That was tire smoke and we have no evidence showing that that video was from the final build.

Tire wear is nothing new, I used to play daytona on sega saturn and it had tire wear, the old GTs had tire wear. It probably technically is mechanical damage but it's being dishonest to say "look tire wear! Mechanical damage delivered as promised."

Of course it's from the final build. I've seen atleast 3 videos and one was a NASCAR race and another one at the cape ring. ..

plus it looks really nice. Can't wait to play my Copy soon:)

I haven't seen those vids, still tire wear really isn't anything special.

I'm stoked too man, only 5 more hours!

Um, no one taking up my offer?

I think most of the conflicting results we're seeing is because some of them come from crashing STANDARD cars (STUPIDITY right there), and the rest are because they're all using different premiums.

Using ONE premium with different level drivers (gotta be diverse) would help us find out if this "progressive" damage does or does not exist.

'it will come later' ... GT6? ? ..Im am annoyed at the continued deception we're falling prey to..

Deception?

PD promised damage, and they gave it to us. You're not satisfied, and they say an improved system will come soon. That's not deception.

The only thing that exist is evolution.
Never forget that.

That's not what he said at all. It's not possible to tell what he meant.

I'm certainly leaning towards there being some deception, how is it that we haven't heard one story of a person encountering mechanical damage? It's release day and we just don't know, the devs know we don't know and they're being jerks about it. Simple as that.

Lot of fanboys here who can't seem to read between the lines. I'm a fanboy of many thingf, glocks, GT, toberlone etc. but I know when I'm getting pissed on and I know when it's raining. This sure doesn't feel like rain...

By the way there is some massive damage on split screen on eiger k trailer with rally cars. By the end of the race my car had no doors on bonnet and had rolled two times and my brothers had roller three times and had no boot or doors. It looked so good, but the damage on single players has been unimpressive to say the least.

Wow nice punchline.Didn't expect that.

However PD promissed damage so we'll see and feel damage. Just bepatient.

Okay, I guess in legal english terms, we havnt been deceived. But honestly, we all expected mechanical damage like the 'competition'. So, if they turn around and say tyre damage is technically the only mechanical damage they implemented.. , Will you still say we werent deceived? They said a thousand cars.., after a few years we learn about a two tier standard/premium lineup. Honestly, were we ever told the honest truth with no strings attached? Im loving GT, its 12am now, been playing for the last 12 hours! But.. The truth is the truth.

So how damage in online races work? If there is no mechanical damage in online races then I think we shouldn't expect much in single player either...
And it's really weird no one in reviews experienced damage, while I am sure they was in contact with Sony / PD and got all informations served.

Thank you for this information. We can expect to test damage in online races I guess:)

If they made a slider for physical & cosmetic damage just like they did for abs, traction control etc... everybody would have been happy!

Assuming that actual, realistic and naturally occurring (ie., not having to smash a Rally car up for an hour to see results) damage is actually in the game.

No other developer would leave people this in the dark about such a big feature.

I love GT and have been waiting for this game for so long but right now it's feeling a bit dated. It doesn't pain me to say it because I'm not such a fanboy that I can't give Forza any credit, but it's definitely pulled ahead of GT in a lot of aspects.

This isn't enough for 5 years of development by any means.

Agreed, this is the PS3 flagship title, something is not right, i think the difficulty in coding for the PS3 has come back to haunt Sony again, this if nothing else has hurrt the PS3, along with being expensive the first few years.

The idea is to adjust how quickly/hard a car is damaged.

They've obviously managed to include very good looking damage. Surely making it visible more quickly (or giving us the opportunity to arrange it ourselves) can't be very complicated?

how much time I have to repeat myself, there is NO damage in the final build... just arcade type COSMETIC deformation, but NOTHING that really have some bad consequences on your driving/handling/behavior of the car. Sure you can total the car like in any type of arcade racer, but your car still keep her full potential nonetheless = this is not damage!

Are you joking? patches are the norm these days..

How is it after 5 years game feels rushed, patching DAMAGE? A major feature in? LOL.

Patching bugs and stuff is the norm, patching in a feature prominently advertised post-release is not. Did bfbc patch destructible buildings in afer release? Of course not, they delivered on their promise up front.

That just speaks volumes about PD and the obvious issues they had with development, but, it has happened in many games before, Gt5 is NOY the first.....

Its Obvious IMO, that they found development on Ps3 difficult.

Yeah, I get that (if it's in fact true and not BS like a lot of what I've been hearing from the devs lately), but what's the point of that?

Give novices the option to turn damage on or off at the beginning, or perhaps a slider to give vary degrees of damage. Why FORCE (again, if it really does become more realistic as you progress) this on us?

What game has ever done that and WHY would they think that it's a good idea?

Doing this, coupled with not explaining how it works can only, as we've seen, get THEM in trouble since people have no idea how extensively it's been implemented in the game, they won't tell us, and oh...you won't be able to see it until you get to the highest level of the game.

Being first party they were probably among the first to receive their PS3 dev kits ... maybe 6 or more years ago now? ... With all the other dev tools that will have been shared they really have no excuses for not getting to grips with the PS3!

I honestly could give a s*** less about their development problems.

They made a promise and couldn't deliver, they weren't and still aren't up front about it and all of us who dropped $60 expecting one thing now have no clue what to expect.

They are a company, I am a consumer. That's the extent of the relationship.
