Exactly, just saying that if we keep pushing more to the right, we will be similar to Russia or Brazil in no time.

So I guess my point is that by trying to drag the country hard to the left, the Democrats are leaving open the door for a Trump instead of an Obama or McCain. To the extent that the Democrats want to see the US move left over time, they need to slow down and give people time. A big portion of the country is still angry that gay people are allowed to get married. I know that's not defensible, but those people vote.

Stumping about slavery reparations is the kind of thing that will net us all another Donald Trump. I don't think anyone wants a repeat of these last 4 years... except for 60+ million people who voted for Trump of course.

Edit:

Yeesh make that 70+ million? Looks like that's how it'll turn out.

I hated W. I didn't much like Mitt at the time either. But today, compared to what is there, I'd rather go back to those days, and W started a war for cry it out loud.

Fair enough I guess. It’s tough having to accept that, but I guess you’re right. That’s partly why I voted for Biden in the primaries. I think all people saying Bernie would win are not being realistic, just because people think he is a communist.

Given how close the results are, I think Bernie would have gotten us 4 more years of Trump.

I'd just like to say while I'm here, as a Brit who has a habit of stressing about the world, and have stressed over this election quite a bit.. Thanks everyone for keeping me sane with this thread. Its not over yet but I'm starting to feel some light coming back.

And when this is done, I'm turning my attention to Boris. If Joe can seal the deal, it might put a bomb up his ass.

I had someone argue that to me the other day because they were complaining that Biden was chosen, and I pointed out that Trump in this election pulled in more votes than Obama did the first time. I think the assumption they are making is either not realizing that this election wasn't Trump squeaking by an equally hated alternative candidate in 2016; or knowing that and just thinking that Bernie wouldn't have inflamed the right nearly as much... somehow.

The scariest thing about this election is that we have 70 million authoritarians and they're going to keep voting.

Which is what I meant back in June:

Unless I'm missing something, not voting for Biden is essentially a vote for Trump.
Like you said, with as tight as the results are, a few thousand would be enough to turn some states.

This just in:
Important amid lawsuits in Pa.: Ballots arriving after Election Day are segregated. They are then processed and counted separately, and, for now, not added to the current totals.
Ballots ARRIVING after Election Day is nothing new and have every right to be counted and added. The "for now" part hopefully gets changed.

Any update on another ballot dump coming? Would prefer more solid numbers than what's on board right now.
Nevada - Next update by 7 p.m. ET.

I'm not seeing any other times on NYT.

Trump now needs 60% of remaining votes to win Arizona. The state is slowly slipping away from him.
Heard he clinched around 58% of the last AZ dump & he was needing around 59% to stay in the game.

But, also hearing everyone is waiting for Maricopa County.

I think you're right. Being a Scandinavian I really think Bernie has a lot of good points and I dig the guy. But in the US in the current situation, a guy like Biden seems to be able to get more votes.

I guess Bernie would fuel a little creative destruction though. I think just by being in the nominee process for two periods he already has though..

Which is the main county with the highest population, Phoenix and suburbs. Population isn't terribly huge though so not sure why it's taking so long.

Because everyone in my department left and I have this kind of time:

Meanwhile, Trump was found under the dining table on the phone with a rag to muffle his voice.

All First Ladies have nicknames for the mistresses, now we know what Melania calls them.

Because you have the time... what's the max percentage difference required for a recount?

So while going through Twitter I keep seeing people say that if Trump loses they won't be able to live in the US anymore so they are going to pack their bags and move to Hawaii. Did I miss a meme somewhere or are these people just that stupid?

How the tables have turned. Probably the same people that gave other people crap for saying the same thing when Trump was elected 4 years ago.
