I've just gotta give another vote to the Porsche 917s.

I covered Rennsport Reunion last year, so I've been as close to them at race speed as anybody outside the car has, and the noise they make is just unbelievable. All the other Porsche greats were there, too, but nothing was quite as spectacular as the 917s to me.

Another car that videos just can't do justice to is the RE Amemiya JGTC/SuperGT RX7. I've never seen a 787B run in person but I suspect that it's the only car that can even approach the noise the Amemiya FD makes. It's unlike anything else you've ever heard, and while videos make it sound relatively normal for a race car, in person it's this crazy scream that sounds almost musical.

It's actually two VR6 engines, the sound of them as they rev up at different speed kinda reminds me of a twin-engine speedboat. A lot of harmonics involved
