The best way to test damage would be this:

Select a SINGLE premium car, and have multiple people with different driver level crash test that same car. That could give us a more definitive, if not FINAL answer as to how the damage system works.

Crashing any car should show damage. And it hasn't happened for my part, so it does not seem to work. Wonder what would happen if I returned to the shop and said that the game is broken because the car don't take damage and I get no interior view in most of them.

Finally something official!! ok so it's not relevant the level you are, they still have to tweak the damaging system and patch the game.... let's hope it's not gonna take 5 years :D!

What ever they say, I'm gonna expect it to take twice as long :P

But its nice with some updates

:nervous:, Dam·"& it Kaz, what happen?
I mean, I will looooove the game, right now is coming to my home, right from the US...
But, really don't know what is going on, so many people are just pis·"$ off...
Online content is great, whenever free.

A big hug.

Eager Snake.

Really? Got a source? Seems like a bad business practice to totally change the nature of a game after release.

I don't know what to say. Business shouldn't fix or change things after something has been released? I don't want t insult you so ill leave it at that.

I think I said a few weeks ago I except to see updates and new features added to this game. Where all all those people back then who were saying Kaz wanted this to be complete game and they will not be working on it after launch or updating it :D

That's not what I'm saying, I'm saying that a company should follow through with their promises. This is not a minor "whoops, got an unexpected bug, let's fix that". This is a "push it out the frickin' door before the holiday season! Oh it's not done? Screw 'em, we'll patch it in later."

Lots of video game companies do similar things, but this is just ridiculous, the game is not complete as it's being sold now. It's been rushed out to capitalize on the holiday season, I understand the reasoning but I really don't care.

Truly, it's the gaming community's own fault for being so wishy washy and forgiving, we as consumers deserve better for our $60. No other industry operates this way. I'm a firearm collector, if CZ rushed into production a pistol that was incomplete, say it wasn't fitted with sights, the firearm community would be beside's themselves, CZs name would be tarnished badly and CZ sales would hurt. This just doesn't happen in the gaming community.

We just kind of nerd rage for a minute then go back to our games.

Where the problem with GT5 started from is PD announcing release dates that never happened. The game kept getting pushed back further and further. Finally the game drops and theres something not quite right about it. The game is packed with features, some new, some old, some broken, and some just don't make much sense. Why have a car wash feature when your car never gets dirty? Why does the damage to my car disappear at the end of the race? Why are the customers still as confused about the product as they were before it was even released?

With all of the delays, the game should be close to 100% complete off the shelf. Hearing that PD promises to continue working on GT5 to complete it with weekly/monthly updates just adds fuel to the fire. Perhaps it's time for new management at PD?

well it is what it is, games are hard to make, some games more the others. Some get it all right some don't. The best games are the ones that continue to evolve over time. Tf2 does this. It only cost 20$ and its first version had so many balance issues, but now it is a world class competitive game, it still gets updated and tweaked and they make there money from the store additions hats weapons ect. And that game took a very long time to make a very long time. I'm a developer so i can tell you sometimes what you start with even after a year or two is not what you end up with. Its ok to be upset about things you want in the game, I'm not defending PD but i can appreciate what they have done, and if they continue to fix things then good, i will be playing this game for a long time, if not i will move onto something else when I'm done..

Well that's bad news... a critical and much louded portion of the game and those without broadband will not have access... this is literally releasing a broken/unifinished game if you ask me.

And the way he says they hope to... I hate that... that wishwashy type of answer again that doens't mean anything really.

Honestly if this is how it's going to work out, they should have released the game for $40, said as much and released the features as paid DLC or something over time. At lesat that way people without broadband don't pay for a partial game with no way to get the whole thing and those of us with broadband at least only pay the full price for the full game.

So they're going to add damage later. Actually, it says they "hope" to add damage later. Just like they were going to add damage to Prologue, right? In 2008.

Maybe this thread should be merged with the EMO thread? I see nothing but complainers. So the hell what? You wanna total your car? Go try out destruction derby, i hear that one is pretty realistic. What if you total your first Mazda? Game over? Where you going to get the funds to repair it or buy another brand new car to race? Hmm, haven't heard an answer to that one yet. But I have seen stuff like 'fail damage'; and other crap like 'rushed game'. Lets see you make something like this in 5 years on a Blu-Ray disc.

