@SVX what surprises me the most is that you actually got someone to watch NGE AND EoE and they ate it all up.

That's an achievement in itself, I should send my stubborn people to you.

Well, it was @Yauma9 so I'm not really surprised. I had got a real life friend to watch it - but they were disinterested and found it boring. Yet the other shows I suggested, SAO and Railgun, were absolutely loved. Go figure.

As a joke?

I wanted to get them into anime (so perhaps they'd be more understanding to my interest), so I decided that I should really show them an anime that is catered to people like them.

Duly noted. You remember that time you were disappointed with one of my drawings? Yeah, even I felt bad about it ever since and still feel I should some day give you a better drawing at absolutely no cost as an apology

not an AF joke either.

Well thanks... you totally don't have to, though.

Make it an orgy with me, Misato, Haruko, Faye, Yuuko and Yukino please.

:P

Oh mangs, you guys really have to read Prison School. Despite the amounts of ecchi and perverted content, I'm at the point of sharing this with people who may be uncomfortable with exposed nipples in a book. Boobies aside, the characters keep me on my toes every chapter.

I'll chex it out.

Fact of life: Most people have crap taste and can't appreciate movies, anime, et cetera as anything more than mere entertainment. So if it's not immediately and constantly entertaining in a very basic way (action, comedy, totes adorbs moeblobs, pantsu), it's probably going to be a non-starter.

I think perhaps one way of breaking people out of their close-mindedness is to find a good movie or show with subject matter that particularly speaks to the person you're recommending it to. For instance, if somebody you know is really into rock music and/or plays guitar, maybe try recommending something along the lines of Beck. If they're into cars or racing, perhaps Initial D, Wangan Midnight or Capeta. Military buff? Try Zipang.

Yeah, I understand that, I'm even the exact same when it comes to movies (though I appreciate the high depth ones too). What surprised me is that NGE isn't really different. At the start, it's hardly a large contrast to high action shows such as Railgun. I would've thought the high action very early on would've captivated her, but I guess I was wrong.

Yeah, that's what I usually do - and got myself into anime through. Start of with what they know and slowly branch them out. I had got them to watch SAO as they liked video games - and Grisaia because to a non-coherent viewer it's incredible. NGE was more of that psychological stuff but it seemed it didn't work out.

Angeru Beatsu, yes... Good show.

The feels do hit hard. Though they got a bit greedy with the very last twist of the knife, which completely didn't work. But that's a lot more forgivable than, say, a major twist halfway through that completely doesn't work and has a severe negative impact on the rest of the show going forward. I'm totally not thinking of a very specific anime here, I'm just saying.

I thought the twist was quite effective. Nearly had me burst out in tears, but then, that can be said about the majority of the last episode. I don't know how, but the show just really resonated with me. Can't recall a movie or show to ever have had such a big impact on me as Angel Beats. Can't get the characters and their farewells out of my head.

The change in the ending where characters usually appear one by one, to disappearing in the order they did in the story is both brilliant and heartbreaking.

It just handles its message and theme so well, I think.

Specifically, I was thinking of...

The revelation that Kanade was the recipient of Yuzuru's heart transplant.

Kanade was already in the afterlife for a good while before Yuzuru got there, yet he died before her? That just doesn't quite add up.

I'm not too fuzzed about the timeliness of that. For all we know, regular time doesn't apply to the afterlife. Otonashi could've drifted between worlds before coming there, or perhaps it was fated by some higher power. We don't know how the afterlife works or what the rules are, nor are we supposed to. Instead, the overlying theme is what is important. At least that is how I see it.

I'm all for a little suspension of disbelief, but I feel that little detail was completely unnecessary and causes more trouble than it's worth.

Let me set the scene for you... I started watching Angel Beats to prove myself right, because I was annoyed at the praise it was getting when I was convinced it would be garbage. And generally, when somebody goes into something expecting to dislike it, it turns into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Yet I found myself watching the entire show in a single sitting. It was fantastic, the feels were connecting... And soon I was convinced that it could do no wrong. But as smitten as I had become with the show by the final episode, when that little twist dropped, I noticed the problem as immediately as someone notices a slap across the face.

Like, the show was doing so well until that point. It didn't need to twist the knife any further, the feels had already been felt plenty. It doesn't ruin the show, so I wasn't angry or upset about it... But my tears from all the feels turned into tears of laughter after that bombshell, it seemed so hilariously dumb to me.

TL;DR: Due to the logical jumps needed to make it work, it's the only feel in the entire show that didn't connect... And in fact it backfired. That, combined with the fact that it's a completely unnecessary detail, makes me feel the show would've been better off without it.

And so I finished His & Her Circumstances.

I must say that I really enjoyed this show purely because the romance and psychological analysis is better than some of the other romance shows I've seen out there. You could see there was a hint of NGE in the psychological aspect of the show with most of the characters. Oh and the characters were lovable, especially Yukino for me.

The only things that spoiled it for me though were the budget issues as well as the abrupt ending which left a sour taste in my mouth with an otherwise good show.

For my next watch I shall.....

Huh? What's that?

Oh that's a nice boat.

Finally ended my anime hiatus last night. Watched the Love Live OVA, which was basically some sort of weird context for the Music S.T.A.R.T!!, plus the music video. I think "It suddenly turned to night!" is the best work around of a plot hole I've ever seen. Song itself, though, is great:

Next is to watch S2, the movie, and finally do my thesis on Shinsekai. Then afterwards it's probably a rewatch of NGE and EoE, and I think Prison School? Someone suggested something for me to watch, but I've long forgot.

Also! Nico's VA, Sora Takui is coming to Akiba Fest, a local anime/cosplay con local to me at the end of the month. I'm working all my hardest to go.

Really? That is a shame...

In a world, there are many types of people. There are humans, and there are beings humans have exiled, Ajins as we know them.

One Ajin wants to get revenge on all humans for the brutal torture they've done to them. That is basically the driving force to this story.

PETA is watching you, furry lovers.

Funny that they direct their words towards Japanese animes... Shouldn't Equestria Girls be under fire as well for promoting the same values and sexualization of horse girls? You can't just aim your pistols at us and not expecting to overlook the others, PETA...

It actually enables it. Sexualising a cat girl in a Japanese animes actually causes an animal to be delivered to a creepshow and raped.

Dear god, I thought anime was bad, but this is beyond my wildest imagination. What has Japan done?
