Hello, and welcome to the FIA Gran Turismo Test Series thread!

This is a discussion thread regarding the respected events, where you'll find daily race information and read about GTPlanets users feedback on the races. As you all probably know by now, you'll score points in all races, and for each season only the top three races' points will matter.

The FIA GT Championship has kicked off, and as you know it has two branches. One for the Nations Cup and one for the Manufacturer series. Races are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Do you have any questions regarding the races, want to meet up and practice with fellow GTP members? Discuss this here!

With this said, what are your strategies? Which manufacturer did you choose? Do you plan on changing manufacturer for the different seasons or stick with one? Do you plan to race for your countrys fame and glory? Maybe you want to participate in both? Or is one enough?

Me, I’ll sign for Nissan, since I’m loyal to that manufacturer in real life as well.

I digress. Let’s hear those thoughts! I’d love to hear your afterthoughts after the races as well. What went right, what went wrong, what could YOU do different next time?

Also, be sure to tell us your rankings!

Without further ado, here's the races for Season 1:

Nations Cup

R1, 06.20.18 -
Gr.1 at Circuit de la Sarthe
R2, 06.23.18 - Gr.3 at Kyoto Driving Park - Yamagiwa
R3, 06.27.18 - RB X2014 Jr. at Autodromo Nazionale Monza
R4, 06.30.18 - Gr.4 at Autodrome Lago Maggiore - GP

Manufacturer Series

R2, 06.23.18 - Gr.4 at Tokyo Expressway - East Outer Loop
R3, 06.27.18 - Gr.4 at Dragon Trail - Gardens

I signed with Porsche, as I quite like the 911 RSR. The Cayman has been fun to drive too but it can’t really keep up with the faster Gr.4 cars.

For the Nations Cup I'm forced to race with the United Kingdom as I'm a resident here. I'd like to race for Ireland but that's not possible sadly.

Are you allowed to change setups on the Manufacturers Cup? Gonna sign a contract today.

Wavering between Audi, AMG and Porsche. Or I could go completely left-field and choose Bugatti.

Going with Ferrari but Italia or La? Suggest please.

Aren't there difference in those cars?

How will this work. Can anyone tell please.

Hi,

signed Porsche. Love the RSR, it is fast and stable. No idea how the Cayman feels like, didn't drove it so far.

Wasn't the first round of the manufacturers cup at Suzuka an GT4-Event? Since today it's GT3.

cheers,
D.

I've had my F-Type V8 R for 2 months now so it feels natural to go with Jaguar and race the hell out of that F-Type! <3 Racing for Switzerland in the Nations Cup!

EDIT : Even though it was written in the first message, I just noticed that they indeed changed the calendar (didn't see any notification) and I had to rejoin the Jaguar team. Not sure at all how I'll manage to handle a week full of races... I had no issue with a weekend race but EVERY single day... Seems like a stretch!

Maybe this is only for the "Test Season"? Does anyone know how these events are organised anyways? Practice, Qualifications + Race? What's the race duration? Etc...

Last I checked tuning is restricted. Check OP for race information :)

Practice and qualification is already open, at least for tomorrows events. Check OP, will update race information.

Saturday 4th November will mark the beginning of the Championship Test Season, where an overall winner will be determined according to points gained in a race series.

The following Championship races will be held:

■ FIA GT Nations Cup
This is a Championship in which you compete for your country and region. Each player will represent their country or region in this series.

■ FIA GT Manufacturer Series
This is a Championship in which you compete for your favourite car manufacturer. Players will sign up for a driver contracts with their favourite brand and race with provided cars.

[Championship Test Season Overview]
・ To participate in the “FIA GT Manufacturer Series”, please select first a manufacturer of your choice and sign up as their driver in Brand Central;
・The Test Season will run on a weekly basis, with each season starting on Sunday and lasting until the next Saturday. There will be no races held on Wednesdays. (As an exception, the very first season starting on 4th November will begin on Saturday 04/11 and end on Saturday 11/11;)
・Players will gain points according to their race results. The results for Season 1 will be determined according to a point system, where the final score will be calculated taking into consideration the points earned from the 3 best results out of all races participated in;
・Both Championships will have identical events hosted 5 times a day. Players may only enter and participate in just one (1) of these races per day;
・Please be aware that during the Test Season there is a possibility that the Championship schedule and rules may be changed at any given time.

Do you race against only cars from your manufacturer, or do all manufacturers race against each other?

Does anybody knows how the FIA races are set? Are we racing people with same nationality and same manufacturer?

How can a manufacturer/country win if you race against all the «same»?
No, the way I understand it, per race there will only be one person from each country (so, no ten germans and four british and a few from the rest of the Euro region) in the Nations Cup and only one manufacturer on the grid in the Manufacturer Series. (No 8 GT-Rs and 6 Sciroccos and a few others).
There will most likely be like this, only be one of each.

So far Porsche is in the lead! I don’t blame you guys; the 911 RSR is a good vehicle and the Cayman is exceptionally fun to drive.

I've signed with Honda. I really enjoy how the NSXs drive and they both seem to have pretty good pace overall.

Don't the last races on Tuesday clash with the silly maintenance period?

From http://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gtsport/news/00_8469818.html
【Daily Championship Race Hosting Hours (PDT)】
■FIA GT Nations Cup Test Season 1
Round4:7 November, 2017, (Tuesday) 18:00、19:00、20:00、21:00、22:00
■FIA GT Manufacturer’s Series Test Season 1
Round4:7 November, 2017, (Tuesday) 18:10、19:10、20:10、21:10、22:10
And from http://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gtsport/news/00_1452594.html
Every Tuesday, 22: 00 - Wednesday, 00: 00 PDT (05: 00 - 07: 00 UTC)

The window for races should start 2 or 3 hours earlier AND the maintenance window should be 2 or 3 hours later.
And if there is only going to be 5 available race slots per day, they should probably be at 2 hour intervals to give wider window of choice.

Maintenances are scheduled on every Wednesday, which is i think non champ day, so i think all is ok with this ^^ hope i am not wrong about

Once I get the game, I'll pledge my allegiance to Nissan because it's pretty much the unofficial make of Gran Turismo - Nissan sponsors GT Academy and Nissan had the largest library of cars in past Gran Turismo games. I know that's contrary to my username, so don't call me out for it.

How can it be 1 person from each country when Germany there are probably 10 germans for each portuguese, 20 british for each romanian, 10 french for each dutch? I don't think it will be one person from each country but that the total amount of points any Nation can get will be divided by the total number of participants from that country. I don't know, it's just my guess.

I've gone for Alfa, I just love the 4C Gr4 and Gr3. Nice and light, short wheelbase should suit my sloppy driving style on the short twisty tracks we only have thus far.

At least one nation have way too much players to spread across sessions with only one player/session, unless there are very few cars on the grid.

I have signed for Porsche for the Manufacturers series, car is amazing, driver sadly isn`t!

From what i understand setting are fixed apart from TC and brake balance, what brake setting do you all use?

Valid points. To me it just doesn’t make sense to see multiple people from the same country, but I guess we’ll wait and see - and find out shortly. Whichever the case, it’s going to be interesting!

Good luck in todays race, whether you participate in the Nations Cup or Manufacturer Series. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts after the race(s) are done. What worked, what didn’t, etc. :)

I went with Chevrolet. I had a hard time deciding between Porsche, Chevy, and Audi. I ended up testing both classes from each on 2 different tracks. I was most consistent with Audi actually. But, I'm an American, drive a chevy, and they are so fun to drive.

  • Btw, I'm a huge Porsche fan. But, seems Porsche is gonna be the popular one. So, why not be different? :D