These threads are a total waste if you can't cut slack to GT but don't complain about every other racing title with their pre-rendered damage. You think NFS or Forza's damage is so much better? A question for you all, who in here has reached level 30? How about 20? Another question, who in here likes to total their car in real life? Who in here has totaled their car in real life? How much did it cost you to fix it? When you consider things like that you understand that GT while being a simulator has to appeal to a broad audience. Not just die-hard race sim fans that like to grope about how there's no scratches on their bumper, or how they bounce off tire walls. You think they sell 10 million copies to nothing but damage lovers? At least were going to get a patch, maybe you should stop complaining. Maybe if you yell loud enough Kaz and PD will hear you! There's a famous saying, **** in one hand and wish in the other, see which one fills up faster.

You have no idea what you're saying.. Mechanical damage is important for good online experience. It will make people more aware and not ram each other like headless chickens. The adrenalin level when racing is much bigger when you have to consider the damage aswell, therefore makes it much more quality racing. And offcourse it should apply for that race only, don't be a kid..

You control your emotions, if you're butthurt over a thread it's your fault not ours. Maybe you should just stop reading the thread if you are incapable or unwilling to control your emotions.

You have the most emo post in this thread btw.

Seems like it is. It's important to some people, and PD did seem to imply that this would be a more developed feature than it is in the release. I think you are kind of working backwards here from "it makes the game look bad" to "so it must not be an important feature and only whiners would complain about it".

i hate to say it but i see freshseth83's point. not everybody has been playing GT since 98. maybe out there, there is a 14years old kid that was only 9 when GT4 came out. PD has to catch and reel em in. kid probably has never driven a real car in real life. BUT i also see the other side. as i posted before the version 1.00 DOESNT HAVE online play. what the heck is that?!? have to DL and install 1.01?! to go online?!
as for my opinion on damage and realism... GT has a long way to go. 2-3 lap races what series on earth, no matter how amateur, has a 2 or 3 lap? why on earth would you even start a 3 lap race with a FULL TANK of gas? we can nit-pick all day. personally even in GT4 if i lost my focus and crashed above 50mph for whatever reason i would exit the race and take the lose. there arent too many cars that finish a race after an accident like that. thats how i played. of course i want full damage even at experience lvl-0. but this is what we got. im not impressed by anymeans. but its still an improvement and i WONT EVER be caught dead playing forza, or a 360.

Hey, you'll get damage later. Like above, this isn't really the game for destruction. In fact, if you're a good, clean driver, you won't damage the car. Instead of running amok into walls in Veyrons or whatever you're driving, drive smooth and clean. Let the damage come to you.

maybe out there, there is a 14years old kid that was only 9 when GT4 came out.

That would be me, sir.

You have to remember, at the end of the day, GT is a video game, and so there are many video gaming standards. Most people would not want to play beginner stages with 50 lap races.

God forbid you play on a 360 you might become ill. Or even forza for that matter.

U might microsoft is a terrible company to give money to. They lack innovation for a company so massive. They rely solely on third party development, relying solely on money earned from their ONE lightning rod in windows, to purchase and bribe devs to make third party exclusives and timed DLC. At least Nintendo and Sony have big first party development, and sony is always at the forefront of moving tech ahead, now with bluray, 3d.

I swear I'll form a militia group bent on ridding the world of the word soon, and if anybody asks why I did it, you tell them the blood is on GT's hands... :grumpy:

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! they said this game was going to exceede our expectations.... damn right it did.. i expected there would be SOME flaws but damn this game is FULL of them for a friggin game that took 8yrs to make. their neglect exceedes my expectations. POLYPHONY DIGITAL!!!!! LISTEN TO YOUR FANS! BEFORE YOU LOSE THEM!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if your expectations were as exaggerated as this.

Easy to say "you don't really want damage, you shouldn't be crashing your car anyway". But if I race online and everyone around me are driving like idiots, I sure as hell want their cars to be damaged.

It doesn't bode well that they merely "hope" to introduce damage later though.

Well, I took the Ford Focus WRC car on the Indy track and got it all smashed up like the eiger video that first showed the really good looking damage. I even had a piece of the car fall off. Also, the car kept pulling to the right...and left sorta. It just wouldn't drive straight anymore, AND the car could barely get over 90mph.

So there is actually some sort of mechanical damage already. Albeit very limited. It only took about 15 minutes, though that is really still unrealistic considering i took a good couple of hits at over 100mph to get it like that. If PD could somehow just allow the process of damage to be sped up, and at least give regular premiums the type of damage race car premiums have, then we might have a winner on our hands. One can hope.
