Knock yourself out. We got a whole library of "OAD"s elsewhere now. Perhaps you should consider the migrate :)

I watched Rebuild of Evangelion 1.11 & 2.22. 1.11 was one of the best films I have ever seen, 2.22... Not so much...

They are both amazing and should be seen by everyone. I hope to watch 3.0 next weekend. Need my Asuka fix.

Evangelion, Madoka Magica... Two series that has its own series, but is being retold in movies. One, what's the point, and two, why is it so appealing to many this way?

1. Profit!
2. Because fandom.

Oh come on! The last 10 minutes of 2.22 alone was so amazing.

So was EoE. It's to be expected.

The last ten minutes was amazingly entertaining, the rest was Rei trying to get Gendo and Shinji to have dinner together and Mary Illustrious Sue randomly turning up and selling merchandise...

Also, they shouldn't have made Shinkinami sympathetic just before Unit - 03 got Dummyfied. It actually made me feel a bit guilty about laughing at her plight, whereas it would have just been downright enjoyable to watch Soryuu go through that.

ALSO, TASTE THE RAINBOW!

That's what a good story does IMO - it makes you feel sympathy, or at least understand most (if not every) characters in the story. Gendo might be an absolute bollocks, but at least NGE and Rebuild have shown how he became a bollocks.

Oh, and at least spell her name right.

Whoa one letter mistakenly put in makes an incredible difference doesn't it now. O_O

I need to watch more anime. Really should get Railgun S started, but one thing I know I will watch no matter what when it comes around is monogatari S2. That is a series I am hooked on.

I don't think good characters have to be sympathetic, relatable, or likeable; I think they have to be believable. I personally strongly disliked Soryuu as a character, a least until there was more exposition towards the end, when she went from narcissistic jerk to a PTSD sufferer whom takes their troubles out on others. But it is her very unlikeability that makes her a good character, often for comedic purposes, sometimes for dramatic ones, but always in a way one could actually imagine, or may even have known, 14 year olds to act. (Seriously, who didn't know some git like Asuka when they were in school?)

Shikinami, meanwhile, is made fairly likeable, but not likeable enough that one would actually want her to keep in Shinji's way for too lang. Also, the film seems to suddenly shovel a lot of character development onto her before suddenly activating the dummy system on her, without giving her anywhere near enough beforehand. It feels rather forced.

Perhaps that's why 2.22 suffers. It lacks the original's focus on character development. Actually, let me rephrase that. It moves all of the character development onto AYANAMI while putting very little focus on any of the others, not least Mari Sue, who just turns up, defeats some kind of angel, parachutes chest first into Shinji before sniffing him, steals an Eva, uses her German made Dragon Ball to up it's power level to OVER 9000, does something else, and then sells some merchandise to obsessive fans.

I thought Gendo was the most relatable character... No... Wait... That's Aoba... Scrap that... Maya... No... Kaworu. Definitely Kaworu. Or Haruhi. Haruhi is the most relatable NGE character. Wait. Wrong series. Kaworu it is then.

Anyway, I kind of want to watch 3.33 when it comes out, but part of me couldn't care less... I'm conflicted.

In other anime news, I'm hearing reports of a Grave Of The Fireflies / My Neighbour Totoro double bill coming to western cinemas soon. :embarrassed: I hope they're gonna show it with subs!

Madoka? I have no clue why it's being made into a movie.

NGE? Maybe because Anno wasn't quite able to tell the story he wanted (not saying the rebuild movies are either) and the show is insanely popular and the movies are guaranteed money. Remember, shows/movies/everything are made to make money. Honestly, I was worried when the Rebuild movies were announced but I am enjoying them so much. I haven't watched 3.0 yet, but I am sure it's going to be great as well.

The 3rd madoka movie is a sequel, the 1st two are recaps with a few redone scenes for those who haven't watched the show to be able to dive into the 3rd movie.

Well, I mean, it won't stop me from watching these movies (especially NGE, as it is AFAIK a retelling of the entire story). It just sort of confused me, is all.

There is also this theory, that they're sequels.

That would be a way to justify it to people, yes.

I believe it's a way to make money, which is why everything is made. And I will gladly throw all of my money at more NGE product.

Well, it's hard to do that when you've burned through your budget 2/3 of the way through the series. :P

I'd ruin your avvy

What the hell.....

Anyway, 3.33. Amazing. I was soo busy drooling at the animation there were times that i may have missed plot. But man it was wonderful.

And yea, this seems to def be a sequel to the original, IMO.
