I'm still coming here to read the comments. Pretty neat, to say the least. I love you guys!!! Way more entertaining that the game we're supposed to be enjoying.

I'll be honest, I don't give a crap about GT anymore. KAZ could come on here, announce us that GT7 would come in one month on the PS4 featuring 14 000 cars and the fidel reproduction of plate tectonics; I'm not sure I would even care.

What's to say now?

The King is dead. Long live the King? Screw that said king. Bring Cromwell.

What if GT7 magically fixed everything "Wrong" with GT?? And those 14000 machines included Porsches and E30 M3s?

Sadly, I don't have to ask myself this question. It will not happen. EVER.
KAz don't have time for us anymore. Too busy driving his GT40 at Cannes.

But what if Kaz turned out to be a magical wizard and magically fixed GT singlehandedly?

Kaz isn't your boyfriend either.

After weeks of waiting for something new on GT5 or 6, out of boredom, I went into GT5 Arcade mode and found out in 3 laps I could knock down ALL of the cones on the Top Gear Test Track and still win the race!
Try it. It will brighten your day while waiting for PD to add something. Cones were flying all over the place! Guaranteed to make you smile.
So, the GT6 "Coffee Breaks" were good training for something.

Gt7 Prologue features:

20,000 cars (19,000 to be added later)
80 tracks (75 of which are comming soon!)
Single player mode (in a future update)
Multiplayer (in a future update)

There ya go KAZ ive just made your job easier!
And all cars to be premium with cockpits, adjustable fov and head (camera) positioning (to be added, well ummm... Look behind you, an ostrich! *runs away*)

I think at this point he might as well claim your get free real life cars and bars of gold for buying gt7! If your gonna lie go all out! =D

Anyway, I feel like this game is just a slightly improved GT5. Yes, it has more cars, some new tracks, but I don't feel blown away with it like I did when GT2 came out.

It's funny that.

GT1 blew people away because it was the first of it's kind.
GT2 blew people away because it had so much content.
GT3 blew people away because of next gen graphics.
GT4 blew people away because it had so much content, again.
GT5P blew people away because of next gen graphics and pretty fantastic for the time physics.
GT5 was sort of just a thing. It took so long and was so shonky at release that there wasn't much blowing away. By the end of the patches, it would have blown away people new to the series, but most people had grown into it by then. No blowing.
GT6 is just more of the same, but with less features. I don't see how anyone could be blown away. It's a cute upgrade, is all, and there's some nice stuff in there but it's tweaks at best. The major features that might blow people away (course maker, online community, sounds) aren't available, and by the time they are it may again be too late for the game to blow anybody.

Now that's just not fair! GT5 completely blows! OK, I've had my fun, I'm off. (OK it doesn't blow, it was just disappointing).

I do wounder... in a couple of years will people look back and say "well gt7 sucks I wish it more like the awesome gt6, sure it took 2 years for them to add the stuff that should have been in day one but at least it isn't as rubbish as gt7"

You have to wonder if the focus really has turned to GT7 at this rate...Did GT5 have more updates at this point in the life-span?

GT5 had a lot of updates and then they released a "complete" version afterwards with most of the patches on disk and the car packs and tracks.

It may have had more updates, but hardly any features were added, and no DLC (the first DLC came out with Spec 2.0, nearly a year after release)

Incorrect.

You can read through the patch notes for yourself here: http://gran-turismo.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_updates_to_Gran_Turismo_5

Relevant are 1.01 to 1.07. Features added:

-Ability to limit weight and power online added.
-Mechanical damage added to all offline modes.
-Seasonals added.
-Online Car Dealership added.
-Save Data backup added.
-Community features integrated into granturismo.com.
-Remote Racing added.
-Performance Points added.
-Car Loans added.
-Multi Monitor support added.

GT5 after three months was a profoundly different game to what it was at release. Adding PP, Seasonals and the OCD changed almost everything. Remote Racing was a major feature too. The rest is mostly fluff, but nice fluff.

You are correct that there was no DLC for a long time.

While I see your point, these features are minor compared to the features that are still promised to come for GT6 (the course maker is a bigger game changer than the OCD or seasonals, which were just workarounds for GT5's flawed structure).

Depending on what the course maker entails, I agree, it may be a bigger game changer than anything in GT5.

If the course maker is simply a scaled up version of the GT5 "course maker", then the impact is likely to be significantly less than the seasonals/OCD/PP.

If the course maker is a true course maker, in that people actually have control and can make their own tracks, either similar to ModNation Racers or with some additional restrictions, then it's a total game changer.

The cynic in me isn't expecting much at the moment. As much as I want to believe it will be a revolutionary feature, I'm expecting the GT5 course maker's little brother.

I hope to be pleasantly surprised, and I hope they bring it out before GT Academy Australia finishes and I sell my copy of the game.

Is GT6 still worth a lot down under? I was just curiously checking the worth of my GT6 and it's barely reaching £14! Lost it's value big time due to a multi-tude of factors. Suppose that's a worthy 'whine' about GT6.

Not really. I might be able to sell it for thirty bucks, but who knows. But I got my copy cheap anyway. Either I'll sell it or give it to some kid who might enjoy it.

In general, it seems to be Sony have pushed the price point toward £25 rather than the initial £40, thus making getting rid of it not worth the hassle.

I will keep it anyway to see the course maker and the other features. 👍 I'm actually keeping my PS3 hooked up because of this too, the potential is amazing if they get it right. Whenever that might be.

May buy it if they eventually release an edition containing the DLC for the right price. As I've said though, PD/Kaz seem to be on a different page to me when it comes to priorities.
