With just two colors to work with I decided to keep it simple. I was going for more of an older street look. With the engine swap, this thing is a beast - it loves taking corners sideways!

This was a nice excuse to make another GT300 designFINAL ENTRY

. Took a minute to decide on a title sponsor that fit with a monochrome theme, but I figured a pen brand combined with a sketchbook look gelled pretty well. Was a bit of a pain having to find monochrome decals for the other sponsors, but overall it was a good challenge.

Finding sponsors that look natural on a B&W car was a bit harder than I thought. I wanted to figure out how to create 'colors' or shades on a car that could only have #FFFFFF and #000000 on it. Decided to experiment with halftone and linework to create grays in the Audi-style colorblocking, along with glossy/matte. Pretty fun, time consuming, and I won't be doing another halftone… until I inevitably try it again like a dummy. This is the most layers I've used so farFINAL ENTRY

Looks fantastic though. I was thinking of doing a Rokit design too, but now I think I'll rethink my ideas!

Haha, I got very familiar with Camera vs Surface alignment, and mixing the two as patterns moved across flat to curved surfaces.
I wouldn't be surprised to see some Rokit designs still to come. Not a ton of B&W sponsors out there that are already into motorsports.

I really struggled to get an idea for a Black and White theme. Suddenly it came to me….it’s actually really hard to do a Ken Block car with no color at all. It only felt right to do it with a Subaru.FINAL ENTRY

Really fun project that I worked on over the past few days. The Japan Rising star on the roof in the “Hoon” style took forever. If I ever do it again I’ll just draw it in illustrator instead of using stuff already in game. I’m pretty happy with how this one came out.
