Hey guys, I'm looking for a fun, simple car game to scratch that itch I so often get, and keep me occupied for a few weeks. But before i spend an enormous chunk of money on another Ubisoft game (got burned by The Crew 2) I thought I'd ask if its Motorfest is worth the cash. I dont have high expectations, I just want to be moderately entertained for a while. Does anyone know what the single player content is like? Is there enough events/variety/progression to make it worthwhile?
Well if you aren't interested in Forza Motorsport or Horizon and don't really give a damn about physics, yes it is worth the money.

Preeetty much, unfortunately I can't afford to have both consoles, or a PC that can run either of those games. Shoulda mentioned that.

What didn't you like about crew 2 hard for us to know unless you tell us ? gameplay is the same more or less the cars though feel so much better to drive using a wheel IMO and the new maps cool sometimes i forget I'm not on FH5

Physics is arcadey but fun. However, to enjoy some classes of cars, such as drift, it is better to use the pro settings.

Single player content is lacking.
Playlists have some volume. However, some classes have fewer events, such as monster truck, drag, and motocross.
Also, there are no Motorflix-style stunts or pursuit events, nor are there any events using service class vehicles such as taxis.
I'm a little doubtful that this game will be able to satisfy you for several weeks.
As mentioned in other posts in this thread, some people are already tired of the game's content after a month.

However, Motorfest is a typical GaaS model game.
It is also possible that future updates will improve these issues and give us enough events and game modes similar to TC2.

If you're looking for a "complete" game, don't buy this game yet. It would be better to wait for a sale.
However, if you are looking forward to future updates and can wait, it may be worth buying now.

You can get 75 hours out of it, its (mindless) entertaining and will fill up with content eventually, there was a trial (not sure if its still active) time limited to 5 hours so try before you buy. It gets boring as its not a game to master more of a grindy type, if you want a skill based game wait for WRC 23 (3rd nov) its only 45...

It’s pretty funny to see studios always kill grinding methods before fixing other big issues.

People are only grinding for parts because there’s nothing else to do and to compete in summits. Now it just makes the grind worse and a bigger advantage to people that already did.

I really feel like I am having a hard time grinding for money. i don't want to use grind methods to be honest. I wish they were just a bit more generous with the money so I was able to buy cars every week. I get wanting player engagement but it really sucks that we have to play so much during the week to gain that cash.

75 hours is plenty. Tbh all racing is mind less. That is the draw being in the zone :)

I am having fun still hasnt done all the playlists. Some are predictably less entertaining. Electric cars which only selling point is the acceleration you cant feel is just pointless here and every other racing game.

The gp racing nice that tire wear is real but ai uses its tires in 5 corners so way to easy.

Also what is this games idea about touring cars? Gt and hyper cars is touring cars here.

The most fascination is at what level the top players are. I spent maybe 24h and is level 9.

Havent done much online but top is like 4500??? Is that some 12000? Sure you can probably grind more effective but say 6000 hours?

Yeah I agree being in the zone is relaxing with some good tunes for the ride. For me its a good game to dip into so that it stays fresh. Its now in rotation with my other 20 driving games. I admire the tenacity of the folks who do grind, I would engage with that side of the game if it didn't have an element of chance woven into it. I enjoy games for relaxation, I wonder if those who have hit the heights grinding have genuinely suffered for their hobby?

Don't bother with the top 'players', probably everything >1k is achieved via bots, AFK or 24h playing with people swapping places on the same account. They are farming LPs to get a star on the Mainstage. Ubisoft is already looking into it. But I wouldn't be surprised if nothing is going to happen to these accounts.

hmm when did they change so you can fast travel to every event. It used to be just the first one now I can destroy hawaii by just fast travel everywhere and break immersion :(

Once you complete 10 Playlists, you can fast travel to any event rather than just the main site. It's been like that since day 1.

New vehicles leaked for Season 2!

Only thing missing now would be a Circuit Editor.
Adding new events regularly to the existing playlists would be welcome / increase engagement. I dipped in for 20 mins this week, but as it stands im now completely disengaged which for a GAAS title is complete failure. Ive still about half the challenges to do, but they're so repetitive (summit also) and poorly implemented that there really is no motivation... Will check in again with it after a few months break hopefully it will get some compelling events added. Off to WRC for some fresh entertainment.

The only long term hook is grinding for legendary part sets to use to get summit cars. If you don’t care about that, there really isn’t much meat in the game at all.

They’ll probably add like one new playlist every 3 month season.

The best feature Ive found relating to parts is, filling your mail box up so that all new parts auto delete afterwards. A lot of those summits only seem to offer vanity items, which is a joke.

I guess they could add an option to race for up to 10 laps or more on Non-Time Trial, lap-based after completing a playlist. I'd love if they made that move!

Sup guys has anyone been testing the aero settings ? I was trying it for the summit 918 race as it's almost flat out I removed all the aero the handling was more "drifty" but i also lost 8mph from the top end ?

I don't know... to me it feels like the whole displayed stats about aero, braking distance etc is either broken or not working at all.
In TC2 you could easily see if and how editing the settings would affect your car by showing green or red numbers or indicators.
