Awesome!! I hope you have a wheel, because this game is meant to be played with one. It's tricky to set everything up the first time, but once you've got everything, it's a blast! And then there is the modding... But that's a different story đź‘Ť
:) I would have thought setting up the wheel and FFB would be easier for a truck game than most race sims.
Got a CSR so that will be fun, i read it's a very relaxing game. I already cruised around in FH2 enjoying the scenery on the 360 version so i guess i will enjoy the cruising in this game too. Also it seems you can have real life internet radio play in your truck that changes from country to country when you cross the border?

And are there virtual prostitutes? A truckers game must have virtual prostitutes surely?

You can have internet updated radio stations but they don't change from border to border AFAIK. Jut press R in game and choose a radio station. I mainly listen to Radio XS Manchester.

There are mods that add more radio stations but there's plenty of variety in the default ones. You can choose favorites , then scroll through those while driving. You just need to assign keys / buttons to do so. Don't forget to assign volume controls too so you can turn it up when a good song comes on !

My personal favorite is EKR Rock Radio which is in the game by default. They occasionally give shoutouts to ETS2 players haha :D

Always better to have your own music. looking around now for more MP3's i can add to my music folder. Started playing today and gotta say i like it a lot. Cruising on the highways with time and weather accelerated so it doesn't become tedious works well.

First time parking was tricky though, spend like 20 minutes trying haha, if that would have been real life i would have made an arse of myself down at the depot :D
Do you guys also use birds eye view for parking?

The parking is the hardest at the beginning, but then it becomes natural. I can do it all with only the rear view mirrors now. I do kind of cheat though since I always try to leave my truck as straight and parallel to the parking spot as possible. Jack-knife parking as still a bit more of trial and error.

Amazing Scania V8 sounds on an updated mod from the one and only Kreichbaum! Just replaced the previous "Open Pipe V8" mod with the new one. Gosh... this guy should work for PD. Just compare the vanilla Scania sounds with his, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

My Scania R730:

I suck at parking. I just cheat and press enter (well, I have it mapped to X on my DS4) everytime.

I found that just placing a shortcut in the radio folder to your music folder will allow you to play all the music without copying everything over. (ETS2 plays a few file types, so not all music files can be played.)

I'm an EKR listener too. Began in the game, ended up downloading their app for my phone.

Speaking of radio stations, am I the only one listening to Euro Truck Radio? I'm not entirely sure why but I kind of like it. :P

ps. Found a 60 degree FOV mod through youtube, works the best for a single screen as you can still see part of the mirror but it doesn't look like you ride in the back seat anymore.

I tried it but the music was not to my taste. I love older stuff and EKR delivers !

On parking: One of my favorite parts of the game ! I only use external view on the most difficult jobs. I use track ir so its easy to look around and use the trucks mirrors to see where I am but as Husky said , setting up for an easy reverse in is the key. That's not cheating Husky , that's smart đź‘Ť

During one of the latest updates, I started to notice that when using reverse it had a 1 next to it, which I thought was a bit strange. I then started to use "real automatic" transmission, where it changed to R1, R2, R3 and R4. It started to annoy me, that us with H-shifters didn't have the ability to use the extra 3 reverse gears, but I couldn't figure out how to change it until today. I figured out the right code, with some help, and surely enough, it enabled R2, R3 and R4 for my TH8, as you can see in this video I made:

I think it'll work on G25/G27/Fanatec and/or custom made shifters as well, but I don't know for sure. I'll gladly post the final gearbox-file here if anyone wish to have it though. :D:tup:

I don't think I'd make that good of a truck driver. Quite often I find myself veering into the lane either side by accident. Not noticing until I get a 300 fine.

I remember one time I forgot about speed cameras and went into a roundabout at 60MPH. The end result was not pleasant...

I remember a while back when I was turning into a corner and the genius AI felt it necessary to challenge my right of way and turned into the corner with me from the opposite side.

And by "a while back" I mean last week, and the resulting anger and crash-fest are immaterial. The AI is stupid and makes me want to commit bloody murder and yet I don't want it fixed.

...Don't even get me started on how they charge through roundabouts. :grumpy:

Tut tuut, you should have watched your mirrors better haha. So far I find them quite smart and realistic (people drive like a'holes in real life too). For example when I needed to enter the highway and I ran out of entry road, one that drove on the right lane even stopped so I could drive on it. I waved my virtual hand from the window to thank him :)

Sm—sma.... (realistic I can agree with) I can't even say that without twitching! You haven't been playing this very long, have you? :P

I have seen a Mercedes (irony) try to pass me when when going up a hill, and it crashed head on into a hatchback going the opposite direction. No deaths reported.

Had the same situation yesterday on a country road, but when the car behind saw a truck coming around the corner in the opposite direction he cancelled the move and went behind me.

Yes I have seen travel cancel the moves on passing your truck. It is entertaining when you force a car to pass you and keep causing it to fall back in line behind you. I have one episode where it went on for 20 minutes. I kept gaining speed so he couldn't pass or traffic was coming.

Trucking Tip #5,007: Don't overtake another semi on a 1-lane country road in a Scania with a trailer.

They did a great job with Nynäshamn, it looks exactly like I remember it!

Been there. Done that. Gives you one heck of a adrenaline rush!!! Better yet, doing it in the old 350HP Mercedes Benz 1632 V10 that can hardly keep up with traffic. At least the Scania picks up speed and handles like a sports car :P

Beautiful truck, by the way. Slow as heck, heavy as a brick of iron, but indeed beautiful...

I found a little software that lets you make custom shifter layouts. I've made a custom Eaton Fuller 18 speed (ranged and split), with it's real-life pattern. I also made the Road Ranger 10 Speed.

While driving my American rigs with EF trannies, you can even pre-select low's, high's and range without letting go of the gas. It only changes when you let go of the gas and hit the clutch. I wish I could make a video of me shifting the gears.

Unfortunately the game only let's you save one custom Range, one Splitter and one Range/Splitter. So I can't really make realistic shift patterns for other gearboxes in the game without having to erase the files and doing them again.

Check this thread in the official SCS forums. That little tool can change the way you play the game and take it to a whole new level of immersion. It's tricky to use, but once you go through the learning curve, you can create your own shift patterns. http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=120397

I mostly used the Scania but since the Mercedes Actros got officially added that is all I have used.

I've been playing this a bit lately and been wondering... Is it possible to have your company drivers do work while you're not on the road yourself? They seem to be driving only when I am driving. That is too much driving for me to do. :grumpy:
