The Funny License Plate Thread

In America, we don't have a tradable plate registry. (Although maybe in the plate collector world there is?) Each state is different, but the ones that permit a vanity plate just costs an additional premium (usually around double) over a standard-issue serial number.

Wow double? in NM its $17 for two years.

There's somone north of the border with a 200+ hp Civic, running a nice, big rear anti-roll bar, coil-overs, and - you guessed it - a hefty dose of twin cam ric- I mean bolt-ons! Naturally, "VTEC YO1" or something close gets attention; too much.

Decent car, but I wouldn't drive it.

$17? It's over $80 for 1 year here in WA

For the record, vanity plates on the standard background is $30 additional per year. To have a non-standard, special design background (i.e. Washington Wildlife, Law Enforcement Memorial, Lighthouse, Universities, etc.) is another $30 additional. $80 is what you would typically pay for regular plate renewal AND custom plate number.

I saw one not too long ago on I want to say an Escalade that said "HEY BABY" or something along those lines on it.
