The Great Project Cars Whinging and Crying Thread

You do know that some of the GTPlanet members here are or were buyers into the whole pre-alpha testing thing a few years ago, right?

also no Super GT makes me ultra salty

You can vent about the lack of Super GT. I would agree with you. I don't understand how "pre-alpha testing thing" leads to hatred. I'm looking forward to the game. I don't love it or hate it at this stage since I have not played it.

Scripted weather for career mode:(
From what i heard not sure this is true but if you start from karts you take the formula path and don't get any other contracts from other racing series like gt3, LMP, etc

Other than that that's all i got to complain about. Looking forward to the game.:gtpflag:

I hate Project CARS with a passion

Yuyuko (right?), I'm a bit confused about your posts outside WMD. You seem correct on WMD Portal, but then you made your "Reader Submission" to PRC and now this. If you have something to say to SMS, say it (on WMD). As soon as it is in a polite and respectful manner, you won't get any trouble.

-No Super GT.
-No DTM.
-No Nurburgring 24hr layout.
-No Macau.
-I can't find it in any Brazilian retailers.

Pcars looks like it will be the best racing experience on console, I'll probably forget about FM4, GAS & GT6 once I get my copy of the game.

There are some very suspect complaints in this thread that, well, aren't exactly problems, per se.

What am I talking about? I can't say. :P
Yes, I understand that being salty about the absence of Super GT in a "western" developed game is not exactly the most logical of complaints.

I hate Project CARS with a passion, but do your research pls. The RUF RGT-8 is powered by a V8, so of course it will not have a flat-6 engine sound. Also, a number of the events in Project CARS career mode are defined with time-based "distances".
Can I ask why you hate project cars?

Really? You sound mad that it's not made by a certain developer. That includes GT cars,60 Miata's, Skylines, crap sounds and doesn't include what was promised in the first place. Well we could ask SMS to model that developers track record and nah, they wouldn't be that stupid. Their "Western"

That's a real stretch for the typical "this isn't Gran Turismo" reaction to seemingly any criticism or question about the car selection in PCARS in this subforum... :odd:

I'd like to see Super GT cars too, and I haven't bought or enjoyed a Gran Turismo game in more than ten years. As I understood it, @YayoiGT2's comment referred to how racing game developers tend to favor cars from their own backyard, partly for logistical reasons (collecting data, recordings, etc.) and partly because their creative vision is framed by the culture around them. Gran Turismo is far from the only Japanese racing game with a uniquely Japan-oriented car list, or with JGTC/Super GT cars.

Since you've gone this far to call me out outside of the WMD forums, I'll answer.

I feel like the WMD Forums are that kind of place where I don't feel welcome at all voicing a dissenting opinion. Yeah, I realize here on GTP is an even worse idea since it's public and not private, but I feel more comfortable overstating my opinion in public than I do in private (most people would probably be the other way around). Yes, I know that doesn't make sense, but I'm stuck in my ways.

Exactly this. It was just me being a little salty, but not surprised at why my favorite series isn't in Project CARS. One can argue that Forza Motorsport was a western game and also included JGTC and later Super GT cars, but it's literally just a few cars and tracks in the big picture, similar to how Gran Turismo dealt with a lot of their series licenses.

How is it not a logical criticism?

All I'm saying is perhaps some of the issues mentioned in this thread are only being seen as such on the surface. ;)

Fair enough, but I just don't understand how you continue to help making a game that you dislike.

And btw, about that PRC article, you do realize that SMS can read that?

Why would I continue to help making a game I dislike? Probably because, yes, I don't agree with (or even outright dislike) some of the directions they've taken with Project CARS. However, it still fits my gaming needs better than its rivals does. Assetto Corsa is literally Track Day Simulator 2015, I'd be a rolling ball of wreckage (in a bad, not fun way) in iRacing, and Codemasters' offerings are either focused on subjects I am not interested in (their F1 games for example) or would be interesting, but I end up regretting the purchase of later due to strange design and execution choices (GRID Autosport).

I'm (trying to) help because I want to hate it less, at very least.

I'm aware of that, nothing is sacred on the internet and such. But Slightly Mad never confronted me on the incident, so I don't see why there should be drama over it now either.

That's really all I can say on the matter.

One thing that's bothering me looking at a few YouTube videos is the AI's pitting strategies during changeable weather. There was a video put up a couple of days ago from Fail Race and he went from last to 2nd in a few laps simply because the AI came into the pits for seemingly no reason; I've seen it in Chilisteak's career playthrough as well.

The pit lanes also look rather bare, and I hope they've fixed the issue of cars just ghosting through each other when they exit the pits.

Didn't knew this until now, bad move by SMS, they have a great weather simulation and they do this :(

Yes scripted weather in carreer.
In my opinion it is not such a bad point: carreer mode needs to be scripted to a certain level. It also allows the game to teach you tyre and weather management the way developpers thought it would make sense.
.... It also avoids gamers to have a "relaunch until sunny weather" option !

In addition to carreer mode, the game also gives the possibility to organise race week-ends with fully adjustable conditions (real or random weather).

On my side, I fnd that the HUD is the not the best thing SMS has developped. I think that it misses several important things:
- Throttle and brake indicators
- Tyre wear
- Type of tyre currently used (it may seem odd but I find difficult to be sure of which tyre compound I am using).

Before the race, there are also two option menus: car tuning and strategy. In both, you can modify tyre compound, tyre pressure and fuel. I find it very misleading and I am still not 100% sure of how both screens interract.

A whinging thread is made for whinging and yet there are still members telling other members to go to other sub-forums or saying their complaints aren't 'logical'. Complaints aren't exactly binary, what one person finds annoying, another may find endearing. Doesn't make such a complaint any less valid. Anyways, the only main issue I have with the game from what we know is the whole weather scenario in career. For such a nicely made weather system to be held back due to scripting is disappointing. However, I suppose that it is something with the possibility of being 'altered' in the final release.

Those HUD points are indeed disappointing, meh :(

@TGR_Kefran : There is a seperate HUD for telemetry, which shows a lot more information, like brake/throttle input, G-forces, brake/tyre temperatures, suspension travel, etc. etc.

I see what you mean but the "telemetry hud" seems more suitable for replay analysis. It would be weird to race with it.
The "normal" hud could give more information without having to use the telemetry overlay (that does not answer all the points anyway).

The game is great in so many aspects that it is normal to notice the few aspects where competition does better.
