Ya they would be getting things ready, but I wouldn't count out a concept version during the 2006 auto show season.

For some drawing that have been in magazines, they all look retro. But the Mustang doesn't look god aweful.

Yeah, but the GTO was a step forward. A modern muscle car that actually looks modern. Maybe dull in some people's eyes (not mine ;) ) but modern nevertheless. Don't go retro, it's like a fad.

It will be interresting to see what the next gen of Camaro looks like and how it performs. If it gets a rendering from Kris Horton then the body designwill have great potential. Im sure they will give it a respectable amount of HP otherwise it will get crushed by the Mustang SVT. I even like the new Mustangs and would gladly drive one as long as it was an SVT Cobra. 👍
As for the GTO, I am not to fond of the body. Just looks like a Grand Am or Grand Prix. The drivetrain is excellent. Just get rid of the body or at least don't call it a GTO.

I was never a big Camaro/trans am/firebird fan myself...but I was distraught to hear em go.....It'd be great to have them come back...it'd put some more rivalries on the street instead of RSX's and Celica GT-S's..the slowest/ugliest rivalry out there...
The GTO looks too subtle for the badge, it looks like any other economy car just slightly longer......I mean if you were to eliminate some trunk space you could easily think it would be a J body car at first glance.....But that's my 2 cents.....Camaro's need to come back....and I hope a new ZL1 makes concept stages..

The TRD Supercharger kit gives the 1ZZ celica more gun then the stock 2ZZ has.

TRD blower-equipped Celica or GT vs. any Honda Integra or Acura RSX - Celica

How much power does the TRD Supercharger kit give the celica because I can't see a 160HP (what TRD rates their 1zz-fe supercharger putting out for the Matrix and corolla) supercharged Celica having more bite than a 180HP N/A 2zz Celica.....

Well unless I'm mistaken the TRD kit boosts output from 140 to 200, at least in the Matrix's 1ZZ. And the 1ZZ in the Matrix is also the 1ZZ in the Celica and GT. I believe it's the xA/Ist/xB/bB's motor that gets the boost to 160. At least that's what the dealer guy said :/

And Blazin although one of my favorite nicknames for Prez is George Wuss that's not his actual last name :P

Actually....according to the trdusa website...there's a maxiumum performance gain of 40HP....which would pit it in the neighborhood of 180, if you start with a 140HP base..... Which still shouldn't be enough to beat "any Honda Integra or Acura RSX" like a 210HP RSX-S

Hmm blower vs. VTEC. Although it's down some if it has a 40hp gain - to 180 - it's going to be a much more predictable engine than the 2ZZ-GE. Because VVTL-i kicks in at about 6,500 to 7,500 - right where the 1ZZ redlines. I believe the regular Celica has a 5-speed manual with wider ratios to make more use of the torquey blown motor. And considering i-VTEC picks up at high end like VVTL-i, I'd say the Celica might have a slight advantage on a tight, touge-like course.

Either way, although I'm Honda everything else (Motorcycles, jetskis ect) I'm not a Honda car guy, save the original CRX and flip-up headlamp NSX. So you couldn't convince me to drive it, even if a Honda Integra Type R could smoke it :P

Now I truely have no respect for you and I believe you can go do something to yourself.

Well...The RSX-S has 210HP and 143ft lbs of torque....where a blown 1zz will have 180HP and 145 Ft lbs...This is all from the TRDUSA.com site of course...along with the RSX-S six speed, to utilize the HP at higher RPMS..I think it'd take it on a close touge course aswell.....
As for the ITR....with 152ft lbs....220HP and 200 lbs lighter....i think it'd take it even easier....but man are we off topic....

Horray for the Camaro!:D:D:D:D:D

Same platform, same engine, same brakes, same suspension, same interior ( minus chevy / pontiac decals )

same as saying a door sunfire is better than a 4 door cavalier of the same year !

Only by a front clip and a rear clip, and the interior, and minor exhaust/intake/suspension options (and I think even these have been just Camaro packages named differently).

Haha.

Really, GM should've just rebodied the old platform and stuck it back into the market. It was the look that was wearing thin not the platform...Car and Driver gave the Camaro Z28 ragtop a comparison test win in late 2000 or 2001 i think.

The problem was, a optioned out version was spitting distance from a corvette....with way more advanced suspension and platform ....who wouldn't spend an extra 2 grand to get e vette over a 'maro / or firebird ?

I like the look of this. It sorta reminds me of the Pontiac Firebird
