Hey guys, so I thought it would be nice having a single thread, where all input/help/videos/discussion would be stored. I think that could actually be a nice help for those, trying but still struggling to gold some of those challenges. Please post your runs of any of those challenges as well and/or give your input, as to what is important to gold challenge x and y. I'll start with commented videos on my gold licence runs:

Unfortunately all the times are now quicker after update 1.32 and a lot harder to achieve. Spending many hours on the super licence trying to get .1 of a second for gold. Could have had all gold now on the old times as shown in this post. Still the demos are very helpful.

The physics became a lot more forgiving though, so that in the end, the golds became actually easier (most of them I reckon).

I agree Alex. I had half my super license golds achieved prior to 1.31. And finished them after 1.31.

I found S-2, S-5 and S-7 to be easier with the new physics and harsher times.
I found S-4, S-8 to be harder to do now.

As for S-10, it’s hard to say. I didn’t invest as much time before 1.31. Got it two weeks ago but had to lock myself in a room every night ignoring the wife and kids while dad was focusing on his “work”.
It took me close to 1,000 km worth of time to nail it.

You're a busy man indeed... :D

I'm very proud of you, Padawan!
Careful with the next mission, the Porsche is much faster than the Jeep - You'll need some time to adapt to the very high speed
Aha .....but i golden all yesterday except the jeep .
And today only two left on next one , the dirt which is matter of time and the damn cones .
I pass the drift comfortably ( short of ) and i stuck at the damn cones ....🤬🤐💥_$#$## .

To succeed the cones mission with the Toyota Aqua, you have to use the full width of the car, to limit movement, and drive as straight as possible. On the first cones, it is necessary to take a little more amplitude, so you don't have to accelerate like crazy to catch all the cones. The end of the race is on the other hand, thoroughly.

May the 4th be with you!!

How do you drift? I'm using a steering wheel and it's either short drift and spin out or nothing. Don't know how I scrambled through on one of the tests but didn't gold. Perhaps that was a mission test. I've tried touching the handbrake but really have no idea.

I use a wheel when I play GT7 but I read here in the past, and I totally agree that using the controller is better for the drift missions.

Trouble is, I'd have to spend a whole lot of time learning to use the controller again. Used to use one with PS1 back in the 90s, but then been on wheel since getting my first one. Now just set up after 20+ years for GT7 and on PS5 with wheel, don't like the controller. Maybe I'll have to learn :-(

I only played GT1 and 2 on the controller. Took 20 years off from playing. Bought a PS5 and GT7 and immediately went right back to using the controller like I never stopped playing. It's like riding a bike. You never really forget how to do it.

Durn, the Intermediate Drifting one is a beast to gold, I have gotten over 6000 but I am still short 1200-1300 points. The car keeps going offtrack when I try to do a long drift at the end. The expert one is harder b/c that is a beast rally car at Tsukuba. It goes so fast you have to use precise throttle control to master it.

The mixed class pass challenges are giving me a headache/severe stress from doing it so much. The fuji one is a nightmare. Cannot find a rhythm for passing the rivals.

I feel your pain on the drift missions and that Fuji pass. Here was how I had to drive to beat it:

For me is more difficult to pass the cones than get gold at drift

Am not a drifter anyway,am using a controller and playing with ..... buttons 👀😵‍💫 .
You don't have to do it at once , most likely to went out or stop scoring points after one point .
Took me about 5 minutes the one at second mission and was a two part drift for over 7000 .
With a wheel i guess is more difficult with all that force at the wheel from side to side, perhaps increasing the steering sensitivity might help but i don't know for sure.
We did some challenges back at gt6 and some of them was about drifting, so i start training for them .
I don't know if is the same at gt7 but at gt6 drifting outside the " line " you couldn't get any points.
The one i did was much easier using 2 parts of drift than try to do it at once .
Try to observe how you earn as many points you can, the angle of the car etc.
Split the way in two or maybe more parts if it quite long and try to do the same again.
A short drift in the right angle and speed collect more points than a bigger one when things are not " right" , speed , car angle , line ,etc.

Pass me the damn cones and ill do the drift for you 😅 .

The drifting missions in GT7 are very difficult IMO. I've managed to gold all of them with the exception of the last one (The Sun Also Rises - Mission #6). This was using the wheel, which seems to be regarded as more difficult than using the controller.

Perhaps you might first ask yourself, "Will I be satisfied with a result less than gold?" For me, the answer was no, and I'm sure there are a lot of others here that feel similarly.

