Today's mobile suit hails from the beginning of the series itself, Universal Century 0079, and is one of the Principality of Zeon's most successful and earliest prototype mobile armors; welcome the MAX-03 Adzam.
Zeon experimented with many concepts during the One Year War mobile armor and mobile suit alike. One of these concepts, the Adzam, based on the vintage G87 Luna Tank, was an experimental ground combat MA. Equipped with the untested Minovsky Craft system, the Adzam could levitate in the air for finite lengths of time courtesy of it's 8 VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) rotors. By way of defensive armament the Adzam was equipped with eight twin-barreled mega particle gun turrets, giving it 360-degrees of protection, similar to the Big Zam...albeit being far less powerful. It's second defensive weapon, a prototype of sorts, was the "Leader" weapon. This was an incredibly effective weapon, so much so it almost destroyed the RX-78-2; this weapon which was designed to overload a suits electronics and computer systems with electric plasma consisted of two parts: an explosive full of a conductive "dust" material, and a cage that covered the target in plasma.
While being incredibly effective, the Adzam saw defeat not only by the Gundam, but also by the 3rd Mobile Suit Team's leader, Matt Billy and his Ground Combat Gundam (RX-79[G]), and the White Dingo Team (a team of Ace pilots with badass GM's).
