

Hyundai Tucson is a new SUV debuting in Detroit,

Let's hope it's based on the Kia Sorento.

same with the Ford scape HEV, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, the Lexus RX330 Hybrid, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, etc.

Obviously. Ford has cancelled and pushed back plans for their hybrid SUVs and trucks, and I'd bet just about anything that Escape's not out until at least 2005. Lexus and Toyota supposedly cancelled their hybrid SUVs.

The 9-2X is on Saab's website so I'd assume it's the final name.

Impreza-stealers.

And the Saturn ION and VUE Red Lines, although jokes, are still models you're missing.

We'll see.

The Crossfire is made by Karmann, why wouldn't they build it? And the Crossfire prototypes both had supercharged V6s, and we all know how good Chrysler is at producing concepts...

And the Hummer H2 SUT is already beginning production as we speak, they already had some to give out to tuners to show off at SEMA

Tucson = Sorento

And Ford is building the Escape HEV, its already been confirmed now. Same with Toyota, the production versions of the Highlander and RX330 hybrids are debuting at Detroit...

As for the rest, I think the purpose of the list is to inform people, not be a prick and not put on cars you don't like...

I actually mean the SRT-6. They'll produce the convertible, but I've been hearing "PT Cabrio" for a year and a half, and if it's not out by this Spring, it's not getting built. The SRT-6 is a bit foggy because why would they transfer a Dodge trim level to a Chrysler product? I don't buy it yet.

Yeah, I don't know why I said it won't be sold, but I do know it won't be for a while.

Sucks - Hyundai/Kia was on a roll until the Sorento.

Ford claims they will release the Escape HEV in late 2004, just as they claimed in February that it would be released in December 2003. Incidentally, the Escape is getting a Mercury version called the Mariner in the Fall - I can't wait for that.

Lexus does claim they're going to release the "RX400H" in the Spring as a 2005 model, and Toyota claims a similar thing, though a bit later in 2004 - odd since the Highlander gets redesigned in late 2005. What's the point of having a breakthrough hybrid engine for just one year? Perhaps Toyota knows.

That or I've been busy (don't actually expect an update to this until like January 3), or I haven't got pictures or details of them yet. Nice assumption, still.

The SRT badge is not Dodge exclusive, it's just only been on Dodges so far. The PVO spreads across all Chrysler brands.Ford claims they will release the Escape HEV in late 2004, just as they claimed in February that it would be released in December 2003. The Highlander engine is not unique, it is the same engine that is in the Prius. So no, it wont be a one-year engine.

Quotes like "What a joke", "Whatever", "Impreza-stealer", and "Sucks" when I mentioned something was missing would tend to lead to #1 however.

Well, they would have were they directed at you - which they weren't. Which wouldn't have justified the response in any event.

I meant using the engine for one year in the Highlander, then abandoning the design. It'd take a lot of promoting for just a year of use.

If you don't know me. I do that a lot. Doesn't mean stuff isn't getting done.

I saw an X3 today. I will not put up with anymore 'not out yet'-crap. Like when the new 5 wasn't supposed to be out, and I kept seeing it. ****er.

👍

You weren't seeing **** with the 5-series. I believe you this time and am impressed that it's taken this long for you to have seen an X3. You live in Germany, for God's sake!

I can see the new Malibu on the list.....
When I first saw the new Malibu comercial I thought it was a used car comercial or something.... I thought the car looked a little plain and old in its designs or something.... Nothing significant in the design to spark interest at all.....
So..... I guess it has good specs and reliability or something? I mean if they want to sell a car that looks like that, they should be pretty confident with what it can do....
Is it just me who thinks it looks plain?
Any ideas on the specs on the new Malibu?

It's super-plainl; so was the first one. I'm pretty sure they don't want to get attacked for making it ugly - I think the point is to pack it with good features for a quality price then, once sales rival Toyota and Honda, make it beautiful.

I have no idea whether it's a good car/value or not, but I like the looks and the on-paper practicality of the Malibu Maxx.

Right - the Malibu has been super-reliable, even going back to 1997. The problem always was that a good percentage of the population has a bias against domestic cars based on reliability - so this time around, GM instead packed it with features hoping to win on value.

Spec rules. The two models I recommend are the LS and LT, both of which come standard with a 200-horsepower 3.5L V6, the most efficient six-cylinder in its class by fuel economy. Malibu LS starts at $20400 with traction control, ABS, cruise control, power-adjustable pedals, keyless entry, and 15" alloy wheels. The LT starts at $22900 and comes standard with curtain side airbags, automatic climate control, a remote starter, leather upholstery, heated seats, a power driver seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls, heated mirrors, a rear spoiler, fog lights, and 16" alloys. It'd be the best car in its class if it had 20 more horsepower (or 13 horsepower and a manual shift gate).

It's absolute trash. The base model, the X5 3.0i, is the worst premium SUV except for the Land Rover Discovery S, and the X5 4.4i isn't a whole lot better.

You can get everything the X5 offers and more for less money in the Durango Limited 5.7, Axiom XS, Envoy XL SLT 5.3, Murano SL, Grand Cherokee 4.7 Limited High-Output, and Rainier CXL 5.3. Just because they haven't got a premium badge doesn't mean they're no good.

........"Horrible Engine Except Cobra".....Mach 1's missing a blower Same nice 4.6...
As for the Malibu...The Styling isn't that great, the chrome strips don't help it at all.

Oh. Well, if your ignorant brain decided the Malibu has ugly chrome strips - take it off the list. By all means.

Freaking loon.

Funniest person on GTP by far. You should do an "all new for this model year" thread every year. You know you're one of the few people taken seriously here when people ask questions about their cars value and competitors....

Yeah. Thanks. I actually have big plans for this thread but it's taking forrrrreeeeevvvvvvvvvvverrrrrrrr to get it off the ground. Which is odd because it's really not that big a task. We'll see.