Then, if you're a wheel user, "Will I be satisfied with a gold using a controller?" For me, the answer is also no. If you don't use the wheel or don't care about how you earn the result, the controller seems to be easier for people.

How to drift? Great question, first of all. The game does not really delve much into the details and technique you'll need to develop. Take it from me, someone who does not know how to drift, this will be an exercise in trial and (mostly) error.

What I can tell you after many trails and errors is this:

- You'll need to get used to modulating or easing your throttle inputs. Treating the throttle like its an on/off switch is like doing french fry when you should be pizza-ing while skiing - You're gonna have a bad time.

- You may need to go slower. There are a couple ways to do this, coast or brake before the drift section starts is the simplest but will likely cost you points. The other way, if you watch videos of people getting gold, you'll notice sometimes that they initiate a short drift in the opposite direction of the main drift sector (for example: with the Mustang drift mission, short drift to the left first then snap over for the drift to the right to finish the hairpin turn).

- The most points are earned the closer you are to the driving line. i think you can turn on the driver aid for this (I don't know for sure, maybe someone will correct or confirm this). So even if you have a nice and long drift, if you're off the line you'll be spinning your wheels, figuratively (and literally).

- Weight transfer is important to consider. I don't know if it helps, but I change the brake balance to -5 (forward). My theory is that it will transfer weight forward quicker to unload the rear tires. Then a short (very short) stab at the handbrake can put you into a drift.

- Adjust the oversteer correction driver aid to what suits you best. Luckily there are only 3 options (off - weak - strong), but I've had mixed results with this. Sometimes I used it, others I didn't. And I honestly can't remember which ones I used when I got better scores.

- Imagine how you want to run through the drift sections. That's perhaps vague, but I try to imagine what a good drift looks like through the trial if I were, say, watching this as a spectator. Watch some tutorial videos (there are some here in the original post) to see what you want to try to do. But if I don't have a vision of what I'm trying to do, it all feels like I'm drifting blind not really knowing if what I'm doing is correct or working.

- Be patient. If you don't seem to be making progress, do something else and come back later.

Unless you're here on GT7 to drift (they do exist) you're probably going to have a difficult time with each of these missions. Each one, a different car that you have to learn how it behaves and relearn any technique you may have acquired from the last mission.

That's mostly all I have to say about it.

Cheers.

Thank you GlockPants for taking the time to explain drifting in GT7. I did return to the mission yesterday and had another go. It's a 2 way drift which must be connected. I've got no hope of doing that. I need 3000 points for bronze. So far best is 1800 and a disconnect on the drifts. I'd be happy with just bronze and park it.

So I've been trying Driving Mission 31 - Moby Dick - Mixed Class Race Overtaking 1 - Gold and really struggling tro come to do the pass for the final two cars, I've got 2nd because the NSX has made a couple of oopsies but I cannot outdrag the Aston Martin over thhe line, it always has 0.5 tenths on me.

Is there some trick I am missing here or is there a bug with the mission difficulty/spacing of the cars, my race the NSX is never overtaking/outdragging the Aston Martn over the finish line it's always just beside me 0.5 tenths behind.

Anyone any ideas/suggestions?
I've been trying to do this for about 3 hours now, but it's not possible!
I try for about 15 minutes, then go back to the menu and back in to get a better, lighter Ki. But it's no use, I can't do it!
No matter which video I watch, they are all different from mine!
I can do whatever I want, but I'm always 1 second behind first!
where is the trick?

That was a really tough one for me to beat. I tried driving a bunch of crappy and slippery cars before I re-ran this one just to get better at car control. I think it really helped with my confidence to get on the gas sooner exiting the turns. Here was my run:

Yeah, PD really spoiled the fun in that mission challenge. I am having trouble with it too.

I've done some of the human comedy races last few days. I just did Kyoto 1H and it was by far the one I liked the most. Even though I wasn't expecting an old Beetle as my main opponent, it was the perfect opportunity to bring out the good old Mitsubishi GTO in its GT1 RM livery!

I didn't really pay much attention to my settings because I won on my first attempt. The most important thing was to keep it as gentle as possible with its tyres, you can still shorten the gearbox though.

I have to Gold everything.

This time around, I can't seem to be able to gold S4 despite sinking 3 hours on it...
I will gold it before I head to the final

The secret to gold is:
Patience
Perseverance
Strive for clean Perfection

Be one with the car, don't fight it.
And remove traction control, sometimes it just works against you.

Good luck

Edit:
I enjoy doing the circuit experience,
But I have not tried the Missions yet (only a first few), or coffee breaks or what not.
