Fair enough I guess. It’s tough having to accept that, but I guess you’re right. That’s partly why I voted for Biden in the primaries. I think all people saying Bernie would win are not being realistic, just because people think he is a communist.

One reason why I am not convinced of this is that the democrat candidates for Congress that won, and won big in their states and districts, were pushing progressive policies hard. I think there is clearly a large enough demographic that isn't scared of the communist boogieman, and understands that none of the active politicians in the federal government are at best, barely left leaning.

Biden went from 1k up in GA to 4k up minutes ago

I hope Biden can get over 0.5% in GA, because then its no longer possible to have a recount.

Newt Gingrich is making totally baseless and nutty comments here. I assume he is talking about the ballot counting in PA, where a lot of conservative voters, and even Trump himself, are saying that his legal team of observers were not allowed to see the ballot counting. This is a straight up lie though. A federal judge granted their observers access. It's on Trump and his legal team to contest this stuff and use the courts when they had the chance. They still do even, ballot counting is not done yet. If their observers are not there, then that is entirely on them.

There is no way a legal team could argue in the supreme court that ballots should be thrown out. Especially after they have already been counted, unless it was clear as day they were fraudulent, and even then it would only be the specific ballots, not an entire set. Other judges would just cite the Harris county, Texas supreme court case where 100,000 ballots were requested to be thrown out because of drive-in voting. The judge basically laughed the request out of his court room.

While I certainly hope it doesn't come to it, this situation feels like the scenario you see in movies where the antagonist would rather paint the wall with their brains than face defeat.

Trump is unstable and unhinged, but he doesn't strike me as that kinda person.

Getting closer to my napkin math! :D

On. What. Grounds?

Gingrich is the starting point for all the crap we are dealing with now. Another lying, cheating, hypocritical, narcissistic scumbag.

I think it's going to be become apparent that the US ... & the world ... owes a debt of gratitude to African American women for getting rid of Trump. From what I heard on NPR this afternoon, it seems that white women, never mind white men, voted 55% for Trump.

It feels like the movie Downfall, with high-ranking officials either shooting themselves in the head in the bunker or surfacing to surrender to the Allies in the hope of bargaining their freedom while Hitler has violent temper tantrums in his private quarters.

Republicans, contrary to all predictions, seem set to pick up 7 to 12 seats in the House of Representatives. IMO, this ticket splitting is a signal that voters were indeed tired of Trump himself, but not of conservative nationalism. It will also be very worrisome of what is to come at the next mid-term elections, and will likely accelerate Nancy Pelosi's ouster from Speaker of the House and 2nd in line of succession to the Presidency.

The BBC points out that mail-in ballots from military personnel have yet to be counted & could swing the vote in Georgia. However ... they accompany the story with this photo, which appears to show members of the LGBTQ Special Forces unit on manoeuvres. Not sure if they would be voting for Trump ...

Unless a disproportionately large number of LGBT people serve in the military then there won't be enough of them to make a significant difference, assuming they're all universally against him as well.

I would hazard the guess that the military gets a big stiffy from Trump, as casualties are down and budgets are up.

Er ... it's a joke! :)

There is no LGBTQ Special Forces unit (as far as I know).

Just a really odd stock photo for the Beeb to pick.

I've always wondered why the Trump administration hasn't tried to give US citizens on Guam the right to vote. Not only because of the lapse in democracy, but also because with how many people on that island are employed by the US Army, they would most certainly be voting Republican.

Amphibian brains are small.

Seriously...
No.

That's. How. Jokes. Work.

Christ on a ****ing bike, I can't fathom how you've mustered your way through life with such thin skin. You're not under any obligation to find it funny, but maybe try not to bitch so much, 'kay?

If he threatens the SS, are they allowed to use lethal force?

The US government is happy to tax them as regular US citizens, yet doesn't want them to vote.
It doesnt allow convicted felons to vote either, even though they have the right to.
