All it needs is to be pretty and have one or two loveable characters. The two things P.A Works knows how to do best. Maybe some emotional character stuff too.

Thing is, the shows they animate tend to not have spectacular stories.

They aren't completely awful, but nowhere near Madoka-level.

Angel Beats, Another, Hanasaku Iroha, Tari Tari are just a few to name... Plus their settings are generally plain being school grounds.

The thing that sucks is that I really want that game but I heard it's terrible.

I wouldn't expect anything good from something like Neptunia. A show would probably be the best route. It delivers better visuals anyway (2D anime > 3d anime), and that's all that really matters if you know what I mean.

This. It puts a kind of twisted look on the show. Also, that is a very sad truth, that actually decent anime don't often get more than one season.

Plenty of those haven't sold well in the past. To my knowledge series like these based off of 4koma (With an exception being K-On!-a very big one) don't really ever sell well.

Not every SOL "moe show" will sell. Plenty of bombs out there.

Because most sane people would drop that crap after one episode.

But to expound on the point I was making... for something to be truly slice-of-life, it has to be realistically balanced between the bitterness and the sweetness of life. Not only does it need to be balanced, but it needs to be understated since life is a lot more mundane than most works of fiction, generally speaking. Life isn't adorable moeblobs acting over-the-top adorable 24/7.

A flawless example of a perfectly slice-of-life anime would be the film Only Yesterday. In fact, it's arguably the only anime I've seen that's legitimately "slice-of-life".
