Some one else suggested deleting the Thecrewmotorfest folder in documents. Seems like it works for some people.
Thanks, gave it a try but it's still the same. Something is causing the performance to rapidly decline, this is the first benchmark run after running the game up, if I run the benchmark a second time without restarting the game it just starts lower and falls lower. I'll have to wait to see if they fix it during the beta.

After playing the Motorfest beta for a few hours,I think it's pretty fun. It's a mix of Horizon and the old TDU games.

Also imported my garage from TC2, and it seems that some cars can only be accessible from having a high enough XP level from races and skills. The physics are easy to get used to, and I think you can copy your pro settings over and they almost feel the same.

I just have the Electric Playlist left, then I can mess around with the world and get all the collectibles.

I was sent a beta invite to my Xbox email address despite having only just bought TC2 in the Xbox sale last week (owned TC2 on PC far longer, but no invite sent there - is it Xbox only?).

Should have a chance to try it this weekend. I'm hoping that the physics are closer to Forza Horizon than The Crew 2 was - I enjoyed driving a few cars in TC2 but some of them were very bland or strange, lacking consistency across car types. I need a bit more nuance to the driving for Motorfest to pull my interest long term.

Does anyone played it with the wheel? How is it? Is it better than The Crew 2? I noticed it has great wheel rotation animation :)

Sadly not from my feeling (on XBCtrl/PC), as numb as tC2 without any real feedback and old 911, S2000, Jeep, 959 Rally all kind of the same and impossible holding a drift in the nearly stock S2000 because understeer or spin. Could still change but don't believe in it. FH5 is way better.

If anyone here is in the closed beta, can you play without being disturbed by other players? As in, can they hit or harass you? Or can you free roam relaxed?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

Japan story was pure sweat. Especially RX7 episodes, its real Mona Lisa.

Scenic and 911 are easy. Tomorrow will try Electric and Vintage.

S1 already maxed and even have x1 legendary part, thanks to lootboxes and SakuraRX7 with highest perf rating stock. You should have this or Hypermotard.

They're all ghosts. It's distracting when free roaming but they get ghosted so it's fine.

edit

I was wrong. The ghosting only happens to AI racers in free roam.

Apparently, everyone is on cars, so I'm cruising in my Harley Davidson from TC2.
I finished the Japan story, and I got the special Supra as a reward. I noticed the steering animations and are so much better than FH's.
So far, loving everything in it (Series X), but it can do with further optimization, as I have noticed more frame dips here and there.

The new handling is good compared to TC2 but I find the way the car break traction is a bit odd with AWD cars. Like the loaner Evo X in Made in Japan playlist and trying out my own Chiron, whenever it lose traction it seem to be only the rear is sliding off like a RWD car trying to hold a drift. RWD cars handles great for me, enjoyed driving around in my RX7.

Hawaii map looks fantastic but it is a lot smaller than I was expecting, I thought it will be similar scale to TDU1. The routes for races is decent, the outskirts are fun to drive but the city is still not a fun place to race for me.

Still clueless on how the progression works and not really sure when I can start using the cars I imported for the events, so far only played 2 playlist and they are all loaner cars.

The ghosted AI in the open world feels like a weird addition and I hope it can be turn off and I wasn't really a fan of the filter they use at the second half of the Made in Japan playlist, looks cool initially then it kinda uncomfortable to look at it. Drift physics for the drift cars still feels odd too.

I think the Ghost AI in Freeroam are there to point you to an event spot. But yeah, having them off would be nice.

Might try out The Grand and Demo Royale tomorrow too.

I'm looking positively at the AI being ghosted. In every Forza Horizon or almost when you'd be offline the Drivatars would just ram you blindly. I hope that's the case for players too if you can encounter them too 'cause in TC2 I can't recount how many times I've been rammed when cruising... especially by cop wannabe's and planes that dove to ram.

I think is meant for that but there is a GPS leading you there and I find that quite pointless and distracting since I'm not even sure is that an actual player or the ghosted AI.

The AI is ghosted but actual player cars seem to have collusion on, I bumped into a player when running to a event starting point.

Dose anyone know if I transfer my car collection to the beta will I still be able to transfer it to the full game when it releases?

After you finish playlist all activities will be available for replay with custom settings(like in Horizon)

I hope there's decent amounts of playlists and that the game isn't ''technically'' over after them.

The nitro on pretty much all cars is rather stupid and distracting, but after I turned it off I had a hell of a job getting near the AI cars that still use them constantly.

No issues on PS5. I tried the graphics mode but couldn’t really tell the difference so mostly using performance.

Handling is a bit odd. My starter Mustang is a bit of a handful with the assists turned off, a tail-happy boat.

Haven’t got to use any boats or bikes yet - they will be a nice difference from Horizon.

yea, I found the custom setting just now. Redo the last race of the Hawaii tour playlist in monster trucks, that is fun jumping around the city and driving on roof tops:

It seems like the cars you buy is for the custom mode and main stage only. Just did the EV cars playlist that has a pop up that say I need a Taycan to start, bought one and I'm still given a loaner car to use in events.

I hope there's decent amounts of playlists and that the game isn't ''technically'' over after them.
I think it was announced there will be 15 playlist at launch and more to come through post launch updates.

Thank you for the replies, but I am getting mixed replies here. So which are ghosted and which aren't ghosted?

Actual players cars are not ghosted but the group of AI cars that are randomly speeding around the open world are ghosted.

Well, that's unfortunate. It does make me take a step back from purchasing what seems to be, otherwise, a great title. I'd actually prefer the AI were the ones not ghosted because, at least, the AI just does its thing and won't go around following you and hitting you.

If you don't mind me asking as well, how many players per free-roam lobby?

Interesting thing though, I found this video on the closed beta. At 7:44, there appears to be a player getting ghosted. I say it's a player because his arrow appears on the mini-map, the AI don't.

I’m not sure, the most I’ve seen at the same spot is around 5-6. Most of the time I see 1-2 player cars pass by me in the open world.

I think the player is in pause menu, they are ghosted when they are in a menu.

I've put an hour in to the Closed Beta so far, and have various comments:

  • Playing this game without HDR really looks bad (I played a bit in SDR before switching on HDR). I'd say HDR is pretty much compulsory, but it takes some effort to avoid it looking overblown when tuning.
  • I like the ability to turn off NOS when racing. In the Japanese playlist events the AI also seemed to not use NOS when I turned it off, unlike in the intro events. Or was that just me not noticing?
  • Why did they make the classic cars playlist a different palette? It's all brown and sepia lighting, looks really weird.
  • For some reason, the visual style is just a bit too "busy" for me. The roads and hills are fine, but it feels a lot less comfortable to play than TC2 or Forza Horizon for some reason, I think because there's always so many off track props maybe?
  • The map is really well done. Visually impressive, and MUCH more interesting than TC2. But as mentioned they've got rid of all those long filler highways from TC2 and condensed everything into a single Hawaii island.

But of course the biggest thing is physics and car control. I think I prefer it to TC2, but it just feels very dull to me. The rumble motors on the Xbox controller are barely used, and it doesn't use the impulse triggers to simulate acceleration or braking grip loss, so actually playing with the controller leaves me cold. Add to that an adequate but not very interesting driving feel and I'm not hugely enthusiastic.

So yeah, it's fun to try, but the combination of the busy graphical feel and the rather subdued driving experience are not making me want to buy it at launch. This is obviously all my preference, though, it does plenty of things well enough of course.

Vintage Garage and Electric Odyssey done. Both easy, but idea isn't bad. Also, Mainstage is finally unlocked(5 playlists+4-5 challenges).
