The Eliminati

Well, I got to win one. Literally, my first one after...well, didn't checked the stats, but I got the Mercury just before this one so...good enough for me anyway!

That first win is always satisfying.

You're doing a better than me. I'm at win #35 out of 268 games.
Most, if not all of my wins are just lucky wins. Maybe that luck will turn around someday. However we are still far far from that monster with 700 games and 300 wins.
The only skill I really improved with the Eliminator is map knowledge. I know almost every houses, tunnels and bridges location even when hidden behind trees or hills.

The Mini Raid has one significant advantage in that it doesn't really lose any speed when plowing through obstacles. I've won more than a few head to head races with it for that reason since my opponent would get slowed down quite a bit more trying to blast through rock walls and fences.

I wouldn't keep it any longer than you have to, but in the early stages it's got its uses. It's notably better than the 6x6 at least.

I quite like the Mini Raid. It's not got great top speed, but it doesn't tend to slow down much, and it has the torque to pull itself up the steep hills. However, for me, where it's at its best is in jumping: it lands beautifully. Certainly the best jumper in the class.

Anyway, a couple more wins for me recently. The Hoonigan Escort really is "God Mode".

Oh, and is it just me who thinks that the Funco F9 buggy is like Bambi on tarmac?

I'll put in the screencap later, but I got only my third level 10 car last night. It was Isha's Taxi, and I got my first win in a level 10 car with it.

A few recent successes...

I got an award for "Winning an Eliminator without collecting a Loot Car" last week. That was a good one because I got to a Level 10 car purely through eliminations, then took out the overall win.

I discovered that the timeout bar runs out REALLY quickly if you exit the arena too early in the Final Showdown countdown. And it really pays to keep an eye on where you are in the map. The number of races I've won (not just head to head but overall) by knowing the map and how to avoid obstacles like Derwent Water is getting quite out of hand!

@CVPI93 I've been thinking of those four in a row wins, and that's just insane. Obviously there's skill involved, especially map knowledge. But there are so many things you can't control, like car drops, other players, where the final destination will be, etc. So getting four in a row is nearly impossible. Good job.

@GilesGuthrie Yeah, that final arena will only give you five seconds outside it before you're eliminated. But you can also anticipate that. If you haven't used up any of your outside-the-arena meter, you can time your final drive to leave the arena just under five seconds early and that can often be the difference. Also, winning the game in a level 3 Lancia is very impressive. I've already won with the level 1 Mini, so now I'm trying to win with every level 2 car. So far my only success has been with the Jaguar Mk II.

Little bit a miss opportunity with those "cop" cars. Not sure if they fit right in the Eliminator. Also a lot of them are just not fit for off-road.
However have some nice wins lately. Had a good final race in the Bugatti. I don't like the car but it is OP on asphalt. The other guy had the NSX. He tried everything to block me. Too bad the Bug weight a ton more than the Acura so it was useless. He ended in a tree after I got annoyed.
Wanted to share a screen but I failed with the capture so here's a nice pic of a door from another win.

Got another cop win with the Camarro. It was a lucky win since I never left the tarmac. This car is awful off-road.

Love when they add cars, but I do have this feeling of things being rushed. The Imp, the Crown Vic and the Impala fits right while the Camarro, the BMW and the Alfa 4C are just terrible for this mode. Except when you have the finish line straight ahead on the road.

I don't mind the 4C actually. It feels lightweight (like it should).

I've had mixed results with the Merc GT-R, although I won with it last night, at 166mph blowing by a Ford Ranger that was stuck at its 120mph limit. The Veyron is comfortably the worst level 10 car in the game now, IMO.

Trying to win with level 2 cars means I'm losing A LOT of head to heads and final races. But it's still fun to try. Especially like when I won in a Hillman Imp against the level 6 Subaru rally car. Which I did.

I don't mind the 4C ether. I really meant the Merc sls. Still don't remember why I put the Alfa there.
What I wanted to say is that with a little tune those cars could be really fun. They did tune the Regalia properly. It also shouldn't take much time to prepare them for the Eliminator.
And good luck @Populuxe Cowboy with your lv2 challenge. The guys out there are pretty aggressive. I also see a lot of lv5, 6 and 7 spawns. A lv5 win is already hard. So much for a lv2.

I was wondering the other day whether the spawn rate for L6 and L7 has gone up recently?
Not sure but I do have this feeling they tweaked the spawns. Maybe not right at the start but once the first circle close the new spawns will have more high lv cars.

 <- my face when I burst through the trees at more than 100mph, see that my opponent has hit a tree right before the finish line, which has turned him sideways into my path, whereupon I hit him so hard I push him over the line for the win 🤬🤬🤬🤬

I got my very first level 10 drop car last night, a trophy truck. And then I came in last in the final round.

What is everyone's strategy? I start on the outside of the map and move in only as necessary. I rarely have to race head to head. Especially in the final arena shrink, I stay way out near the arena wall, wait until there is about 30 seconds to go before the final wall shrinkage, and then make my way into the final arena. It cuts way down on people trying to race me.

