"See? Voter fraud exists! We're committing it right now!"

"We are committing so much voter fraud that this is exactly why we need to make it impossible for people to freely vote Democrat."

Republicans: "We need to get past the terrorist attack on the Capitol while Congress convened jointly to count Electoral College votes four months ago."

Also Republicans: "The commission on the events of January 6th, 2021 should also look into the riots of Summer 2020 and the 2017 shooting and injury of Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) and three others during Republican practice for a congressional charity baseball game."

Hey, who says Republicans aren't prepared to compromise? Huh? Huh?! And with "dignity", no less.

I'm sure this move is absolutely nothing at all to do with the ongoing investigation into Lindsey's attempt to convince Brad Raffensperger to certify the Georgia result in Trump’s favour...

(Just in case anyone was still wondering why this thread is still going strong 195 days after the election...)

It only took him over a half a year to realize Trump lost. Based on my calculations and using the proper coefficients to account for a different human being, Trump will concede the election in the year 2045. *Checks notes* Wait, sorry, the year 212,045.

Guess we better settle in for the long haul, then. At this rate the thread could end up surviving the heat death of the universe.

The good people from east Akron, Kent State, and Youngstown hired that guy. Not sure there's much he can do for Lordstown though.
Are you referring to the GM plant closing last year? I thought it was bought by a local owner.

I have found myself recently studying a lot of philosophical meta-ethics and cosmology, which are some of my bigger personal pursuits. I was thinking today about how there was a sharp uptick in my time spent on this things this spring, and realized that I simply didn't have time or head space for those things for the last few years because of Trump. I wonder how much productivity and quality of life was lost to his circus.

Respectfully, it isn't his circus. He's gone. He no longer holds one iota of public sway. The power he has is limited to partisan politics and the only reason he has any such power is because Republicans are beholden to him. The circus is theirs.

...which is why I'm getting back to like... living, instead of being concerned about the survival of the civilization.

Well regardless of whether you consider January 6th, and the absolute train wreck that was the political discussion for most of 2020 (and 2019 actually), being owned by Trump or his supporters, I think it's fair to call it the circus of Trump. Maybe he was the puppet, maybe he was the puppet master, but either way he was the show for a little while there.

2020 would have been a busy time for me anyway. But there were periods there where I could have spent time on hobbies or intellectual pursuits, and I spent a lot of it reading scenarios about the state of democracy and wondering whether, for example, Trump had sufficient sway within the pentagon to stage a military coup. The answers to those questions were pretty important for near term planning.

This spring feels amazing, not just because the pandemic is coming to an end, but because I'm not concerned that the country will literally crumble this calendar year.

He may no longer be the red coat and top hat wearing ringmaster, but his name is still written in fancy script on the side of the trucks, no matter how hard some of the GOP try to scrub it off.

The others are too busy licking the back of the script so it stays stuck on.

I'm okay with this. These witch hunts have proven to be fairly effective at finding witches. **** 'em.

Wrong thread, @UKMikey?
Who the knows anymore.

I don't get the reference. They think they're being treated like Jews because they aren't vaccinated? They feel like they're being corralled into ghettos and having their property taken? Being given limited rations and not allowed to work? Well that does sound pretty unpleasant. Maybe the rollercoaster will cheer them up!
