You just don't appreciate the beauty of packaging for anime, whether it be the Japanese release, or the North American release.:grumpy:

Oh, dammit. I still need to get MvC3 UC. I had to cancel the pre-order to make room for Skyward Sword.

Quick, someone buy me it for Christmas. I'll give you $5.

I appreciate packaging of anything, I'm a freakin' design student obsessed with graphics and illustrations, who the hell do you think I am?
What I'm saying is, there's package designs out there that work so much better than packaging for media discs...

It's a weird design, but I'm sure you dirty fellas love it. :P
I like the armor, looks weird with heels, and whatever she's wearing just reminds me of either a synthetic sports material or what mentally insane people are wrapped in.

Enka Oudo Dai Shogun Hattori Kiriko Ninjya Ver.
Yamato - PVC/ABS - $136 USD

Well what is there you can do with packaging for anime? The only types of packaging really are amarays, thinpaks, amarays with flippers, stackpaks, steelbooks, and digipaks.

This is much nicer than prettying up a dvd box:

It says nothing, but you already know that the juice is banana-flavoured... no language barrier whatsoever.

Guilty Crown ep. 9:

First off, the episode I got totally had a Skyrim commercial lol.
I thought this episode was pretty damn good. Also did the things that Endlave shoot out remind anyone else of Scorpion?
TC, you're only thinking of its appearance. I'm talking about function and practicality which also dictates its appearance.

What Anime packaging is is a prettied up paper slip cover and plastic case, booklets and stickers... it's really just a dvd/br case holding discs, with a bunch of paper thrown in there...What relation does those stickers and prints have with the disc? Nothing, they're just perks. you don't need artwork to come with your movie on a disc....

So what makes the juice carton better than anime packaging? The packaging does more than just hold the the content; It eliminates the need to read what flavour it is (which eliminates any language barriers), it's appearance is outstanding and easily recognizable.. when you go buy things, you don't go up and read each name of the product in the aisle until you find the one you want, you usually will look for something on the packaging that's recognizable, in this case, a picture of the fruit flavour you want. No other packaging tries to transform the carton into the surface of the fruit itself, so before you even reach it, you'd have already noticed it.

Both can be great you know.

Also, did I ever forget to mention how much I love unboxing videos? I love seeing that packaging, the art, the disc art, and more. Two examples from this one guy I follow on YouTube.

I'm talking about the exterior. It wasn't simple.
How was it not simple?

You do know that without any cover art, or any art on the disc (Like not even any numbers.), it causes great confusion?

Try taking out all the slipcovers out of all your video games, and pretend there's no disc art at all. Will you really be able to tell what is holding what easily?

It was a chick holding a sword, that's not minimalistic design. Simple would be how the soul gem was in the Madoka picture, little design, but still cool looking.

A better example is 2.22's cover. It's just writing with a sexy box.

In the case of most things (I'm looking at you race cars), function always greater than form. However I think we've come as far as we can with disc case technology so now they get prettied up and come with little bonuses. People like that kind of stuff. I really don't understand what you're arguing about with this. Case in point (haha, get it?), my Transformers case transforms into Optimus Prime. Necessary? No. Badass? You betcha.

Ep. 22 of Bebop:
My lovely horse running through the - FIELD!

So, having only writing on it is what you consider having simple?

Sephy, TC claims I don't appreciate the beauty of package design and I'm stating something I know about package design he doesn't. He doesn't understand product design any further than the graphics portion.

Again, you're only thinking as far as the look of a packaging, I'm talking about the packaging itself....I'm just going to stop there because I feel you aren't ever going to understand what I'm getting at.

Ahhhhh, okay I see now. Disregard my post then, even though I am proud of it.

Is that not simple?

Besides, THIS is the type of simple I like:

👍 Elegant.

So, you think I don't know about what stackpaks and thinpaks do in terms of taking up less space, instead of having a bunch of singles?

Each packaging has advantages and disadvantages. Stackpaks while they save space are notorious for ruining discs because they spin on that spool all over the place, scratching up discs, and if you're not careful when taking out the discs, you could break them on the spot.

Digipaks are kinda cool, and can be spread out. However, they're kinda cheap, and are on cardboard. Steelbooks are very protective, but they cost more money to produce.

Regular amarays, they're very simple for storing the discs. Thinpaks, the thin version of these allows you to minimize space, however it comes with the price of it being able to break easier, and the discs falling out easier when opening up a thinpak.

Flippers, they allow you to fit more discs inside the case, but they can be a pain.

That is 🤬 sexy.
Yes it is simple.

I prefer the case that was next to it. Also, so you're saying you want ONLY simple that looks sexy?

"It looks great because it looks like it was made specifically for this."

Not trying to assume or put words into your mouth, but is that what you were trying to say?