That first Eliminator win is proving to be very tough to get....not sure how many I have competed in but I am Level 19 if that's any indication..probably 30 or 40 maybe? I have had, I believe, 4 second place finishes and half a dozen 3rd places....one I almost won...was less than a KM from the finish line until my car decided to tip over at the smallest bump and reset me 🤬 I find that the game always puts immovable trees in my way to stop me from winning.

On the plus side, I have managed to luckily find a level 9 and level 10 car (once for each)....the 10 was a Hoonigan Ford of some description a month ago...level 9 yesterday was a Corvette police car thing. Also noticed some new cars in the event yesterday (probably been in for weeks and just never noticed )....was pleasantly surprised to see my favourite off-road vehicle, the Halo off-road thing, in it

Edit: Turns out I have taken part in 32 (could've sworn it was higher!) and taken part in 15 final showdowns so hat's a pretty good stat for me. Almost won another this morning....was chasing down first, they hit a tree and reset...so, obviously, I then hit a tree and got beaten by 100m :(

I try to memorise as many of the car drop sites as possible. I vary my initial location between the festival site, mudkickers, the gardens, and the airstrip

I keep an eye on everyone else's car drops. Usually I'm either "generally ahead" or "generally behind." E.g. if loads of people are in 4, 5 or 6 cars, and I'm in the Mini, then I'm behind. Whether I'm ahead or behind determines whether I act as a hunter or a hider.

Once the arena has shrunk to the smallest size I look at where it is on the map, so I can try to guess the final destination. I'll decide where it's going to be, and head there. If I'm right, then Happy Days. If I'm wrong, I'll course-correct and go like hell.

In general terms, learn where the immovable walls are, especially the ones around Edinburgh. And when you're racing try to stay on flat ground as much as you can - it's frequently better to drive around elevations than it is to go through.

I am now part of the Eliminati

Finally managed to win one at the 39th attempt! And the game still tried to stop me winning...there was a bridge just before the finish line (the gravel road to the side of the dam) and I was airbourne, hit the top of the bridge at an angle and it spun me round...ended up winning by reversing my Quartz Regalia across the finish line  Seemed quicker than trying to turn it round

Wow...a day after my 1st win and I get my 2nd :boggled: Almost lost it 1Km from the line as I got rolled and reset, had a level 10 car take the lead (versus my lvl 5 Macan) but they went the wrong way (was the gravel roads to the South of, is it Glenn Rannoch or whatever), and they couldn't get there.

I've been really snakebitten lately. I've been in contention for the win, taken an unfortunate bounce and rolled the car within half a mile from finish. Then car gets reset quarter-mile further back and I eventually end up losing by few yards. It's happened a handful of times over past week or so, but I'm sure my luck has to change.

I know the feeling...so disheartening. Keep at it and your luck will change....I had half a dozen of those races but have now won 4 in 3 days.

Speaking of wins, as said, here is number 4, on my 50th Eliminator game....done with the Level 3 Crown Vic :odd: To be fair, a Level 5 car was on for the win till they hit a tree

Oh you had to rub it in, didn't you?:lol::lol: The way things are going, I can't but laugh. Getting bumped by another car within 100 yards from the finish and losing a head-2-head and missing out on a Level 10 car. With that said, I lost final elimination fair and square in Level 5 RAM to a Level 10 Mercedes.

I've had a string of bad luck recently, most of it of my own doing. Hitting three separate trees in one final race isn't going to win me any Eliminators. Then last night I was in a level four Supra when I can across a level 6 Audi as the final arena was closing. It was just outside the circle but I thought I could grab it before the arena stopped moving. I was wrong. Not only that, but I finished fourth meaning there were only three cars left in the final.

I started on the Eliminator tonight, played two, came 3rd the first time after spending most of my time in the final race in 8th and 2nd in the second. Managed to bag a lv10 Aventador off of some cocky guy who'd followed me through the race I did before, beat him easily in a 959... In the final race I leapfrogged over someone to take 1st about 300 yards out but lost out to a Ford Ranger trying to drive up a muddy hill.

Rinse, wash, repeat. At least the game is consistent in ways it keeps screwing me over.:lol::lol: Right now I'm not giving a hoot whether I win or not. I just keep participating and collecting car drops to tick off achievements. There are couple of achievements (Underdog and Heads Up) that I may not be able complete, though.

Yeah, there's no sense thinking about the Eliminator you just lost. Tee the next one up and crack on.

For every time you blow by someone in a car much faster, there will be a time when you're passed by someone in a slow car as you're in the process of having a massive accident.

Just last night, in a final eliminator, I was in the Lvl 6 RS4. Out in front for km after km, an AMG GT-R came by me like I was in reverse. "Fair enough," I thought. And indeed it was, because he hit a stream at an odd angle and rolled on the way out. I was able to maintain most of my speed, and head on to take the win.
